QUOTE(Arsenal 14 @ Jul 1 2015, 12:29 AM) Hey, i have been using fussy cat litters as well and the effect is not that good after a week. The urine clump tends to scatter and cause high ammonia smell in the surroundings. Recently i changed to Catit Crystal and there is no odour and its amazing. You need to remove clump everyday but since you said the clump tends to breakdown & smelly then that is not good litter. |

QUOTE(Petre @ Jul 3 2015, 04:30 PM) thanks for the advice... Did the mother cat & her kittens now at your home? A couple months ago I did rescue "freshly" thrown away 4 kittens age 4 to 5 months. They pretty obvious don't know where to go & they trying to eat dried out food on a piece of old news paper which I believe put there by their previous owner. First thing they did when I brought them back home, they sit on our lap like they really grateful to have home again. There's also DMH tortoiseshell cats; a mother cat & her newly born kitten but now already 1 to 2 months old.i cant save all cats but the lot i believe were dumped by someone, since the mother cat is very clean and friendly i hope i can successfully foster them temporarily until i can find a permanent loving home for them I rarely rescue cats because fortunately over here not often I see cats in distress. Most of my cats came to my house by themselves (age around 3 to 4 months old when they came here). QUOTE(:3mushy:3 @ Jul 3 2015, 06:14 PM) I suspect my cat has feline leukemia, rapid weight loss, barely able to walk, nasal secretion and more symptoms that fit the disease. Sorry to hear that. I think better bring to vet to make sure it's FeLV.Very heartbroken and the thought of putting her to sleep came across my mind a few times |

QUOTE(splatzkill @ Jul 10 2015, 07:10 PM) anyone here using clumping cat litter? Increasing the depth of the cat litter is one of the solution but you also want deep litter box. If not the cat litter will fly everywhere since your cats are "digger" type. With this kind of cat, even if you use the best absorption cat litter, the clump will stick on the base of the litter box. You can try apply & wipe cooking oil on the base, corners & edges of the litter box. Since your cats are "digger" type, I don't know how effective this solution will be.i've recently tried using clumping cat litter from tidy cats non clumping and i have a problem with the clumping type. my 2 cats would dig until the bottom and pee before covering it up. it leaves a very ichy sticking pile at the bottom which is very difficult to scrapped up. i've read online comments about filling the litterbox deeeep so that the cats dong dig all the way down to the base before peeing. was hoping if anyone encounter this problem and if there is any way around this? Currently I'm testing Cat's Best Oko Plus clumping litter. A couple of my cats also digger type too & I found that even though some of the clump sticking on the base, you can easily scrape it off. Just FYI, the clump doesn't stick together like glue like other clumping litter. So be careful when removing the clump. Fortunately this litter have very good absorption property & the clump size is much smaller. |

QUOTE(lolokzarecool @ Jul 12 2015, 08:20 PM) Need some help here . I would move the kittens from the drain too. The drain is enclosed space right, with metal drain cover? I don't think putting the kitten back in the drain is good idea though. If you put the box in front of your house but not outside of the gate, is it close enough to the drain? This what I would do. If the mother cat come back, she would be able to find her kitten. Don't forget to put drinking water & food (kibbles) in the box. For the meantime you can get replacement milk for kitten.I just found 2 kittens in front of my house in a drain(dry) and one of them is dead.. i removed the dead kitten and thought it would be a good idea to put the other newborn who was still alive into a small box.. However , i just googled that i shouldnt touch the position of the kitten and should wait for the mother cat to come back as she is probably out hunting.. i put back the box directly on top of the drain but i think she has missed the kitten entirely.. Will she come back again to search if i put the kitten back into the drain? Help.. |

Hello,
Anyone know why kitten (age around 2 months or younger) that appear to be healthy suddenly stop drinking their mother's milk & also refuse to eat any kind of food. My vet refused to treat kittens this young because it may make things worst. Well this is a while ago, probably not the case anymore. I always wondered about this & I really appreciate it if anyone know. |

