I purchased my first Rolex back in November and looks like I've been bitten by the bug with the second purchase.

I'm no WIS and I'm still learning about all the models. I remember seeing the 'Batman' in the Rolex catalogue and thought that's nice, but the sales person put a cross on it and says it's difficult to get. Similar crosses on the Hulk and DeepBlue. I haven't bought from the AD before and were clueless about Rolexes... I was thinking probably no chance of even seeing the BLNR in store. I eventually settled on the EXII which I do like the sportiness and it doesn't scream Rolex. The GMT was handy as I travel quite a lot.

However a month later with a little more research and being on this forum (bad idea), I was still itching for the BLNR and the only time I've seen and try one on was at the Grey dealers. Naively I learnt that it's almost impossible to get one without a long waiting list and being laughed at (18 months I've been told in most UK ADs) I guess I could wait and hope that there won't be another price hike again. Had my name down with my local AD and 4 months on I had the phone call. It helps that I got to know the staff and built a relationship with the AD.

I'm glad I don't have to deal with all the malarkey about ADs removing stickers or keeping the warranty card. I won't be selling mine anyway but it's nice to have everything intact. The AD and staff was a pleasure to deal with.

The 'gifts' I had this time was a service pouch and a Cartier cleaning kit which I'm still pleased with.

I have no idea what it means too. Probably it means all the relevant paperwork?

Kelvw excellent purchase, congrats and enjoy in good health. I am waiting from mine as well, but from grey dealer as ADs here are asking too pricey a premium. Can be bought for retail, if you also purchase a solid gold piece from them, lol. Btw, excellent pictures as well!
*
Thanks! I didn't expect to get mine so soon. Don't mind me asking how much are the Grey dealers in comparison to the ADs? Luckily there's non of that palava here in UK about having to buy another watch, although I think it would help in getting more sought after pieces quicker.

Sorry and pardon my ignorance, what is the malarkey about?

Congratulations and wear it in good health. That is a gorgeous piece.
*
Thanks smile.gif Some ADs are a bit cautious about flippers, people buying it and flipping it to the grey market the next day for a profit. So in order to stop that from happening, ADs would remove all the stickers from the watch and some instances withholding warranty card for a certain period of time.

@garrick86
Personally I prefer the blue dial! I'd love to have one

Hello, can i know which street in TST u found the rolex 2nd watches? im going there next month and wanna go and take a look .. is it worthy to buy there?
*
It's near Miramall..called Champagne Court. Do a quick google search and you can find it. MisterChrono has a shop there too if you're lookimg for straps.
Most popular SS is not available in the big ADs but plenty in the grey dealers

sorry bro , can i ask whats SS and grey dealers? im new to this hobby please teach me more .
*
I'm still learning too smile.gif
SS is stainless steel and here's a link to explain the grey market in detail smile.gif Usually sought after pieces are sold at higher prices from the grey dealers but they tend have them stocked compared to Authorised dealers.

Took a few photos from yesterday evening's event over at the Rolex boutique over at Bond St. London. Place was a bit small but nevertheless I had the pleasure to try out the new releases.
The skydwellers are nice and so is the SD43 however I've got really small wrist so I'm giving it all a pass

Enjoy the pics.

The white SkyDweller has light sheen to it, almost satin like which is nice. The blue one has a waiting list of 2 years I've been told.

Thank you for sharing your pics. Really want to see the SD43 and Sky Dweller in person. DJ41 also very interesting. We're a little slower, but dealers should have the previews sometime next week.

And, after some wait, finally...

*
That's a nice shot. Did you have to wait long for yours?
RM34k is a pretty good price at the AD. Over here in UK, it's about £6550 (RM36,700). Some places stopped taking names on the list, similar with the HUlk as well.
Although I managed to get my name down for the hulk... it's just waiting now, probably a few weeks.

Posted this in another forum, so if you have seen it my apologies but thought I'd share it here too.

