anyone using silica cat litter?
would like to find out, does it really absorb the cat urine? and also the cat poo sure will smear on the silica and make it dirty...? cos i saw the silica is like small stone size nowadays, and for sure the urine will easily flow to the bottom of the box, cos the gap between silica is so big compared to fine clay... |

QUOTE(usmanjailani @ Jul 10 2017, 10:53 AM) pine wood cat litter hv not try pellets, so i wana ask, since the pellet will break n become like sawdust when kena urine, then do u leave it in the box ? or how do you remove it?i use this..RM78-RM98++ varies by petshop.. overall satisfied..fast absorption..but it not clumping together when react to water..it just become like wood dust.. but the tidy cat brand, yellow bag one, without scent additive, very busuk aft peepoo.. if added scent, they add chemical into it... so some is scentless. This post has been edited by basilisk: Jul 12 2017, 11:54 PM |

QUOTE(badai @ Jul 19 2017, 12:59 PM) bought that power cat from adabi. oh i tot of buying powercat to test too.my cat didn't like it. give it to street cats. they didn't like it too. epic failed. most probably their tester didn't provide other cat food to choose so their hungry cat have no choice but to eat it. how does it smell? like any other supermarket brand? i think smell of friskies n wiskas is considered ok n acceptable. |

i tot all cat, kitten or adult the stool will be damn smelly no matter wht they eat. cos i hv compared stray cat poo tht eat dono wht to those tht eat more rice n left over to those tht only fed on commercial kibbles.. all damn smelly.., but i prefer the ori cat poo smell than those fed on certain kibble tht smell more like human poo...

a litter box trained cat if put in a cage with any type of litter, will definitely use it, even tho he don prefer tht type of litter..., so u can actually force ur cat to use the type of litter u prefer, wait for him to shit or pee first in the cage befor letting him out.

QUOTE(aikachan @ Jul 26 2017, 07:53 PM) Hello, guys! I have a kitten (around 4 months old), she used to eat Powercat and smartheart before, but after I found out it's not good for my kitten, I switched to IAMS dry food. She doesnt like it tho. She only eat it when I put it on my hand. I tried giving her Royal Canin wet food and she love it. Mixed it a bit with IAMS and she eat both. However now her stools are really soft, sometimes it's 50% stool with shape and sometimes it just in liquid form. Is this normal because I recently changed from dry to wet or should I just bring her to the vet? watery stool? u mean. if the frequency of ciritbirit is high, then better see vet, if normal poo time, then most likely food problem. try to stick with the type of food tht produce the best stool. i believe iams definitely more palatable/smells better than powercat or smart heart. but iams the oren pack is not much better in terms of ingredient if u look at it. iams is much more expensive becos its made in usa, cost of iams u can get better cat food like happy cat, matisse, etc tht is cheaper. a hungry kitten will eat any kibble given almost. but my experience is wit kucing kg oni.. lol.. |

the stray animal issue is a never ending problem worldwide.
i think that it is the government that should initiate and work towards reducing strays. i have been following works if ngos and individual private rescuers for some time, so far all of them are concentrating on rescues, have not seen any that starts working to solve the " source " of the problem, as usual , talk is easy.. so lets start with cat, why so many stray cats? - still many people are against spaying.. - spaying/neutering is EXPENSIVE to them, recently the selangor gov has started to subsidize spaying this is a very good start. but selangor as malaysia's richest? state can do even more. the subsidy is limited and many will not bother to go for it, many still haven't heard of it. animal activists / ngo etc can actually go and spread the info, talk to ppl, help them get their cat neutered.. |

QUOTE(rmsk932 @ Aug 20 2017, 03:02 PM) I agree rescuing is just trying to fix the problem not the source. If found people to adopt it's good else finally they put down the animals also right? spaying in penang the lowest cost i have found so far is frm a vet @ bayan baru, Spaying is actually quite expensive as my vet says need to vaccinate 3 times first before spaying the mother stray. Is that true elsewhere? Only way is SPCA or vets offering free spaying as a public service but doubt will happen as a big source of vets income. Any subsidy in Penang? The other is illegal breeding farms which folks just need to stop buying pets but start adopting free from friends and centers. That's just my opinion right or wrong. the trap neuter and release group in pg send the cats to her for spaying and neutering. normal vets will say need to fully vaccinate 3 times, but hey we are dealing with strays you know, first catching them is an issue, now you want to catch them 3 times in 2 months then only can spay/neuter them? by tht time the females already given birth. so the vets that support neutering/spaying, would not insist on fully vaccinate the cats and dogs, they will just vaccinate once and then neuter at the same time. ngo and vet cant afford to offer free neutering, it is the local gov or some rich organization that should do it. penang gov is planning a neuter stray program, not sure when it will happen. |

