Maxis Telesales called me today offering 500Mbps RM 89 & 1Gbps RM 119 lifetime price. Worth to transfer over from Unifi ?
*
Bundle with postpaid I presume? Worth if you ask me, if you don’t have issue with UniFi, you shouldn’t have much issue with Maxis too since you will be using the same infra.

They didn’t offer me new line since I’m using 199 plan already. Yup so far so good with unifi will opt for a try 😬
*
Ya, that’s what I meant to bundle it with a postpaid. Otherwise, standalone cannot get RM 119 for 1Gbps. laugh.gif
If you have issues with the connection, need to contact Maxis and if it’s related to TM, they will need TM to fix it. So far I am with Maxis for 3.5 years, no TM’s involvement required.

Thank you for the information. I guess safer to stick with unifi since I work from home. Speed of restoration is important for me.
*
Well, if you have no issue with UniFi currently you won't have issue with Maxis. My condo is also using UniFi infra and I'm using Maxis Fiber, it has been three years, TM was not required to fix anything that specific for my unit. If it is any outage, it affects all users regardless UniFi, Maxis, Digi or etc, TM will still fix for everyone.

I also work from home exclusively smile.gif

I had broken underground fiber twice due to rat frew years ago. Last repair they do splicing,  not sure if my cable can get very good reading for 1 Gb. Furthermore,  Maxis mobile coverage is not great in my area. Maybe next round.
*
Maxis Fiber is not related to mobile coverage. smile.gif If you are referring to the backup line, then yes.

Anyway, use whatever suits you. I have both UniFi and Maxis Fiber at two different houses. I also have 5G router and mobile broadband as spare. laugh.gif

So not Unifi level of bad then?
Geez, U is not usable in the night recently
*
Is it? I think location based kot. I’m now living at my sister’s house in Seremban and her house is equipped with UniFi 500Mbps, it is good. Full speed all the time.

It is really bad, basically everynight from 7PM onwards the internet is basically unusable
And my traffic was gettting routed to random COUNTRIES instead of the closest servers
Such things never happened during my 2 years with Maxis
Cloudflare speedtest PL and latency is over the rooft, plus only getting 10% of my subscribed speed as bonus
Yes, Maxis is not the top ISP in my mine but they are the most average one for sure
I had to cancelled my online tuitions because it was bad enough I couldnt open online materials mega_shok.gif
*
OMG, that's really bad. As I'm in a Global role, so my daily online meetings via MS Teams only start at 8pm which is the peak time, but never once I face any issue and sometimes I even have to turn on my camera during the calls.

Because of the horrible routing, I considered taking Allo (either directly or Maxis under their infra) as my backup fibre plan while I serve Unifi's contract for another 18 months.
My area is covered by both Allo and Unifi's infra, after checking with Allo's CS they told me it is impossible for customer to have both Unifi and Allo service in the same premise despite they are on different infra.
*
Why don’t you try 5G broadband as backup?

What's the latest retention package for 300Mbps? My friend's contract is ending on 15th Oct, and she is currently subscribing to RM 129 for 300Mbps.

She will try to switch to UniFi and hopes that Maxis will offer something competitive.

my contract will end on 23rd October, waiting for something good too.

You will need to initiate transfer to another ISP by then, else Maxis will take it you are still happy with them and won't offer you anything. tongue.gif

I've never heard of any processing fees when renewing contract
Safest way is to call Maxis's marketing team
*
Yes, there is no processing fees but just to submit for retention purposes. Pandai this agent do this kind of things. laugh.gif

I went to their office to understand further...
They said it's the same transfer request they doing and the 100 rm is for them to try and retry till I get the offer I want.. And also teach me how to nego with maxis when do they retention call to get  the 6 months free/50 inch TV... Rm 100 Refundable if I don't get what I want.....

Bcoz frankly speaking I want to remain with maxis so I can get the unlimited mobile data with my post paid....

My only concern is if I request to transfer to unifi, but no retention call frm maxis, then will I be screwed and landed up have to proceed with unifi?
*
Maxis needs to call you to confirm your transfer, they cannot do it without your consent.

