Thinking where is the best place to shop for snacks in Tokyo?

Local family grocery stores, or departmental stores selling japanese snacks

If by snacks you mean those various boxed snacks that tourists like to bring back as souvenir (eg Tokyo banana), the Tokyo skytree mall and diver city mall at odaiba are two places with a ton of variety.

Hi im planning a 9 day in kansai; hitting up osaka, kyoto, nara, kobe, himeji
any suggestions on off the beaten road aside from the towns above?
any recommended ryokan experience?
Also contemplating between JR West Rail Pass and Kansai Thru pass; unsure which is better leaning towards JR as it may be the major line connecting between towns, unsure if it can be used getting around in the town itself
the other pro on Thru Pass is discount on some tourist sites
thoughts? comments?

Kansai Area. JR train are very limited. JR West Rail Pass are useless in Kansai Area. You cannot used in on Subway , Buses , Kintetsu train and Nankai Train. Which you need Kansai Thru Pass to cover it all.

JR pass are useful when you leaving one Town to another town. Such as Osaka to Himeji. Osaka to Tokyo ...etc etc

I was in Japan 15-23 February for working/vacation trip. The highlights were two-ways trips between Tokyo and Nagoya on shinkansen without JR-Pass, getting Silver Membership at a maid cafe, and one-day stroll in Nagoya. Time was well spent, but not so sure if the money was. Hahaha. rolleyes.gif
