Hi sifu...

Need some guidance here... In progress setup a plant tank (+shrimp + guppy)

Below is my setup
Tank : Aquaone 34L
Substract : China brand ADA L and S size, 3l each (Thickness around 3'-4')
Filter : China brand external hanging filter
Plant : Christmas Moss, Micranthemum Monte Carlo, Eleocharis Sp. (Mini Hair Grass) & Hemianthus Callitrichoides

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

After setup 1 week, been throw some Cherry shrimp but all die the next day, I'm suspect Ammonia level as I only had TDS tester which show TDS ~290, now after few round of water changing (10% daily), TDS had drop to 170 something.

My question is
1. Initial I though wanna try no Co2, but its seen the plant is yellowish, any suggestion of Co2 setup (tank size, regulator, soleniod) for 34L tank? (Co2 will follow light timing, 8H/day)

2. Facing some algae issue (greenish on glass, and yellowish on stone), after putting the cheap shrimp(黑壳虾), its solve some, but the glass and stone still there, any suggestion for such small tank?
Lighting is LED 11w, Brand : Jinyin DF36, 11W 8H/day

My intention is just having some greenish at home for relaxing purpose, so looking not complicated setup, but when saw the plant cant grow, and really spoil my mood.

Regulator and solenoid- they are a combo set. get together.
why do u need a dual stage? i have both single and dual stage and they are fine
it should cost around RM 300, but recently there is this WUFAN brand which cost 150 or so.

check valve and bubble counter...  there are many type in the market. get something simply will do.
Diffuser- i would rather pay more attention on this. Be particular on the bubble size..... it should be small and float around to side way with the water stream as it travel up... this allow for more time/surface contact and dissolve better in water. You would not large bubble to travel up and pops at the surface.

i would've just change to Neo ( around Rm 50). Previously using Ista UFO, which also give nice fine bubble- just that it is bulky and affect my scape.

Thanks, Neo Diffusor OTW smile.gif

Got some question on my Up-Aqua Co2 Tank FaceUp version
I found hardly to get any suitable face up regulator, anyone been using face side regulator on face top tank?
If you using Up-Aqua, just want to make sure does it W21.8 thread?

Update my nano 35l tank after 1 month.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Decide to add Co2 system last week, now is 3rd day after Co2 up, so far so good rclxm9.gif
As not using big external canister filter, so unable use in-line with outlet, thereby I place Neo Co2 Diffusor nearby water inlet.
The Co2 bubble will direct get suck into my mini-canister filter (can check type of mini canister filter from my previous post)

Introduce a poso orange rabbit snail & shrimp to control my algae as unable get otocinclus from any aquarium.
I found Shrimp like the Mulberry leaf a lot (Saw from a youtuber tried feed this)

Can anyone share the treatment used for Cyanobacteria? I’ve know Fritz Maracyn And API erythromycin works, but I can’t seem to find the item in Lazada or shopee.

I cover up(black out) whole tank for 4 days, the BGA become dull out and gone

What do you guys use to accurately dose Flourish in small tank? Using the cap is difficult if you want to dose 1ml of Flourish. Each cap thread is 1ml but I'm not confident to measure using the cap.

BTW, I have 4ft tank (119.7 gallons, 453.6 liters) non planted tank that I use to put extra water lettuce especially for multiplying it but they did not do well. So I want to dose Flourish & flourish nitrogen. Should I calculate the whole tank when dosing it or I should dose less?
*
Can try this
https://shopee.com.my/product/147270353/6231202018
Or
https://shopee.com.my/Terumo-Syringe-Luer-S...1777.2711482206

or bring your kids go clinic, they will FOC syringe tube laugh.gif

BTW, always try lower the dose and check how your tank react according(1~2 week), the instruction is just for referance, its depend on your plant qty and type etc

didnt feed them anything
just leave them eat algae forever

If you like to see more babies, feed them once or twice per week...
Shrimp food really cheap, even you can feed some Mulberry leaf(桑叶) if your area someone plant it...

Got another free same tank as current setup. (10g tank)
Current tank is Fire Red NeoCaridina + Co2 setup.

Just bought Chihiros RGB A-Plus A601 to upgrade the lighting and will sharing across two tank.

So, now my question is Co2 sharing, as I already having regulator with solenoid and don't like to get another Co2 tank system.
Any one try using splitting via Aquarium Multi CO2 Needle Valve

Setup condition>>

i have a splitter ( i think Mufan)-  it will work though take a bit of patience to set it up.
coz if you open one side more, the other side will suffer. Some fine tuning needed for few few day- and there after it is good to go.
do have bubble counter and check valve at both side- for easier to visualize

anotehr CO2 tank and solenoid is just too expensive.
*
OK, I'm curious how to join from regulator to splitter.

