Turion64 platform is attractive becasue of the low cost. Compared with the Core Duos you get more computing power per ringgit, and 64-bit support. Still, it's performance per ringgit - for absolute computing power and battery performance you still cannot beat Centrino. This is Intel's killer platform and they are fully intent on keeping it that way.
I would wait for the 64-bit Core 2 Duo Centrino notebooks to become available widely before making a comparison, since it's not really fair right now (the Turion can do something the Core Duo can't at all.
