Hi TristanX,

With the above rig specs, how long do you think i can use it until any upgrade required?
Also, would you suggest windows 7 or 8? I have completely no idea which os would be better.
*
Windows 8.You can download Classic Shell if you prefer the umm..old start menu? Can't remember.. doh.gif
Also,Windows 7 mainstream support ends on the 13th of Jan.. sweat.gif

Easily 3 years. More than that is hard to tell.

Win7 is not recommended because Microsoft is ending the support for it.

Hi sifus,

Do you know of any 1150 m-ATX mobo with red/black colour theme? MSI Z97M-Gaming abit out of my range..

My eventual build will be like

Xeon 1231v3
mATX mobo (still searching)
8GB DDR3 Avenir
Gainward GTX 970
1x OCZ vertex II SSD
2x WD Green 2TB
Seasonic 520W 80 Plus bronze (forgot the model, think its M12 II)

Will my old PSU be able to support all the parts?

Thanks!

No issue there. You might wanna find a good low profile third party cooler. Xeon is hot.

Xeon is quite hot for a stock cooler . You can add Coolermaster Hyper 212X at RM149 if you want.

If price is not an issue, go for it. You can get better spec at the same price but with sacrifice of some price.

drop price your SSD by taking 256GB and take the extra 100 spending on i7 4790 K edition

the extra 400mhz makes hella difference even without the o/c yo laugh.gif rclxms.gif

this is where it gets dodgy, Xeon has lower TDP than most Haswell i5/i7, yet runs hotter

i assume its the architecture?