Been invited to another BaselWorld'17 preview again but this time over at Warwickshire. Since having attended the preview night over at Rolex Boutique London, I wasn't sure if I should go again. The venue was at Coombe Abbey Hotel which is a rather nice historic building, I thought why not and I'm glad I did.

I think it was a good idea to host it in one place by Goldsmiths Luxury, Watches of Switzerland and Mappin&Webb. The atmosphere that evening was much better and well put together.

Champagne and canapés to start off the evening. Various ADs from Birmingham, Leicester, Nottingham was there (I believe there were more)
We were brought upstairs shortly after where the watches were displayed.

Since I've already checked out the Professional models in London, I thought I'd spend a bit more time on others as well. The Datejust41 on jubilee bracelet is gorgeous. My wife thinks so too and she loves the new DJ28.

The blue dial did it for me.

We stayed till closing and enjoyed the overall experience. Staff weren't pushy and was very accomodating. I guess it's more relaxed than being in a store.

Been contemplating on purchasing Mondani books for awhile now as I've not been able to see the contents and also they're not cheap either. Decided to bite the bullet with my first copy of the 'Steel Rolex' and I'm happy to say I'm pretty pleased with the amount of images and information that's been gathered. It's well sized especially for a coffee table book and the print is sharp and the colours are vibrant.

Definitely learnt a lot from it as I've not seen so many unusual vintage rolex, captured in detail. This issue has also included models from Baselworld 2016 and the usual current models as well. I particularly liked the write up on military rolexes and seeing different engravings on the back cover. From a book design stand point, it is well laid out and has enough variance in the layout to keep your interest going. It breaks down the monotony by introducing facts, stories, collage of photos and detailed shots.
I'm not a WIS so I do find some information a bit much for casual reading but I suppose that's good for some. I just enjoyed drooling over the photos instead.

Overall I'm pleased and worth saving up for. I'll be looking forward to other Mondani books especially the Sub and GMT Master editions.

As usual the obligitory photos.

Looks like the Home Office Border force is pretty keen to see what's in the box. Never had a package inspected before and this is a first for me. There're couple of knocks and tear on the side packaging but it seemed pretty robust and wasn't worried for any damages.

user posted image

Package is very well packed with padding all around, top, sides and bottom. The book is also protected by a cardboard slip.

The Steel edition comes with free Tshirt, a nice gesture.

Mondani included a few other bits as well. A Steel Rolex price guide, Mondani collection of Vintage Rolex, a large A2 catalogue foldout and the membership card. (I got to read up to see what the perks are)

Thanks for sharing Kelvw and nice pictures indeed. I thought about buying the book(s) as well, but they are so expensive after conversion that I just had to pass! Did you get them during a sale period? If not, you should keep an eye out for year end sale to complete the set.
*
r3kahsttubjsflim thanks!

They are bloody expensive but I think it is worth it in the library if you're big rolex fan. Some of the stuff i've never seen before are all in the book.
i got them in the sale but even that it's still pretty expensive at 252 Euro. I'm thinking of the Sub and GMT book next but got to save up first.

Is it true london still cheaper after vat refund? Considering now pound is around 5.4. Will it be cheaper there? Anyone experienced?
*
Vat refund is roughly about 16% after all the admin charges etc. You won't get a full 20% vat back.
I would presume it's cheaper in UK since I always see tourist buying up alot of the rolexes here. However it really depends what you're looking for, plenty of Gold/Two Tones but if you're looking for SS, then you probably won't find any of the popular ones i.e. subs, GMTs, Daytona. Waiting list is too long and most AD in London has stopped taking in names.

How much you got it now? Just wonder how much it appreciated since my purchased last November.

Got mine in uk at retail £6550 (RM36.5k) but similar situation here, you dont see it on display and the waiting list is 1 to 2 years. I know London has stopped taking in names. Grey dealers are selling for close to £7900 (RM44k)
Luckily I waited less than 3 months..helps to know the AD smile.gif I was pushed up the list.
