kinda related to the issue

my cat likes to sit on a high cabinet to look outside during mornings

the sun shines directly into his sight

will this be no good to him?
*
That's should be no problem I think.

My cats like to sleep in the morning/daytime & ransacking the place at night. biggrin.gif

Any affordable dry cat food to recommend? I bought prodiet and really regret when opening it, full of vibrant color. Seeing those color really defeat the purpose whether they are using real fish or not.
*
Depending on how you defined affordable, you'll likely need to pay 3 times more than what you pay for prodiet. Just give you a heads up. LuQEE listed above some of the brand that you & your cat might like.

If I could afford the premium one then it would be good. Maybe I go back to the old brand before I change to prodiet.

What is the reason you decided to changed from the old brand?

Many ppl say whiskas is bad for their health. I have tried cutiecatz, friskies for kitten chicken flavor (old packaging). None of them have this crazy food coloring. The prodiet I buy because its main ingredient is real fish, which i think should be good. But the coloring really give me a big slap.
*
I have feed my cats with prodiet dry food a couple of times before. All I can say my cats have good bowel movement with it. biggrin.gif Whenever my cats have diarrhea, I feed them prodiet. It calm their digestive system right away.

Middle-grade cat food that is not really expensive that I know are Kiska & Visscay. Less colorful & slightly better ingredients. You might want to try them.

Isn't the food coloring abit extreme? is it safe to be consumed in long term?

I have never heard it is a bad thing. So far none of the articles I have read talk about coloring. I would believe if it was based on a proper research though.

Been lurking at this thread for awhile now... Glad to see so many cat lovers!
Question, any body tried using the automated food dispenser for their cats? I am travelling so no one is around to feed the cats. Wondering if it is a good option.
*
Sorry, I have never use one before. Even if you use automated food dispenser, you should at least ask your neighbor or friends to come & check out your cat even at least once a day is enough.

My kitten (2.5 months) is having flu now. Currently he is very active (playing non-stop). But sometimes he sneeze and runny left eye. Vet gave me an eye drop, but doesn't give me any medicine (like antibiotic). She said it's better to let him own recover and build immune system. I'm very worry on him, at method to heal him faster?
*
Keep him warm & don't let it go outside of the house to prevent infections which can be too much for young kitten immune system to fight. Regularly clean his nose & eyes. Feed him with wet food.

I think it depends on your cat fur; like long or short. I use something similar like in the picture below but the "teeth" close together like in the 2nd picture. Pretty good in removing matted and undercoat fur on my cats with medium/long & thick fur.

Hi Guys,

My 4 year old cat fell from the 5th floor of my apartment, was in the process of moving house, my "lovely" maid left all the room doors open, and 2 windows open when she left the house after cleaning. Shes not new, been with me for 2 years, i always makes sure my house is safe for my cat before i leave.

Nearly had a nervous breakdown, circled the apartment a few times, found her laying down under a car, i was swearing constantly in my mind.

Sent her to clinic nearby; then proceeded to UPM the next day. UPM facility is very impressive, i can say the vet here are very experience in handling serious cases. They have ICU for cats, dogs and birds.

In summary my cat got; pneumothorax due to punctured lung & abdominal hernia (surgery). Clinic (xray, meds) cost me RM200+ UPM hospital (warded for 5 nights, surgery) cost me about rm 1.5k. For the procedures that they did to my cat, the price was super cheap, because at the clinic the were quoting 1k just for the surgery, i cant imagine the price if i went to Jalan Ipoh Vet Hospital.

Love you cats guys, make sure windows are closed. My cat is recovering..T_T, shes eating, walking, pooing normally now, tho i can see that shes still in pain.
If accident happens skip the clinic go to gov vet hospital in upm or kl.

I always love to read story with happy endings. I hope she get well soon.

Do we know if they are Malaysian?
*
You should come back to Malaysia more often. Yes, they are Malaysian. That guy almost a celebrity. http://www.deherbs.com.my/v1/index.php/shop-store

There's animal authority but I doubt the organization is "sophisticated" like US or other developed country. I mean for them cat is cat regardless what breed is.

