Im using Wavepoint 30W 8000k Daylight LED, it should be enough just that i took this picture in daytime with very strong reflection.
Once thinking to use T5HO, but the temperature might be an issue, now using LED with 24/7 fan, the temp stable around 26-27.
Im using ADA Amazonia.
*
i'm also using same wave point,
HC is not very light demanding, but u need 2 make sure ur CO2 is strong for it

*

my Eheim 2217 is somehow spraying air in my 2.5'..like between 10-15min there will be bubbles inside the canister and you can hear it swirling and the bubble comes out from the outlet and the pump back to silent mode again..it's not that loud and annoying..the noise is still bearable..but i plan to buy inline co2 reactor like this http://www.lelong.com.my/ista-co2-reactor-...6-10-Sale-P.htm but afraid the bubble from the canister will accumulate with the co2 in the reactor..and does it effect the process in the reactor?.

p/s: i only open up the inlet valve around 3/4 from full capacity..is that the reason?.
*
nope, no problem 1, remove the air in ur canister thn it won't annoy you anymore
tis reactor prone 2 water leak u will need those thread seal tape, or buy a better 1

i'm using tis

Read up on how to use dry ferts. Save much more this way compared to commercialized bottled ferts.

Hi, I'm new to planted aquarium. Hope sifus here can help me with some questions.
Also, this is for a small aquarium.

1. Where do you recommend to buy ADA soil? maybe in loose pack.
2. Is cool temperature necessary for shrimp tank? Just put in living room without aircond can?
3. Is powersand and all the 5 vitamin bottles (bacter ... etc) mandatory?

Thanks.
*
for beginner planted and shrimp is not a good mix, shrimp is sensitive to co2 and fertilizer (especially iron and copper)
too much co2 shrimp die, too little co2 plant die

1. any aquashop, i know fish depot got sell it in PJ
2. get cherry shrimp, led fixture can heat up water if too close to water, they are not sensitive to high temperature, no need get a fan nor chiller if water not exceed 31 degree
3. powrsand + bacter make bacteria settle easily cycle ur tank faster, 5 vitamins n minerals make ur shrimps adjust 2 the new environment easily & mold easily, not madatory

get little cherry shrimp, plant mini hair grass, fern or plants that does not require high co2 and high fertilizer dose
adjust co2 to green level, dose good amount of fert and you can easily get a nice carpet of hair grass
lower co2 if shrimp die, until u r comfortable then only introduce expensive shimps like crs

or iwagumi is not up 2 ur taste thn go with monte carlo dry start 6weeks after carpet
thn only fill up the tank with water and do background scape, after another week u can introduce few fish and crs without needing to cycle the tank
as bacteria already settle in the soil

avoid getting pearlgrass / hc / ug

mini hair grass iwagumi shrimp tank or monte carlo dry start then aquascape

Hi guys, is this efficient enough for a 15" high aquarium?

Thanks!

I manage to grow HC with one of tis, i think it is pretty much ok
but i think RM 100 is quite expensive, maybe get a new one instead? wavepoint lights are not that expensive
even if led have long life span u don't knw how long its going 2 last

Thanks. I managed to find a 2nd hand EHEIM 2215 for 288 but will need to pick it up at Cheras (no idea where that is... Google Maps to the rescue!)

Which bring me up to my next question to all experienced, sifus and gurus. What filter media is the best to put in it or which ones are essential for a planted tank?
*
certainly biohome filter media, very effective

Will there be problems if I use EHEIM Classic 600 to a 100L tank?
*
normally we get double or triple of the recommended size as many ppl recommendation

bcauz
- planted tank u have not just fish poop 2 worry abt, plant rotting old leaves and the fertilizer too
- flow rate might not be strong enough 4 the CO2 to reach all parts of the tanks especially the foreground plants

i don't knw how 2 advise, bcauz i don't knw wat & how much of fishes u going 2 buy, how much substrate u going to put, wat plants / aqua scape type u going do
maybe a more experienced ppl can help ujelly
if u r experienced, i think it is sufficient, with a power head

Planning on putting mostly danios and I have 2 bags of the Aqua soil Amazonia (9L). For plants, I have no idea yet, but I'm thinking of putting "mini hair grass" for "carpet", some Rotala Rotundifolia Red and Limnophila Aquatica at the back  (I just saw them in lelong and I kinda liked them  drool.gif ). Other than those, I'm still on the lookout on what other plants I may add. I am also torn between dutch and jungle style confused.gif that's why I am trying to get the best advises from all the sifus here.  thumbsup.gif  thumbsup.gif  thumbsup.gif

If the EHEIM 600 is for 180 to 600 L tanks, I can use it definitely jsut for the sake of using but I was thinking that it might blow the plants or the fishes to the side of the tank! Hahaha!
*
never trust the 600L maximum recommendation, i think it is pretty much sufficient