Regulator > Tube > splitter > check valve
or
Regulator > splitter > check valve

Yes, I had another bubble counter ready for each outlet later. Will get another neo diffuser too.

Here u go- can refer my set up. I use a 3 way splitter instead of 2 way.... coz not much difference in price and in case I wanna 3rd tank.

Agree the regulator outlet face down is causing issue.
The “Tee” in your photo cannot be splitter - coz it don’t have valve.
Though - If possible, u may use it to divert the regulator valve outlet to the side ( ie elbow).

If u lost- u May PM me.
*
Thanks for feedback.
Yes, been consider purchase 3 way but thinking may not fit so had purchase 2 way to test out now.
Currentlyl, i join to a tube and holding by a nut, as the splitter join is incoming with thread, its seen work as long as during assembly is not blocking...

For backup plan, I added a adjustable valve after the "Tee" join, but this may having inconsistent pressure on both end.

Ok
It doeasnt have soil
I try without filter or minimal use then
I suspect the zebras waste
Move them out already

Maybe they starve then
I will get mulberry as someone suggest

I think i too impatient
The new shrimps
Swim round & round
Up & down for hours
Is it a bad sign ?
A few seem to ne settling down
Ok
Put soil already
Looks more natural now
Ya noticed the zebra sometimes nip
Punish them
Put in another container

The hang on filter got sponge
Isit good enuf for bacteria ?
*
shrimp swiming up and down meaning water parameter no good.
High chance they will die soon...

Always cycle at least 3-4 week before any live stock.
Shrimp is sensitive so get 1-2 to test before other

Bacteria need some habitat to live, example this Chihiros is good but HOB filter having limited of space for it.

Yes, you can either dip in hot water for 15min to let the leaf soften.

Always get a cheap shrimp(the one feed fish) MYR1-2 at LFS first to test water
Once they grow up, rmb to throw them away

Update on my Co2 splitter status.

Received ZRDR 2 way split and purchase from https://shopee.com.my/product/169129062/6441346376
Its come with extention.
Attached Image

I'm using Ista Co2 regulator with solenoid, the outlet is facing down.
Attached Image

Its able to join without the extension, however its still minor touch to tank, i need to grind the splitter on the edge there.
Some tips for those wanna to use, do remember using bubble water to test any leakage on any join.
The less join, the less issue.

good that you got a solution.
yes- do test with soap water... a little bit messy but safe you another trip to get the CO2 refilled.

it does looks ok, which part does it contact??

actually, you are not able to rotate the regulator outlet valve ( the one makerd S-Y) by 90deg?- so the fitting will face front instead of down?

the way to do it, is to remove the valve, use teflon tape (PTFE) and reinstall it

cheers
*
The tank's nut crash with splitter head. Check the bottom picture.

I dont want to take the risk for any leakage if I rotate 90deg then unable seal back... I done some house water piping fix last time, its a nightmare to touch something that had no issue....

if the tank nuts... then you may rotate the "complete regulator assembly"
shut the tank valve, and open the regulator connection... the rough thing just above the nuts. you need to do this evertime you send you tank out for refill right?
Rotate the complete regulator by 90 deg- then screw back the connector.

hope you understand this.
no harm on grinding the splitter a little, but seems more works
*
Its only thread to the regulator

I believe split make from Alu, its not that hard to grind compare SS. (BTW, I'm mechanical designer... lol, got all handmake tool with me)

what i mean is turn this rough surface- then the top part (regulator body)  will come off from the cylinder valve.

the lower part- is the cylider valve- it is to be shut off and remain with the cylinder body.
*
yaya, wait until next refill time, my 2l Co2 for 10g tank, so far run 6 month ady... just drop from 90 > 80%

My next incoming upgrade Eheim Classis 250 + Inline diffuser for this tank.

Got another identical free tank now standby as Co2 splitting is ready.
Thinking dry start Iwagumi style + Caridina Shrimp, looking for inspiration now...
Currently using MC as carpet but its my first time setup so a lot of mistake.
The second tank gonna do it more nicely, maybe challenge HC hmm.gif

if you plant just setup, a lot of unknow species will come out, after the tank stable, only those taken care will survive...
Again Aquascape is not 1-2 month thing... those you see beautiful took time to maintain