QUOTE(cute_miao @ Jul 20 2015, 01:26 PM) my cat ran out for 3 days during raya (i closed everything and locked) but this girl ran out from the window. There's high % your cat will get pregnant. If you don't want any new kitten, this is the perfect time to spay your cat.i saw her being "doggied" by other cat in front of my house. and the stray cat kept on meowing since yesterday night. and my stupid cat, replied...ish..... wonder whats the % she got pregnant (less than 1 yr old) QUOTE(Petre @ Jul 20 2015, 02:11 PM) is it possible for a cat to be depressed due to loneliness? lethargic is not good indication. Probably need to bring your cat to vet for checkup.recently my cat looks like no mood to play, lethargic... since my wife started working my cat is alone at home and we only be at home at around 8pm... 11pm sleep d less time to play with my cat... can he be lonely? i am sad seeing his face like no mood... been thinking maybe he needs a companion? can a companion cure his loneliness? i dunwan later my cat become more depressed ( i know from a few fren whose cats become depressed because of cat additions to the house, maybe they no longer feel like they are priority) i feel like maybe get him another friend like maybe a tortoise? If you want to get a companion for your cat, this is the time to get one while your cat still young. How old is your cat? I totally forgot. I think another 3 to 5 months old kitten would be perfect companion for your cat. Older cat will be a bit challenging to get them get along well. |

QUOTE(Seager @ Jul 22 2015, 12:03 PM) Just out of curiosity, how many of you carry your cats around? Not carrying my cats but I used to bring my cats for walk in the front lawn. However, some of my cats like to run towards the road & turns to game of "catch me if you can" on the road. My front lawn approximately ~17m between front of the house & the road, and they like to play on the road instead. Because of this I didn't do it anymore.Mine is okay with me carrying her and walking around the house, but she has a certain quota. If I exceed the number of times I am allowed to carry her in a day, then she runs away from me whenever I bend down and it turns into a game of catch instead lol |

Yeah, it won't work with my cats. Closing the sliding door is the best option. Cat will always find a way. If you don't want cat to go to the places you don't want them to go, you will need to completely "sealed" that places.

QUOTE(Asak8 @ Aug 12 2015, 10:12 AM) QUOTE(fnm83 @ Aug 11 2015, 04:20 PM) Hello my fellow purry friends, my cat has a 3 cm wound at his leg, probably because of fighting, and it healing process is very slow, already 2 weeks the wound still wet. why is that so? already put it under antibiotics, wound cleaning using saline, chlorohexide and iodine done everyday, gamat solution already used but seems worsen.so i stop after few days. this cat also already tested and confirm negative sporo, felv, fip and other dangerous virus. it is clean from diebetes too. any tips how to get it heal and the wound close fast? Ever try e-collar? Whatever you use, it'll take time to heal if he kept licking the wound. You doing it right IMO. Keep cleaning the wound & don't stop giving antibiotics unless doctor say. A couple of years ago my cat got a puncture wound at the back leg, the part where it folded when they sit. Mine also does take time to heal. There's drainage too that I kept cleaning but it usually dried up quickly. This post has been edited by kizwan: Aug 12 2015, 11:39 AM |

QUOTE(fnm83 @ Aug 12 2015, 04:59 PM) how long you cat took to fully cure? It's a couple years ago. I don't remember but pretty sure weeks, not days. I remember he doesn't in pain & active as always, even though I can see the hole & drainage come out from it (not all the time). I use Gamat too which I think helped.could be true. e-collar kind of expensive. i am thinking of to make a hole on the polystyrene plate and put that plate on my cat's neck. hope that will work. No idea e-collar is expensive. I have never use it before. However, I'm pretty sure it's worthwhile. BTW, how much it cost? Good luck! Hope your cat get better soon. |

The best way is to place the mother cat & her kitten at safe place. You should lock them in the house. Please consider spaying your cat after her kitten can eat dry/wet food.My cat just gave birth to 3 cute kittens a month ago but now only left 1.i hv no idea y the other 2 died. Now im so worried this last one wont survive.any tips?this is her first birth |