QUOTE(RaymondReddington @ Aug 20 2017, 06:05 PM) I rescued 2 cats and recently found they have fleas. Was clean last time I checked. imo, it all depends on how much you can tahan the fleas. some ppl can live with cats with some fleas, n they use natural remedies to keep the fleas in check. if your cat is 100% indoor, it is easier to manage. Now with flea comb can whack about 5 to 10 initially but now because of regular combing and bath already down to 2 to 3 per day and today is zero. But I believe they will come back so I started buying a bagged vacuum to clean the floor and sofa/chair they sleep on. I bath my cats in dish washing soap for now. I have not used any active spot-on products yet, should I ? I am considering advantage for cats but I heard from pet store salesperson that it is not allowed to be sold in retail, and it's vet prescription only. Should I use a spot-on product to turn my cats into a walking flea bomb? I doubt my vacuuming/cleaning can get all the eggs/larvae immediately, as I am trying to permanently break the flea life cycle and I wonder if spot on products would help in addition to baths, vacuum, flea combing. one option is to use those flea poison like advantage, frontline, use it a few times to totally eliminate the fleas, then your cat wont get new fleas cos they r 100% indoor advantage use different poison compare to frontline, adv cant kill ticks, but frontline can. ive found ticks on outdoor cats. spot on poison is much more concentrated than spray version. and you r to only apply between the shoulder blade, behind the neck. to prevent the cat frm licking the liquid u can put ecollar on them n wait for it to dry. most cat wont show any problem aft licking it tho. |

i hv bought revolution last time, yes most expensive, but heart worm is not really a concern for cats.
you dont hv to use it every month once the flea is under control. frontline is cheapest n effective. if u use the spray type is better cos spray abit on the section where u find alot of flea droppings, put ecollar so the cat cant lick, wait til it dries. the fleas will go there n kena poison. hv to be carefull dont kena the cat eye when spraying, put d nozzle close to the skin, small squirt, use glove n rub the area so it spreads.. dont hv to follow the instruction, cos it is too excessive. aft one round of flea shampoo, most of d flea will b killed. |

QUOTE(rmsk932 @ Aug 24 2017, 04:20 PM) thanks a lot basilisk and kiswan for your inputs. The stray is actually mother of the kittens whom I'm taking also but escaped once now worry pregnant again. i hv pm u the details, Where's the vet in bayan baru and maybe I can check if got government vet? Thanks. Dunno how to link photos here but got in my blogs. Still new adding articles and photos when slow and steady. My Khao Manees: http://FrozenInPenang.blogspot.my My Mini Schnauzer: http://MiniInPenang.blogspot.my last year I need to spay a mom cat still nursing kittens, so start to ask around rescue groups in penang where they send the cats for neutering. thats where i got this klinik, they never mention gov clinic, so you have to find out whether there is such a service in penang. the price for female stray cat is RM150, need to notch the ear to show it has been neutered. ask around you will find the price difference. btw, in KL the lowest price of neutering cat is by a private vet, even lower than klinik kembiri spca.. this is the price in 2011, now 2017 of cos not the same anymore Pemandulan Haiwan Peliharaan 16 February 2011 at 21:35 DBKL-SPCA KLINIK KEMBIRI Female cat spaying is RM 70 - RM 100. Male cat castration is RM 50 - RM 80 this is the website of jab perkhidmatan veterinar PPinang http://dvs.penang.gov.my/index.php?lang=my can't find any info on pemandulan etc.. QUOTE(RaymondReddington @ Sep 1 2017, 03:59 PM) The vet didn't know/expect the antibiotics was the cause. I had to google online and voluntarily stop it and the vet also agreed later since my cat stopped vomitting after I stopped the antibiotics and vomit medication. clavamox is very often prescribed to cats by vets, most of the time it doesn't cause any problem. |
