limit for ASB is 200K but you can increase it to 500K, must write a letter with good reason, then can increase to 500K.

A lot of revert to Islam got their Bumi status after being a Muslim, it's offered to them by the religion council like Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor, JAIS for example. Some take it, some don't. But you shouldn't convert just for the sake of the Bumi status, as long it is for a good reason e.g. really study the religion then it's okay.

I think somebody should have mentioned that ASB and some other fund under PNB are protected by the government, and are the only investment in the WORLD, that have that kind of protection. (refer to article in www.min.com.my)

Sorry for not reading the whole thread, just my 2 cents smile.gif

Simple. With loan, the bank get their handsome share of your dividend. Also, say if loan interest is 6%, and ASB suddenly got dividend reduced to say 4%, bank still makes money, you most probably lose money. Also, probably the person asking you to make the loan get commission from your loan....

hmmm i think is good also to take the loan..because i take it..u only lose your money when u sell it in a short period (short fall). Yes the bank will gain from your investment and the the person promote the loan will get the commission nothing to deny about that...try to look the bright side, and think first before u do the loan...r u gonna save it for 5 -10 month than take out the money to buy/pay something or is this your future saving for 10-15 years?

If this for your future saving..better to take the loan..

i take RM 200 K for the period of 20 years (i explain for my situation, ASB offer RM 10k - 200k with 5 - 20 years pay up period)

every month i pay RM 1515 x 12 = 18180/annum

let say ASB give dividend + bonus around 8-10% annum = u get back what u pay or lose/gain depend on the dividend percentage if 10% u already gain RM 1.xK x 20 years = RM 2xK. For the next year just use the dividend bonus to pay straight 1 year it reduce your interest.

After 20 years u will get the RM 200k + 20 K extra = RM 220K and yes u only pay for the first year (the longer time the better, and ASB offer 20 years max)

The own saving situation (take the same amount u pay = RM 18180)
after a year u will get around 8-10% dividend from asb (I take 10% easy calculation for u to view) = RM 1818

18180 + 1818 = RM 19998(first year)
19998 + (10%) 1999 = RM 21997 (2nd year)
21997 + 2199 = 24196 (3rd year)
24196 + 2419 = Rm 26615 ( 4th year)

go on until 20 years?? u will get less than RM 150 K right?

so u need to thing carefully ...in my situation i already pay u for 4 years and decide to sell i already.. total pay Rm 18180 x 4 = RM 72720

the first year i got = RM 19,xxx dividen
2nd Rm 20,0xx
3rd 19,xxx
this year not sure how much asb will give and yet just take 18000

plus all dividend i get 19k + 19K + 20K + 18k = 76k i gain around 3xxx

and after i sell i also will get around 15k = 3xxx = RM 18xxx good aa happy.gif plus i get my money back from the first year i pay the asb loan (the 4th dividend)

means rm 18k + rm 18k = rm 36 k in 4 years kinda good

if own saving = RM 26k

so the bottom line i get rm 10k more with the loan trick ...happy.gif i lose nothing..and i know the bank gain more than me..but who cares??at least i dunt lose anything and gain something from the loan hahaha... dont get yourself into short fall u may pay some amount of money to bank...not only u lose from dividend but u need to pay also sad T_T

asb loan is good if you don't have any money to invest at all in the 1st place.

but do take note you CAN lose money if you take the loan IF the divident rate fall lower than your borrowing rate, which I think is rather rare but still its not impossible.

its usefull for long term say 7-10 years plan.

that's one way, the other way is wait till ASNB to anounce they release more units, but you have to camp outside the bank days before. tongue.gif

I think won't make any different. U see people nowdays are smart. Use inside people. So it's matter of luck now. Even we complain but no solid evidence. So hopeless. So it's all matter of pure luck now. Typical Malaysian system really can't help it unless we revamp the whole G system like USA rclxm9.gif .

Dear fellow investors

I am thinking of using my EPF withdrawal to buy unit trust.

I am now wondering which should I buy, private funds like Public, OSK or go with government linked ASNB?

What are the pros and cons, thank you all.

If you prefer more constant annual dividend and no capital appreciation then ASW, ASM will be a better choice. If you choose to have capital appreciation then go for unit trust then.
