i too want to replace the thompson router as it is too weak in the wifi signal and frequent dropped connection.

would it be as easy as getting an Asus router, replaced it and use back the internet wifi with phone?

i would still need to maintain the TM Huawei switch right?

THanks.

If you want to use back the phone with custom router like Asus, I was successful by hacking the Huawei HG850a BTU to enable VOIP on it and connect the phone directly to the BTU. It worked for a few months but one day it refused to work out of the blue. I suspect something or some configuration changed on Maxis' side. No idea what it was. But Maxis came back saying that nothing's changed on their side.  rolleyes.gif So I decided to get a Cisco SPA122 ATA to handle the VOIP connection.
I just checked and the Cisco SPA122 ATA connects directly to my network switch.

[attachmentid=5959731]

Simple as that. It just needs internet connection. As for the config, I need to dig it out. One kind soul helped me out and I'm eternally grateful to him. If you happen to be facing the same problem, let me know, I'll guide you.
Have you checked the passwords and that it's all correct? Have you tried to verify the VOIP connection working ok on your old Thomson router?
do u know how much and where to get this Cisco SPA122 ATA? you can help with the configuration or just plug and play?

just found the price... RM300 plus ...

My router was upgraded from Thompson to Amina when I signed up for Maxis Prime a year ago.  As you are aware, Maxis Prime has a "guaranteed" connection because when your fiber line is done, the 4G sim card inside the Amina router will kick-in and connect to 4G cellular. I was told that this new TP-Link Archer router has no slot for the 4G sim card like the Amina?
*
i think the latest fibernation promo will replace the Aminia Sim card router .... i am also under One Prime. From thompson to Aminia > and i think their latest router offering do not have Sim

Just got my new router (TP-Link Archer C5v) from Maxis.
It is far better than Thompson & Amina. smile.gif
Think I can sell off my D-Link DSL-G2452DG.

Do they take back your old thompson or Amina? syk

My account already upgraded to 100mbps this morning, but i cant check the speed yet because not at home.

I subscribed to 30mbps maxis fibre home 3 months back. When they open the reg window for 100mbps, i straight reg on their website.

Couple of weeks later, in charge person called me to confirm the upgrade. Request for appointment and change the router on 6/9/18.

This morning i just called maxis to confirm my upgrade. According to him, my account are in line for upgrade. Couple hours later, my account changed to 100mbps.

Yes, I'm Maxis One Prime customer... now still waiting them to upgrade my account speed, will take 48 hours.

i see ... for my case, i have been using technicolor router for years and recently 2 months ago became One Prime, so i got the AMinia Modem with Sim card inside, and less than 1 month now i am upgrading to 100MB fibernation, so i am not sure when they come, are they going to take back both my technicolour and animia back and then use the sim into the dongle? hmmmm bangwall.gif

got into live chat with maxis rep named kogi about my issue with upload speed not exceed 30mbps (im 100mbps rm129). as usual, "best effort" reply. pretty disappointed so far. how much is unifi 300mbps again?
*
for 50MB i feel that it should be at least 48MB approx instead ...

i think there are a few ppl here who has gotten 30 MB and after lodging report, it shld be aroud 50MB.

i am getting about only 20MB and for sure they can make it higher as i was getting 32MB before when i was on their 30MB package ...

i am waiting for the installer to come and then do the test ....

Not “best effort”, I call to CS complain, the technician told me should be more than 40mbps, and they already fix it to me.

agree - they control the "water pipe" ....

I can only get about 50mbps under 100mbps plan, using thomson router. Any idea what's the issue? I already lodge a report to Maxis and it's under investigation.
*
i too have been having this problem since last week's upgrade.

some members here have sorted it out by calling maxis and manage to get 50MB, and some 100MB.

i am using asus route AC66 and even i switched to thompson TG784, the upload is still only 20MB - in my case.

Maxis have said they will change channel / switch port at their level but i am still stuck at 20mb.

I believe 20MB has nothing to do with the asus or thompson router i have, but more of their Maxis / TM port switch level.

i have made another feedback to them a moment ago to get this done. any ideas as well ?

What? Isn't "elite" should be able to solve all issues?
*
exactly - the call centres keep promising that the Elite team will come and sort all problems.

When he came yesterday, he is no better than me, just keep whatsapping Maxis for answers .... then left without solving anything saying that Maxis will contact me, case lodged.

i have been calling in so many times to log cases .... at lost what to do next.

Let's analyse your issue.

Are you staying in a house or apartment. If in a house, then this shouldn't happen. If in an apartment, whether the apartment has the fibre network or still copper wiring.

If it is fibre networked, was the clipping of the fibre cable connector done correctly. Reason I said so was when TIME installed my office's broadband, the clipping was not done properly and couldn't achieve 100 Mbps. After trying and trying, whatsapping and calling fellow installers for answers for about half and hour, finally one of their fellow installer asked them to check the fibre clipping and connector. They tested it and the found out the issue was the fibre cable was not properly clipped to the connector. Once they redo the clipping and the connector, the issue solved.

Just my 2 cents.

Hi bro - staying landed in OUG - it should be copper.

Previous Maxis package:

1. 30MB package - i get 30MB down and 30MB up.
2. 50MB package - i get 50MB down and 20MB up.

Now i am using 100MB - i get 100MB down and mere 20MB upload only .... there is a cap i feel imposed for my case.