QUOTE(itekderp @ Aug 28 2015, 11:10 PM) My cat is very ill. Sorry to hear this. I believe the vet already tried their best. If it is vet advised to bring him home, then you should bring him home but if the vet advised your cat to stay, then you should let your cat stay there.Noticed he wasn't eating much and refusing to come in on Tuesday, then kept him indoors for Wednesday to observe. He wasn't eating anymore and puking then and drinking a lot of water. So sent to the vet on Thursday where he was hospitalized and diagnosed with acute kidney failure. Probably due to toxic substance. He's still hospitalized tonight, bringing him home tomorrow. Anyone has any experience with this? My cat is just around 4 years old, and the prognosis frankly doesn't sound very positive. Best case he has is 50/50, depending on how he reacts to the IV and force feeding. He still isn't eating, and the IV has managed to rehydrate him some but the puking hasn't stopped. Thursday he looked in a really bad way. He's still very weak and drooling a lot, probably in pain because his throat and mouth has ulcers as a side-indication. Preparing for the worst to be honest. I really want him to recover, but it's very hard to tell with kidney problems according to the vet. He might seem ok, he actually walked around a bit and meowed a lot today. But he might crash at any moment. Either way, he's probably at 20-30% at the moment. I'm bringing him home to see his friends, and be comfortable and safe in his own domain. Maybe a last goodbye, I don't know. Either way, I don't want him to suffer more than he has to. Even bringing him home is a risk, as he might crash at any time. But I do want him to be in a safe place, surrounded by his lifelong friends at least one more time. Don't really know what to do at the moment, it's hard times... QUOTE(owenwong84 @ Aug 28 2015, 11:48 PM) Past 2 days, my cat shitting & peeing on the bed, sofa and floor... What kind of detergent? It maybe the smell is too strong. I usually wash with tap & hot water only. If it's really dirty, I just use regular soap, like the shower gel, to clean it & follow with a lot of tap water. What could be the reason she did that? Unhappy? The litter box too clean got detergent smell? If you just recently change the litter to new brand or type, that's probably the reason too. One of my cats don't want to use non-clumping litter (purina brand) even though it only a couple of days old. But no problem with clumping litter. Some cats just too sensitive with smell. The other reason is it could be health related too. Other than pooping & peeing, did you noticed any changes of behavior? This post has been edited by kizwan: Aug 29 2015, 01:31 PM |

QUOTE(nujikabane @ Aug 31 2015, 12:44 AM) ^ Noted with thanks. I am planning to bring my cat for spaying. The best time is when she cool down. Approximately a week or two after her last "heat" cycle. This to allow the blood vessel in the uterus to shrink. During "heat" there's a lot of blood go through there, so there's risk involved when spaying during "heat". Also if you spayed your cat while she is in "heat", after she wakeup, she will continue in "heat" until all residue of hormone (oestrogen and progesterone) that associate to "heat" gone. After that she'll no longer go through "heat" cycle. She is now a bit crazy, especially during 'the time of the month aka mating period'. Wonder if there is anything to look out for in female cats, on when she can be ready for spaying ? |

QUOTE(Petre @ Aug 28 2015, 04:06 PM) my cat developed somekind of UTI from being overweight, the vets says Hey Petre, how is your cat? I hope he is getting better. I wasn't missed your post but suddenly today I thought about this. Did you get Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) for your cat? If you didn't yet, get one. Just add a small amount of ACV in his drinking water. Just a tea spoon or two. You just need to monitor whether he is drinking the water or avoid it. Among many of my cats, there is one cat that refused completely from drinking from water that mixed with ACV. If he avoid it, you will need to force feed it using syringe (mixed with water of course). 2 to 3 times a day should be good.so i changed to a prescribed kibble (royal canin brand) and controlled his diet he just finished it, can recommend a cat kibble thats both economical and better than those mass market brands? i dont know how much budget i should allocate my cat is a orange tabby, and some said its more common for orange tabbies to have problems with their urinary tract, is it true? QUOTE(Petre @ Sep 11 2015, 11:54 AM) hello there Kizwan, That's good to hear. thanks for your reply i have read about apple cider vinegar, in fact, i am taking it almost daily i tried last time to intro it to my cat last time, but he seems to avoid it, i think perhaps i should give him another chance he's been doing well, no longer loiter at his toilet, also i have shifted to royal canin for the time being. previously i gave him vitapet ![]() the vet said his urine sack felt stiff (suggesting probably he is feeling uncomfortable in the tract area). so now the problem is solved and i am happy from this experience, i learn to feed him at a fixed time, now his eating habit is much better. now my new problem is finding a healthy cat food for him... cheapest is RM13 per kg... any suggestions? I bought kibbles in 10KG packaging. I have many mouth to feed, so I don't use high-end brands. A couple of times I did feed them Royal Canin Persian 30. Good stuff. I also feeds my cats with wet food & boiled/steamed chicken sometime. Some of my cats eats kibbles in the morning & wet food at night. Others that don't like wet food much, eat kibbles in the morning & night. Sorry can't give any suggestion. This post has been edited by kizwan: Sep 11 2015, 03:21 PM |
