That's why i don't have stop loss. I only take certain amount as loss. When it reach that amount, i close all trades and go plant some vege smile.gif

I prefer to set my SL way beyond the intended SL level. For example my intended SL is 100 pips, then I may set as 200 pips .... just as an insurance in case something unexpected happen ;-)

Yes, I agree on you. I wish to add information. Such condition is called price gap . It is a totally empty price where SL will be closed on another price, but not on the SL price we set.

So you mean if you put your SL in between the price gap then the SL will not kick in as well?

Yes, there is no digit price in the price gap. Ur order will be closed to the nearest available price, which is much more lose than u planned for.

If you check history, the "digit number of SL price" still remains no change, but "the digit number of closed price" are different with SL digit price. This condition is rarely to be happened, so many ppl just ignore it.

Another condition is broker bankrupt in CHF crisis, so no matter how good u plan also cannot get back money.

Gap is usually used for difference between Friday closing and Monday Opening for brokers that do not operate over the weekends. When a broker does not honour the stop loss that you have set, that is usually called slippage. Very few would honour SL with zero slippage. Most of you would notice that even during normal trading times, sometimes the SL can be a few pipette or even pips away from your SL if the price suddenly moves 10-20 pips in one tick. That is called slippage. In the event like UC crash, the slippage would be even bigger.

Yes, I know that whatever SL that you set will not be honoured should there be a price gap. However it is still better than not setting any SL.

dry.gif still on chf....

when you know previous movements of price/fundamentals of the currency, you know better not to get yourself involved with that pair.

no matter how great is your stoploss, nothing can protect you (ie in the case of chf)
still the best strategy is not to trade that pairs (before the plunge)... see, it just get back to it previous level..

lol that

it's history repeating itself, ie; whenever a central bank defending currency, they tend to fail overtime.
