Hi guys I would like to know the difference between Intel and AMD....does AMD have battery saving mode like Intel? AMD are famous for hot chips, so what if I run more than 4 hours?
Centrino or Turion64?

Yeap.. Prasys is right!
Turion is 64-bit and it has something like Intel's speedstep but it's called AMD PowerNow! and it runs great with Notebook Hardware Control. |

Turion64 platform is attractive becasue of the low cost. Compared with the Core Duos you get more computing power per ringgit, and 64-bit support. Still, it's performance per ringgit - for absolute computing power and battery performance you still cannot beat Centrino. This is Intel's killer platform and they are fully intent on keeping it that way.
I would wait for the 64-bit Core 2 Duo Centrino notebooks to become available widely before making a comparison, since it's not really fair right now (the Turion can do something the Core Duo can't at all. |

I doubt you can find a laptop that can run 8 hours straight. I'm using a Thinkpad with extra capacity battery and it gives me 4.5 hours only.Oh if you have money to burn, go for the Centrino 2 Duo. Else Centrino Duo. Turion is cheap though but performance wise still lacking. |

I get about 7.5 hours on my fujitsu P7010D with the modular bay battery. And it doesn't have any extra protrusions either heh.Oh if you have money to burn, go for the Centrino 2 Duo.