I didn't watch the video but wild animal will always be wild & will not have "normal" connection with their owner like "normal" cats. The only way to have good connection if you adopt it since it still a baby.

Anyone knows where to get catnip plant?
I did some reading, and below is what the plant looks like :

[attachmentid=7055801]

There is also another species, called 'acalypha indica'. In Bahasa, it is called 'kucing galak' / 'ceka emas' .
The plant thrives in our climate, so I would be hard-pressed if it could not be found here biggrin.gif
*
You can buy catnip seeds at local pet online store. This for example:-
http://www.catsgarden.com.my/product_info....products_id/607

As for "pokok kucing galak" plant, I also heard it is easily available in our country but I also don't know how to identify the plant. sad.gif

Hi, need some advise.

I only recently started to place my cats in a cage, before this they are loose in the house without any cage. The problem is i noticed the cats always breathe heavily only when in the cage.
They breathe with close mouth and body will also move when breathing. When i let them out, they're fine.
The cage is outside of the house, at the balcony.
Is that normal tho?
*
Maybe too hot.Put them in a shaded place and see how.
*
Yeah, likely this. When free, they can find comfortable place for them to lie down whereas in the cage there's no way to go. They may also stressing out when they cannot escape from the heat.

If caging them is a must for you, they're a couple of options though. One, you can let them loose in the house during daytime but cage them at night. Two, put the cage in the house during day time, with fan turn on of course & outside at night. Option one seems better IMO especially in our climate because the fan likely just going to recycle the hot air which will not help at all.

QUOTE(holocauster @ Aug 7 2016, 01:55 PM)
Hello guys,

Can someone recommend high end wet food for cats? Two of my cats have sensitive tummy, I can only feed them wet food for them to have solid poop. I have dry food on standby but only one out of three cats can eat it. Thinking of trying Royal Canin Sensible 33 soon, since dry food is so convenient.

Currently only feeding them those canned Whiskas. I'm not sure if that's healthy or not. :|
*
My rule of thumb, as long as they have good bowel movement, then you're feeding them well. Now about the nutrient, whiskas canned food should be ok I think. The whiskas dry food that I don't recommend.

For dry food, you should look at the ingredient. If possible you should void dry food if it have maize/corn as the main source of nutrient. Other ingredient like rice, I'm ok with it. I'm more liberal than other cat's lover. My cat's fur is shiny, they are healthy, and have good bowel movement. Anyway, you should choose dry food that use chicken/fish/lamb as main source of protein.

The correct way to change the food, you should slowly introduced the new food to them. If your cat have sensitive tummy, it can be time consuming. I have been there & you should be patient. My suggestion is that, put a small amount of new food with their ordinary food. Maintain the ratio until your sensitive tummy cat get used to the new food, then you can increase the amount of new food & decrease the amount of old food. I can not really give you how long it may take but if their poop remain wet or watery after a week, you should stop feeding them the new food & return to their ordinary food right away. Although if the poop is still watery (wet is ok IMO but watery is big no no) after a couple of days, you should just stop feeding them the new food right away. Try other dry food.

*
Give them some time. They will become freindly again.

BTW, you should be able to know whether that is your cat or not based on how it react or behave around you, whether she response to the name you use to call her, whether she go to her favorite spot when resting/sleeping, etc. There always at least one unique behaviour that you can distinct her from the other cats.

May I know best and affordable kitten food available?

There's huge choices but it depends on your location (availability) & also depends on how you define affordable. The best food depends on the ingredients.

QUOTE(owenwong84 @ Aug 17 2016, 12:21 PM)
Very strange...
My sofa is a faux leather type.
If i cover the sofa with bed sheet, my cat will pee on the sofa. If i take away, she will not pee. Why like tat?

The reason why i cover with bed sheet is the leather a lot of scratch and hole. She like to play on the sofa, launch sprint run from there and scratch the sofa side. And fur drop alot also.
*
Did she already spayed or not? I only have seen this kind of behavior on non-spayed female cats especially when on heat. Cloth, plastic bag are few things that they like to pee on.
