Anyone have experience in hand rearing a kitten or kittens? The poop should not watery right?
Few weeks ago, my aunt brought back two young kittens that I guesstimate a week or two old. No mother cat. Some "nice" people leave the kittens at food court nearby. I don't know how many days goes by before my aunt found them & bringing them home but the good people at the food court did take care & feed them though. For first two weeks, the kittens progress was promising. We feed them cat replacement milk (goat milk according to the label) & try to keep as best as I can feeding them with milk every 4 hours. However, two weeks later one by one slow down & only drink little milk. Since I guesstimate their age is 4 weeks old, I tried offering them wet food & even steam chicken (cut to very small pieces). They're not interested at all. They died one by one recently. FYI, during their good progress in the first two weeks, they did have diarrhea or watery poop & the color is bright yellow. I did changed to different brand of milk but nothing change. I did go back to the ones with goat milk because the kittens seems to prefer it.

QUOTE(mt24 @ Sep 13 2015, 02:24 PM) How do u cope with hyper active cat? The one staying with me very active that play with almost every single thing on the floor. Be it a straw, or a a single thread. He even munch my carpet that force me to flip it over. He stalks me everytime when i move around in my house. He is healthy besides his digestive system problem. Just feel tired with his hyper active. Do u arrange your house furniture / decoration according to your cat liking? I just let my cat play. My cat like to play with small ball, so I put a couple small balls for her on the floor & she will chased the balls everywhere. When tired she will lie down a bit & then continue playing later. To me cat/kitten hyper active period is the best. It's entertaining. Before you know it, few weeks later when she grows older and older, she will less and less hyper active. I didn't change or move the furniture but I make sure nothing fragile or dangerous objects that she can reach since she'll play with anything.

QUOTE(Petre @ Sep 17 2015, 12:17 PM) my cat been eating strings around the house string on my bolsters, on one of my uniforms, and some string we use when tapau food (suddenly cannot recall its material) i think here are some of the reasons: 1-he is bored alone at home during days 2-he thinks he is hungry (since i recently started to ration his food to better control his diet) 3-he needs to chew on some fiber like grass what do you guys think? so sometimes i will find these string in his poop, i just worry some will be left in his intestines... That can be dangerous if the strings anchored somewhere in the body. You should removed any material that have strings. If your carpet have loose strings, probably good idea to trim it. I did caught my cats playing with strings before, even one time a string was inside my cat mouth which I caught early & took it from them immediately. Fortunately, I have not seen them swallowed one & I have never seen any strings in their poop. This was months ago. Rubber band also another thing that I watch closely (to make sure none on the floor). You should try something else that may attracts their attention from the strings or completely removed any material that produced strings.

Currently, a few of my cats have diarrhea. Unable to find probiotic at the farmacies and the cat food that contain probiotic, I bought Iams 14kg cat food that contain prebiotic. Last night I just learn that apple cider vinegar also a prebiotic, which I already added in their drinking water which does help some of the cats. Do anyone think this cat food with prebiotic is more focus than apple cider vinegar? Focus in term more affective in helping the digestive system than apple cider vinegar?

QUOTE(Mystycat @ Sep 27 2015, 11:55 PM) Hi there, I brought back a 1 month old kitten yesterday. I would like to ask that do you let kitten to roam freely inside the house or put them in a cage? I am using play pen as her cage and put a litter tray inside. Not sure if I need to put the door open during the night. Not sure if she can use the litter tray properly For new kitten that young, I put inside the cage but whenever I'm at home, I let it to roam around the house. When at night I caged the kitten back. I only do this with new kitten & this also allow it to quickly learn using the litter box. I usually let it roam freely 24/7 after a week or two, especially when it can use the litter box properly. It is quite normal for young kitten to relapse (do business outside the liter box) from time to time. Also I can restrict their movement in the living room only because there's door between the living room & the rest sections of the house. Cat-proof your house for peace of mind. QUOTE(miaopurr @ Sep 30 2015, 12:57 PM) hi. anybody knows of clinics in bangi and kajang, which can spay stray cats without making it a must for the cats to be vaccinated first? i have called a clinic in bangi, but they don't do cats which are not vaccinated. there are 2 adult stray cats which i always see around my neighbourhood. one male, one female. the female got pregnant a few times already, but i think her kittens never survived. but this time, one did survive. now there are 3 cats. i wish to spay them, to control the population. this is the right time to do it, but if i had to vaccinate them, i need to wait 1 month before i can spay them. by then, it might already be too late. so, anybody knows any clinics that accept stray cats without vaccination? Government clinic. Are you going to take care of them after surgery until they fully heal?