I need to ask my friend who has Maxis/UniFi agent account to do something similar too. laugh.gif

I remember 2 years ago when I recontract, the will make a 1st call to confirm our request for transfer.... (iirc, 1st call has little to no attempt to retain u with any offers whatsoever )

Then after that when u go to maxis center to do something.... Then there will be another 2nd call to retain u and offering u the goodies...

Not sure what's the process now but I think some1 did mentioned it has been streamlined d.....? So I just don't want to get caught without any retention attempt frm maxis end... Lol.
*
Last March, when I re-contracted for another two years, I received no call whatsoever, not even to confirm whether my transfer was confirmed or not. I took the initiative to call them to inquire about the status of my transfer request. Then, the CS arranged for a callback from the retention department.

I shared my experience here: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...ost&p=109325853

My contract won't expire until next March, so I'm unsure about this year's process.

Nevertheless, back to default Maxis router. Hopefully that isolates one lesser problem to troubleshoot.

I wanted to use Maxis router to isolate problem but I just noticed Maxis router only accepts SSID without "space" and my existing SSID on Asus router has spaces... So, it means I need to reconfigure for all my devices again if I were to change to Maxis router... Yesterday and today problem came back again while I'm now back in the house.

Ah yes. The infamous Maxis Router that doesn't allow space. Not sure if you could try this as space for your SSID.

Alt-0173 for an invisible character

Alt-0160 for a visible space

Thanks for the tips let me try! So far it’s OK now, I feel like resetting my Asus router if it’s still happening. I noticed the Internet is OK once I’m on Maxis Huawei router.

It looks like my issue could be a faulty modem. My LAN2 or LAN 1 just doesn’t lit up. Called Maxis and they suspected it’s a modem issue and will be replacing my modem. Hopefully it solves the problem.

Now I don’t have Internet to use. The earliest TM can replace is on Thursday but I will be away from home for a couple of days until weekend. Let’s wait for their reschedule call tomorrow.

It turns out it is not my modem issue as well. laugh.gif
Solved it by unplugging and plugging in again the fiber optic cable though it is not loose. I just didn't want to give up. At that time, I had no other options besides waiting for Maxis Experts to come, since my connection was already down, so I tried out everything I could.

So, in short, no issue with my Asus router or Maxis modem. biggrin.gif

The classic plug-unplug resolution.

If it works, it ain't silly. Haha
*
Yeah, didn’t expect it’s the culprit as it wasn’t loose or anything. laugh.gif

Even when I suggested to plug-unplug when I spoke to Maxis CS over the phone, he says it’s not required. Most likely my modem spoilt. sweat.gif I still went ahead and fixed it myself. sweat.gif Based on my experience using fiber broadband for more than a decade, none of my modems were spoilt. laugh.gif So, it’s not easy to spoil a modem.

I like the Huawei Modem HG8240H GPON terminal. It's really solid stuff.
*
I didn't know about this thing, is it useful? I live in a high rise prop, so the cable is from wall.

Suggest not to mess with it, can cause more harm than good.  tongue.gif

I suspect the fiber connector deteriorated after all these years which is a common fault

If you want, get their technical to test the fiber reading and replace the connector if fiber reading is bad, they might be able to test it remotely
*
Ah, I didn't know about this. Hope all OK now for me..

QUOTE(Keatsan @ Oct 6 2025, 05:15 PM)
When the fibre team came to troubleshoot my network issue , I was curious on the tools they were using. Hence I just bought one and keep it for self cleaning only when I needed it.

It's to remove dust and keep the out the contaminants. But if you don't unplug it often, it shouldn't have any at the first place due to contact point of the fibre connectivity itself.

Best to just call the technical team and they'll come sort out anyways. (Part of the paid service)
*
Yeah, then I don't need it for now but will remember that there is such a service from them.

Anyone got call from Maxis agent offering switch from Unifi to Maxis 500Mbps for RM89, contract 2 year and price valid for lifetime? Is it legit?
*
Usually, it needs to be bundled with Maxis postpaid. Are you currently using Maxis postpaid? If no, it will force you to sign up postpaid as well.
