Golden week are worst for traveling between town to town and hotel price will be higher.
If you only stay at Hokkaido only no problem.

For the JR Kansai Hiroshima Area Pass, it is valid on five consecutive calendar days (midnight to midnight).

Meaning if I use it for the first time at 10am on Monday, I can use it until midnight ~11.59pm on Friday only, not 10am on Saturday?

Day 1 Himeji or okayama (daytrip)
Day 2 Hiroshima
Day 3 Miyajima (daytrip)
Day 4 Kyoto (daytrip)
Day 5 Kobe/Osaka

ok or not? biggrin.gif

Yes.
All Pass are same. Even JR Rail Pass also same.
Validity: Calendar Days or 24-Hour Periods?
The validity period of the Japan Rail Pass is based on calendar days (midnight to midnight) rather than 24 hour periods. For example: when starting to use a 7-day pass at noon on day 1, it will expire at midnight at the end of day 7 rather than at noon of day 8.

You already when Osaka + Kyoto so many times already....maybe can try Okayama // Takamatsu

Some AA flights to KIX arrive at 10.25 pm. Immigration, baggage, etc already 11.30pm and by that time, the train can only bring you to tennoji station. Apart from taxi, the only alternative is taking the limo bus to osaka/umeda area?

1 Week Osaka

going to use the Hiroshima pass
http://www.westjr.co.jp/global/en/travel-i...nsai_hiroshima/

1. Arrive Osaka [JR Pass activated]
2. Osaka -> Himeji -> Kobe -> Osaka
3. Osaka -> Hiroshima -> Miyajima
4. Hirosima -> Kyoto
5. Kyoto -> Nara(MAYBE)
6. Kyoto
7. Osaka (back to KL)

dear king RegentCid

on day 4 on the way to kyoto, I am thinking of stopping at Okayama and Kurashiki

anything particular that you can suggest there? or should I skip it? what I knew is that they have some cool canals and castles?

did some reading on Onsen at Miyajima and kinosakionsen, is it worth the trouble going there or should i just enjoy miyajima onsen only? Should I skip and go to Hakone the next time I'm going to Japan?(thinking of going during the winter because fuji will be clear and onsen session will be icon_idea.gif icon_idea.gif icon_idea.gif )

not going to Nara because I've been there before and not to mention I can see the same animal at Miyajima laugh.gif

bringing my future waifu here, her first time at Nihon whistling.gif

If your Tokyo - KL and KL - Kuantan are different carriers (example you fly to KL on MAS and then Kuantan on AA) then no, you need to fly both legs as totally separate flights.

If both legs are MAS then no problem to check in your bags all the way to Kuantan.

a day trip to Hiroshima is do-able if you catch the first train and the 8pm train back to Osaka/Kyoto

since I don't really want to rush things out, I am planning just to stay at Hiroshima(Toyoko Inn or airbnb) before going straight to Kyoto.

or perhaps go to Kyoto first for a night then straight to Hiroshima and go back to Kyoto at the same day

since you are going to the western part of Japan, why not go to Hiroshima if you have the time?

each prefecture have their own specialty anyways icon_idea.gif