QUOTE(miaopurr @ Sep 30 2015, 09:08 PM) not decided yet. but will look after them till they are fully awake, that's for sure. they hang around my house everyday. That would be bad idea. The surgical wound need times to heal, minimum 2 weeks. Letting the cat running around can damage the stitches & causing the wound to open which can cause all sort of problem.

QUOTE(bettachick @ Oct 7 2015, 08:51 PM) Hi, I have a Revolution for Cats (Blue Box) 3 doses 60mg/mL. I only use a dose because little amount is needed for my pet rabbit. The product is genuine and sealed. PM me if interested. BG: Revolution is manufactured by Pfizer USA. It contains Selamectin which is able to treat both endoparasites and ectoparasites. http://www.revolution4cats.comI am looking for flea & tick drops because the regular one I regularly use does not effective anymore. I believe who makes it change the content/formula because even the smell also different & no flea died at all. A couple hundreds ringgit wasted for nothing. Now instead of some fleas, now I have a lot of fleas. Pet shop here only bring in one brand but I called them today, they have another brand. Can't really get what was the brand in the phone but I did ordered two bottles just want to try first & a spray one for the floor. I'm interested but after reading the side effect, I'm kinda worried. Also I need a lot for my cats at my mini cat village. This post has been edited by kizwan: Oct 8 2015, 02:46 PM

QUOTE(bettachick @ Oct 8 2015, 07:49 PM) Genuine product do not change the formula and concentration of the medication. The volume of the medication to be administered must be precise. It is measured according to its weight. Too much fleas drops will intoxicate your cat. If too little, not enough to clear all the fleas and it can get even worse because the ones that survived might have developed drug resistance. The medication was administered correctly. I have use Detick many times before, so it's impossible that I didn't apply the medicine correctly. It's small glass bottle, containing small amount of liquid for two cats. Not for kitten of course. This brand was pretty good & was able to protect my cats for 5 to 6 months. I'm pretty sure the last time I use it around last year, so it was lasted longer than I expected. When I want to use it last month, it didn't work like it used to. Even the smell of the liquid also different. Tomorrow I will try different brand because I no longer trust Detick. I read about the side effect at the website you provided in your original post.

QUOTE(Exeunt @ Oct 16 2015, 02:50 PM) hai guys .... is there any cat tracker seling in malaysia?? i googled one and found one result http://pawtrack.com/.. but i want a simple one like tracker using bluetooth.. btw i let my cat roam freely but they are scare to cross the road and my area is KG one.. but at night they will come home and miow at the door to let them in... the tracker is just for fun and a way to find them because only my dad can call them using his method and his voice only the cat will come home. (funny right?) ..my house land is very big, the cat sometime hide until we cannot find and tomorrow morning come home already wet or covered it mud.. thanks Bluetooth coverage only in a couple of meters. GPS tracker is what you want but it must be small enough which it won't cause the cat to get stuck when it go through obstacle like fence.

Hello Cat Lover! Since currently is haze season, thanks to our "very responsible" neighbour, I just want to remind that keep your furry friend indoor all the time, especially when the air pollution index is above 100. If your cat(s) show sign like watery eyes or coughing or drooling, bring your cat(s) to vet as soon as possible. If your cat(s) have history of health problem, you definitely don't want to delay bringing your cat(s) to vet.

QUOTE(Petre @ Oct 27 2015, 03:41 PM) i notice some redness in the skin near my boy's eye a few days back, now he ok d... phewwww he seems the be drinking a lot more water these days I just buried my cat yesterday. He got sick Monday & pass away yesterday (Thursday). The only symptom is ulcer in the mouth (both side, left & right lower jaw) which caused him refused to eat or drink. The vet suspect he was poisoned but he is full time indoor cat, have never set foot outside of the house & have no access to soap/detergent or anything that obviously dangerous. We don't have any kind of poison in the house either. The other thing that my vet suspected is sporo but there's no blister or wound that can suggest sporo & again my cat is full time indoor cat. He does have dried up wound at the back of the right ear though (which the vet saw & the reason why he suspect sporo) but it already healing & dried up. This was caused by severe itching from flea infection. The flea problem became serious because the tick & flea drops, Detick, that I used before with excellent result doesn't work anymore (the smell of the liquid also different than it used to). This is about last month. I used different brands around earlier this month which does work. My vet also doesn't think my cat intoxicated because there's a long gap between when I applied the anti-flea drops & when he got sick. The other thing my vet suspected he probably eating poisonous insect. I genuinely have no idea how he got ulcer in the first place. The environment in the house pretty much safe, no danger to the cat at all. Even though it's unlikely sporo, I decided to quarantined all of my cats in their cages in the meantime. There's a couple of my cats that have small scratch wound on their head/neck/behind ears that already dried up & healing but I don't want to take any chances. But I do 100% positive it's not sporo, just scratch wound caused by severe itching from flea infection they got before. BTW, haze last week is pretty unhealthy in Kedah state. Air pollution index was above 200. I wonder whether this contribute to the death of my cat. A couple of my cats do have watery eyes with slightly inflammation which I'm pretty sure because of the haze but this is easily taken care of by eye drops that I got from my vet. QUOTE(Seager @ Nov 4 2015, 01:13 PM) Vet said she discolated her left hind leg, and has a shattered ball joint at her hip His recommendation is to remove the ball, and due to the fact that she's an agile cat she'll be up and running back to normal after the recovery period. The only issue is that this vet is too fully booked to carry out the procedure. Do any of you guys know any 24hour vets that are capable of carrying out surgery on a walk-in basis? I called Animal Medical Centre along Jalan Tun Razak, they said they'll check and get back to me. Gasing Vet, said need to do blood test and will give appointment. Any comments guys? I'm guessing your vet did x-ray your cat? I wasn't think it can be this serious though.

