Aiyoyo...I just trade in my car to 2nd dealer and we did the owner transfer via MYEG.

and then I want to transfer the NCD from previous car to new car. Here comes the problem, sales man said" just need to call the insurance to cancel the insurance and get a letter from them."

after that went to call Etiqa (insurance company that with my sold car). And they said need me to cancel roadtax and bring the document to their office.

and then, I check back with my salesman, he said when doing ownership transfer via MYEG that time road tax auto cancel already.

and call back to Etiqa again, they check in system says my road tax still active.

So I try to call MYEG is anything can prove roadtax is cancel, myeg says ask them check system can see already.

Everyone pushing the ball!

Aiyoyo, I have to go Etiqa office to really ask them How should I cancel my insurance! damn trouble some.

Usually, if you trade in your car then you have to cancel the road tax.
If you still using the car, you can just withdraw.

I did the owner trasnfer ship with car dealer via MYEG, and in MYEG website they wrote this:

22. What will happen once the online Ownership Transfer is successful?
The current vehicle's road tax will be cancelled automatically on JPJ's records (the road tax sticker is no longer valid although it still displays a date which is still not expired).

It says auto cancel already, i still wonder should I still need to go jpj cancel road tax?

To be really certain, you should go to jpj and speak to an officer.

This new MYEG system they're using are really causing a hassle sometimes.

You need to get a document print out from the JPJ saying that your roadtax has been cancelled then proceed to Etiqa..

To share:
Sold my Savvy last year.

1) Went to JPJ with buyer. Transfer ownership and JPJ chop "Di Batalkan" on my car registration card. (New car registration card for new owner)
2) Give a copy of my cancelled car registration card to current Insurance company. Kaw-tim. They refund extra premium and transfer NCB.

The roadtax wasn't an issue...i think it was cancelled during the ownership transfer then.
(or chop on registration card considered roadtax cancelled liao)

Hi Everyone, Just personally went to Etiqa building nearby Masjid Jamik LRT, I only bring the ori insurance policy. And the officer there check on JPJ system, make sure the road tax is dead. And then chop sign, issue me the letter.

I dont know why on the phone that person of Etiqa was so troublesome to me.

So here's my experience of Canceling insurance (Etiqa): have to bring insurance policy to their office to sign & cancel. And also make sure the road tax is cancelled from jpj record.

Thx everyone!

Not sure about transferring / cancelling Etiqa insurance.. but I met with an accident the other day and did some Q&A session with their customer service over the phone..

They helped me a lot to explain procedure and also helped me when the panel workshop tried to make me pay extra for damages (meaning trying to cheat la).

Can also view status of claim / repair progress when car accident on their website. Not sure about other insurance but I think Etiqa is ok lah.

I was told by my car dealer that cancelling Etiqa car insurance is really troublesome. I did some checking online and ended up on this thread. I then contacted Etiqa via their hotline and sure enough customer service insisted that a road tax cancellation notice from JPJ is required for car insurance cancellation. I asked why Etiqa deems this necessary since everything is online and road tax is cancelled automatically upon transfer of car ownership. I was told that this is a policy to prevent fraud.

I then decided to show up at the closest Etiqa branch the next day to try my luck. Before that I had verified at http://www.jpj.gov.my/web/main-site/semaka...ikh-luput-lesen that I am no longer the owner of my old car and under the particulars of the new owner (the 2nd hand car dealer), it shows that the road tax has be cancelled at an earlier date.

When I got to the Etiqa branch, I told the officer I wanted to cancel my car insurance. All she asked from me was my car number. She then went to the same site above and verified that the road tax has been cancelled. With that info, she then proceeded to cancel my car insurance. I asked her about the need to show notice from JPJ. She said even if I did bring a printed notice, she still would have to check online.

I informed her that Etiqa's hotline has outdated information. If I had not decided to try my luck, I would have wasted a lot of time getting that JPJ notice.

So if anyone happens to be reading this because they heard about Etiqa's troublesome requirements, rest assured the info is outdated. You can check using the site linked above to confirm that the road tax has been cancelled before heading over to Etiqa.

It's already 2018 and you are still waiting for NCB paper? Just google how to check your NCB online or wait till the cows come home.

Old thread, but it seems I'm having the same problem too. Haha. Okay, was advised by SA to pay full for the new car first and after the NCD settled, transfer it to the new insurance.
