my personal take is that this has nothing to do with left handers wearing watches (i'm a left hander as well!) but more on they need something "new". creating a new colour is not gonna work already as that's what they have done for years. They did not really update the explorer 2, the explorer 1 went from a 36 to a 39 and back to a 36.

a lot of news outlet have been bashing rolex for years. Ben clymer from hodinkee has said that rolex has been dropping the ball for the past 5 years. there has been no real watch novelties coming out from them. the last time "innovation" was seen would be an update for the gmt and sub models from a 40 to a 60hr power reserve, or the creation of the oyster flex.

other than that, its more of a rehash of colors, mix and match of cases etc.

Got hooked to watches some time last year. Wanted a Rolex but after finding out the actual market situation, I totally gave up on Rolex. Didn't even bother to get on the waitlist because the sales persons arrogantly didn't give a hoot when I was there. Bought a Tudor in January this year just to 'scratch the itch'. Currently I'm wearing my Tudor from morning till bedtime, happy ...

I'm also waitlisted at Omega for the 2022 release. Somehow I feel that Omega is too 'commercialised' with too many models available. Why this newfound hobby has to be so torturous?!!!

Got it, should it be all Tudor and same Sales agent?  because I have purchase history from Tudor THG midvalley and and Omega in THG Lot10.
And im planning to get a Zenith and that would be in Gardens (Watch of Switzerland), so different Sales agent but THG still.

AWG: 2  Chrono, 1 Blackbay 58, all zero waiting list. as it was mco period, got it once i made a full deposit within 7 days

THG: 2 Chrono, 1 blackbay 58, 1 bluebay, 1 silverbay, blackbay 41, Batman. Started off with the blackbay 41, then came the OG 58,blue,silver, 2 chrono within a span of 3 months.
Stopped the rolex game eversince i learned about the purchasing history reset.

Rolex enters pre-owned watch market with certification programme

GENEVA (Dec 1): Rolex SA will begin issuing certificates of authenticity to authorised dealers selling its pre-owned watches, in a move that will give the Swiss company more oversight of its products and shake up the US$20 billion market for secondhand luxury timepieces.

Swiss dealer Bucherer will be the first to begin selling pre-owned Rolex watches that are certified as authentic by the company at stores across Europe, Rolex said on its website.

Other authorised Rolex dealers can begin participating in the programme in the spring of 2023. Rolex said it will only certify watches that are at least three-years old, in an effort to dissuade so-called flippers who sell new watches at prices above retail.

The move to authenticate its own pre-owned watches marks a significant shift for Rolex, whose timepieces dominate secondhand sales at dealers and online. The luxury pre-owned watch market is expected to grow to US$35 billion by 2030, according to Deloitte.

Rolex previously had no role in authenticating or tracking its products once they had been sold to its dealer network. The programme will also help to guard against fakes.

Non-authorised dealers who sell second-hand watches in person and online, as well as auction houses won’t be able to take part.

Other Swiss watchmakers have already been certifying secondhand watches. Rolex watches account for the largest share of pre-owned watches sold. 

Smaller rival brands including Vacheron Constantin and Zenith sell certified pre-owned watches at their own boutiques, as do independent brands such as H Moser & Cie and MB&F. Richemont, which owns Vacheron, as well as a stable of brands including Jaeger-LeCoultre, IWC and A Lange & Sohne, bought online reseller Watchfinder in 2018.

In some cases, the programme will likely see authorised dealers selling certified pre-owned watches at higher prices than new ones offered at retail. Models including the Rolex Submariner, Daytona and GMT typically sell at a premium to retail prices as retail demand outstrips supply.

Rolex is the biggest Swiss watch brand producing about one million watches a year with annual sales of about eight billion Swiss francs (US$8.5 billion) and a market share close to 29%, according to Morgan Stanley estimates.
