QUOTE(professor_snape @ Mar 26 2015, 07:57 AM) santos, Japanese-led Team Make New Oil Find Off Malaysia Hopefully FDP will be approved soon by MPM, at least after two years ada project baruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu by Reuters|Wednesday, March 25, 2015 Santos, Japanese-led Team Make New Oil Find Off Malaysia Santos and its Japanese and Malaysian partners hit oil in an exploration well in deepwater off Sabah in east Malaysia, and are planning to drill further to evaluate the find. Reuters MELBOURNE, March 25 (Reuters) - Santos Ltd and its Japanese and Malaysian partners hit oil in an exploration well in deep water off Sabah in east Malaysia, and are planning to drill further to evaluate the find, the Australian company said on Wednesday. "A significant oil discovery has recently been made at the Bestari-1 exploration well," Santos said in a filing to the Australian Stock Exchange. Santos said the well hit 67 metres of high quality oil in depths ranging from 1,860 metres to 2,702 metres below the sea. "While there is still a lot of work to be done in determining recoverable volumes, this is a large structural closure potentially capable of supporting significant column heights," Santos vice president John Anderson said in emailed comments. The well was one of six Santos has scheduled in a $250 million exploration campaign this year, after cutting planned capital spending for 2015 by a fourth in December to help cope with a slump in oil prices. Partners in the block are operator JX Nippon Oil and Energy Corp, Japan's Inpex Corp, Malaysian state oil firm Petronas and Santos, which bought its stake from the two Japanese partners in January. Deepwater Block R, where the Bestari-1 well was drilled, is close to other oil discoveries, including the Kikeh oil field, which started producing in 2007, five years after it was discovered. - See more at: http://www.rigzone.com/news/article.asp?hp...h.liwjtCNC.dpuf |

Oceancare wants share in Petronas VPD
by Salena Pail, reporters@theborneopost.com. Posted on March 25, 2015, Wednesday Nelson (seventh right) exchanges the exclusive agreement document with Alasdair. MIRI: Oceancare Corporation Sdn Bhd (OCSB) aims to be part of Petronas Vendor Development Program (VDP) in the near future. Its president Datuk Nelson Balang Rining said the company hopes to participate in the RM2.1 billion project from Petronas to be given to oil and gas companies in Sarawak. “We are positive on the capability of OCSB to deliver and contribute as part of the VDP project whether it is big, medium or small size contract,” he said during the signing ceremony of exclusive agency agreement between OCSB and Cortez Subsea Limited (Cortez) yesterday. On a related matter, Nelson said OCSB is not only a major player in the oil and gas industry regionally, but is also aiming to be a major player internationally. “Through the exclusive signing of the agreement, it will be an added-value for OCSB by having the ‘Zap-Lok’ technology from Cortez. Thus, we are confident of its potential to be part of the billion ringgit VDP project,” he added. ‘Zap-Lok’ technology is one of the alternatives to the conventional piping system which has been in practice in the oil and gas industry for more than 40 years since 1973. The technology is well-known for its good record on cost-reduction, safety and application, and has proven its effectiveness in the petroleum field globally. Furthermore, Nelson also foresees a huge market potential in the oil and gas industry, particularly in the Asian region. Meanwhile, Cortez managing director Alasdair Cowie said Malaysia particularly Sarawak is the best location for the ‘Zap-Lok’ technology. “This is because the technology is designated to be cost-efficient especially in the oil and gas field. It is particularly appropriate especially in this difficult time of global oil and gas industry crisis,” he added. Cowie also has positive outlook on their other products, which he said will help to develop the local oil and gas industry. The signing ceremony was also attended by OCSB deputy president Datuk Jonathan Loh, Eastern Hemisphere NOV Zaplok Technology director Dr Ben Chapman and SEA Zaplok Technology business development manager Mark Wallace. QUOTE(kuli2sahaja @ Mar 26 2015, 12:32 AM) Tough luck bro..atleast they gave u 3 months notice. damn that sounds really brutal. But that's the reality of working in this business, very volatile. One day you are in, next day you are out. They should have give you some time to really digest the news. I was offshore the day before n then back to work on the next (No rest/off day), when lunch time was over i found myself clearing my belongings and had to be "escorted" off the premises. Good luck on your job hunting, we need it. Crash the career fair we will! Mine was a bit expected since we have done our appraisal earlier. So me and my boss talked about my commitment, and i fully understand his sentiment. I am young, no commitment aside from a motor kapcai, no wife no kids. I try to put myself in his shoes and I believe that letting me go instead of my other colleagues will be the least heartless of all. So, letting go of you co-worker is very personal for him. Best of luck to both of us, at this rate I have no problem taking a job with major paycut from what I am earning now. I am still learning anyway, not earning. |
