Perhaps out of ASM first immediately. Leaving the ASW2020 alone.

Perhaps add a bit more of details for the benefit of everyone here. Just my thinking only...

So many risks to undertake in the coming months ahead :-

1) risk of changing from Fixed Price into Variable Price from 01/01/2016.
2) risk of not having sufficient time to redeem before and after the date above.
3) risk of being taxable from 01/01/2017 onwards.
4) risk of the dividend being lowered, which makes the investment not worth the risks anymore.
5) risk of the RM weakening further which makes the dividend that we earn losing its purchasing power.
5) risk of other things happening due to the Gov't not having enough funds for use - one must remember that at the end of the day, this is NOT an FD.

May not be happy to take ALL the above risks anymore for a reducing dividend from 6.40%, if we are to take the latest rate given for the ASW2020 as reference.

Is there a thread dedicated to Msian Structured Investments or Msian DCIs ? Can discuss there too.

DCI is not ordinary foreign currency current account or FD.

It is a structured investment, which normally need 250K as min.

I have DCI account with PBB 50k only.. 250k is very much exaggerating

example would be forward rates contracts where msia exporters in usd hedge their receivables to mitigate currency risks.

Are the rates/charts on RM provided by XE.com indicative rates inferred from these forward contracts or are they actual spot forex rates provided by forex markets in local banks or are they provided by BNM? rclxub.gif

Actually it used to be in the 100k and above amount. But lately, bank are slashing the figure, probably in this manner, more people can participate.. so currency up down more effect too

basically futures.

rm speculators...

not difficult to google and find the bnm rules.

pretty tight. almost impossible for a soros to even try with these rules in place.

so, u can conclude why the rm is so dem weak...

Where are Ringgit futures traded? I don't think there is any ringgit futures contract.

I am also a bit confused by what you said about Soros finding it impossible to speculate on the Ringgit and yet you seem to imply that the ringgit was weak because of speculative attacks?

no. i said clearly the opposite - no speculators... where did u get the idea did i implied speculators?! rclxub.gif

hedging is strictly a biz concern, not speculating, it cost money to hedge.

i am not expert in this, just trying to help u understand the way i think i do.

do consult others if u need.

if i u find my comments of no use, pls ignore.

that being said, other investment has risks too. for every successful dreamer, there are probably 100 or 1000 who has failed badly in their foreign investments. got to think about the pro and cons

ya man... this is very bad.

rm -1.7% when other asia-pacific ones mostly lost <0.5%. korean and indon lost 0.9%.

this fall too rapid, will have severe shocks on the whole economy.

if crude continues to fall and the politics remain unchanged, will be very bad news.
