Hi, wanna ask for opinion,
is it okay to install thermal pads on the back of my r9 290?
i want to install thermal pads between the PCB and my aluminium backplate for my r9 290.. is this okay? if yes, anyone has experience with this?

My case example, I'm using EK waterblock together with EK aluminum back plate which come with thermal pad, there are 2 locations to put the thermal pad between the back of PCB and back plate, the backside of GPU core and vrm, these 2 components are generating heat of the graphic card.

oo, i think i'll only be putting thermal pads on vrm since my core is not covered by the backplate.. thanks for the input brows.gif

Edit:

hi guys, so this the back of my r9 290 tri-x http://images.hardwarecanucks.com/image//s...-SAPPHIRE-6.jpg
the place where I should put thermal pads is on the back of these vrm right? http://cdn.overclock.net/4/44/900x900px-LL...9172b_cool.jpeg

the vrm looks like those soldered parts on the back?

And do thermal pads size matters? or i can just buy a large pad and cut them using x-acto knife?