QUOTE(jimnuz @ Dec 4 2015, 09:38 AM) Hi help needed, My 2yo mix breed male cat is getting very noisy at night, so I guess is time to neuter him..got few inquiry.. 1. Is there any other method than neuter him? I worry for thr risk of operation.. 2. Any good recommendation clinic nearby Ampang area? 3. Pricing? Thanks for all reply ^^ Male cat healed faster than female cat. There's always risks but all the risks are in very low percentage anyway. Don't worry. QUOTE(vandechrome @ Dec 4 2015, 10:08 AM) Update: Just called KM Vet, Bt Caves for their advice. The suitable age is 7months and the kitten need to go through the 3 vaccinations prior spaying. Male cat : rm200 Female cat : rm230 Also it is required to do blood test before spaying which cost another rm100 It is a one day procedure, drop off in the morning and fetch back in the evening. Pretty much similar at the gov clinic over here, 7 to 8 months old minimum but no need vaccination or blood test.

QUOTE(Mystycat @ Dec 6 2015, 02:39 PM) I just got my 6 months queen to spay this morning at spca ampang. The procedure is quite fast, arrived there at 9am and fill in the form, pay and leave the cat at the clinic. There were a few other house cats together waiting. I was told that we can collect back around 2pm, but since it was my first time there, I went for a stroll looking around the place and have breakfast around. I went back to check on my cat around 10.30 and found that she was done. They slipped 1 week antibiotic and a note on the carrier. She woke up on my way back and now still drowsy. One of my girls woke up little bit late. I brought her back home in the evening & she only woke up after midnight. This post has been edited by kizwan: Dec 7 2015, 01:53 PM

QUOTE(Petre @ Dec 15 2015, 03:25 PM) he sometimes show this vomit action but nothing comes out, he sleeps now, i will try to see if he gets his appetite back, also am feeding him water using a syringe since he is not in mood to eat or drink... sad and worried... Try boiled/steamed chicken or wet food (tuna or any fish). These food have strong smell, may help your cat appetite. If necessary, force feed him wet food (tuna) a little. Also feed him glucose drink for energy.

QUOTE(Petre @ Dec 16 2015, 09:04 AM) i also forced feed him water with a syringe... he is not eating and drinking i will go back to the vet soon if he is not improving My cats did get sick a couple months ago. There is vomiting too but not severe like yours. No eating & drinking. My vet pretty much said to me, I really need to get my cats eating something & drinking too. Pretty much need to assist them just like you did with your cat there. With no drinking & eating, cats pretty much lethargic. My vet suggest to feed them glucose drink 3 times a day, to restore their energy. You should ask your vet about this when you bring your cat to vet again.

QUOTE(Seager @ Dec 20 2015, 12:07 PM) It's not been a good quarter for my cat. She's fully recovered from her FHO surgery, she's able to walk fast, run a little and even jump around short heights. However, she's now down with ringworm. Noticed a red patch a couple of days back that she's been scratching near her ear, immediately put the e-collar on and used Canisep. Did this for 2 days, but whenever i remove the collar, she scratched again. Brought her to the vet and he administered some anti-fungal cream itraconazole for 20 days. He infection is still at a very early stage, since she's only got 2 spots, 1 just close to each ear. She's being her usual self, but with the collar on she tend to get a little sad. Anyone here with experience in healing a cat with ringworm? Any advise? Thanks. So far no. Ringworm is infectious right? Hopefully I don't have to deal with it because I have many cats. I hope your cat free from ringworm soon. Do cleaning the ears regularly helps prevent ringworm infection? I use Royal Breed Ear Cleaner to clean my cat ears. Petre@ I hope your cat got better now.
