I bought Rubine from EQ (the one in Kepong, not very sure of the name now) at only RM950 in 2009. Retail that time was about RM1700. Serves me very well. But I only use the convection mode most of the time, and the it spreads heats very well. I do a lot of baking and some grilling. I never did any service. But now the fan for the convection stops working, so I just change to convention using the up/down heater. I love convention better and will get it repaired soon.

Anyway, my unit was only dented a bit at the back. For that price, and its performance to me this is one of the best buys. I hantu warehouse sale anyway. Most of our appliances are all from sales smile.gif. Except for a Maytag washer (used for 4 years, repaired once...now prob again), all other appliances... hood, fridge, dishwasher all ok.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Been seeing Rubine a lot but I didn't consider cos prices weren't that cheap, perhaps it was new models. Now that you tell me it's good, perhaps can also put into my list. They say convection will distribute heat well but will dry cakes surface? It's good for cookies tho. I used a microwave-cum-convection oven before and it's true the top is dry because of the "wind" and the oven space is small. I also used a table top oven before, without the fan on, the cake won't cook thoroughly.

So, your Rubine doesn't suffer from the inner side being hotter than outer side (near the door) since you said heat was well distributed?

That is why I want a built-in oven for bigger cooking capacity and save my table top space as my kitchen is not that big.

I almost bought an oven for RM900+, a Rinnai but when I open the door, it can't fully opened.

Some rave about American brands like Whirlpool and Maytag while others say they are not lasting. To me, a brand is just a guideline, more importantly got real people using it and give feedback based on their usage. That's my main reason for getting advices here. Cos pening from all the sales talk. Salesman can talk till sky high. If you are lucky then you get a good unit. Even expensive cars can have defects.

So bila lagi ada warehouse sale in the near future? Remember to share with me. drool.gif

Guys, just a quick check. I just purchased an electrolux built in oven. Before the cabinet guys come next month, i was told that i need to change the plug from a 13A to a 15a plug. Is it simply a change of plug or do i have to oull a new wire from DB box (which will be messy as it is situated quite far away)?

Thanks in advance!

I think you need to pull new wire from the DB box... the wiring is different (thicker) between 13A and 15A.

Anyway your socket wire wasn't tapping from another socket and use with China made wires cable.

That is dose not an issue to change from 13A plug to 15A, usually 15A just use for Aircon or Water heater.

Even my dryer input watt 2300 was come with 13A for normal socket plug will do.

Thanks for the reply guys!

An oven wattage is not usually higher than heater or air cond?

If possible i wouldnt like to pull a new wire from the db box as i risk damaging my plaster ceiling as im sure the cables have to run through there, but then again i dont want my plug to burn everytime i use the oven as well. Has anyone experience using a 70L oven with a 15a plug only?rated power is 2780W

If the existing wall socket, you can able to used also.
From the 13A normal plug can be do lah.

Becoz of the condenser dryer also power rate on 2700w, but ppl wouldn't do any pull a new wire from DB.
But make sure your existing socket wire is pull from DB then shouldn't be a problem.

If you too concern in future then just go with 15A plus and pull new wires from DB.

Hi guys, apologies if i hijacked this thread. Was just wanting to ask about the wiring for my new oven.

Purchased a built in electrolux EOB2400 rated at 2780w.

Ive been getting mixed opinions on the wiring,
1) to pull an additional cable from the DB. (Messy and least favourite option)
2) to just use a current plug.
3) to jus change the plug to a 15a plug.

Which of the above are not true?(sound like an exam?) tongue.gif

Heres a photo of the actual plug point im planning to use. It will be connected to a soon to be built kitchen cabinet. It is not shared with any other socket other than a room socket used primarily for a table fan. The DB box unit is Marked In green as in the photo below.

Any the final questions are,

4) how much does an electrician charge for such services?
5) do you guys have any suggestions for electricians in subang or shah alam area?

Thanks in advance!

From my limited knowledge, I think option C is fine. Cos if not, the point might melt and trip your power. Just make sure don't share with other appliances when using d oven on the same point.

Just for updates, I bought my oven in Feb. I finally chose a brand and ironically it wasn't in my wish list, the Belling BI60MF. It was on promo and I love the fact that it is direct from the UK and carries a 5 year warranty (2 from the manufacturer and 3 from the local store). It was on promo price and I find it reasonably priced.

Have yet to install it so can't really share any experiences with it yet.

Hi, i also want to buy an oven but I am not interested to bake a cake or pizza. Just use it to roast and grill only. So, will convection + microwave (2in1) more than enough for my needs?

I have tried roasting a whole chicken in a 2-in-1 microwave/convection oven and it turned out fine. The skin will crisp and the inside is juicy (depending on your recipe). I even tried making "fried" chicken coated with flour before and it turned out crispy (texture-wise, of course can't be compared to frying with oil).

Mine was an old model of 2-in-1, not the newer models that you see nowadays. Basically, for grilling and roasting, I believe the microwave/convection oven will work OK due to the fan-forced heat and the turn-table.

A cake will also turned out OK (although the top will be a bit dry), if you are not too particular. IMHO, as the 2-in-1 is usually smaller compared to ovens, the heat might be "too near" to the food and thus some time/temp adjustment to your recipe might be required.

You need to consider the size of wiring for oven. 4mm size should do the trick otherwise the wire will melt because it cannot take the heat with time.

Then the wattage.. 2780w/220v = 12.6A so rounding it to nearest number, then it would be 13A although it wouldn't hurt to play safe and use a 15A socket.

So if you going to use option 3, make sure the wire size is correct as well.

I think you can consider the Electrolux EOB2400AOX. It was on offer at Seloka Sukma Damansara Uptown. The price offered to me was around RM2300 (in March).

I settled for the Belling at RM2200 because it's made in the UK and has 2+3 years warranty. Hope that helps.

You can find a dealer nearest to you here:
http://bellingcookers.com.my/dealer-locations/

I have enquired it in ESH, they do carry the brand but if you need to see a model on display you can go to Harvey Norman at IPC (I assume you are in Klang Valley). I bought from HN at IPC. If they (Belling) are having a promo, you can find it on their website. The model that I bought was selling for RM2999 originally if I remember correctly.
