Why am I not surprised? Oh yeah, because they hang up if you don't answer within a few seconds and only call back 1 day later. And sometimes when you answer, no sound from the other end and they still hang up after a few seconds.

When your card been approved and activated the card?
I'm still keep waiting for it.. sad.gif

How long you've been waiting? Mine was like 2 weeks, and due to some problems, I found out that the delay is with the people compiling your docs (to make sure everything is in order). Once they submit over to the people who processes your application, it was like <=3 days.

haha bad bad chicken. very soon I'll be joining the wagon. Still trying to make the best out of the non-cashback cards to offset the SST. If I couldn't, I'll have to terminate eventually.

T&c says only cannot be from same campaign woh

This said, i suspect they can just decline your application with no reason. This also should be in the standard t&c

Just spent some USD online for some exam and no OTP. It went through just like that, though I received notification that money has been charged to me card. Just glad I used this (had to, for the MYR500 voucher) instead of Public Bank's.

Went through even when me billing address is wrong. I was lazy to type, thinking OTP will ultimately confirm the transaction is genuine. 誰知, it just went through. Guess there's less fraud in the US that OTP is not required.

Even in the past, I don't recall getting OTP when I spent USD for exams.

No harm trying to inform HSBC. If lucky, you get it faster. If not, back to default waiting time.

I'm also getting the 0.2% cash back. It's as good as normal points, only you don't need to accumulate them.

i got whacked 600 AF for the VSig.

Wonders if call to waive what's the chances ?
Spend every month since last year except for this year 1 month missed.
*
I think higher chance if you have at least 12x in past year. If 11, you're at their mercy. And find out if annual fee is for previous year or next year. Meaning that, if not too late to cut, then cut the card loh.

just called CS.

CS says he will process the waiver. Hopefully its gets thru. I did not register with HSBC online as got e-statement. IF it gets waived the next few days, will I see it in the HSBC online access ? and thus not needing to pay the charged AF in the e-statement date ?

Next time must remind myself to charge RM1 monthly to BP, BS or PT. Do you use any s/w or e-mail reminder to remind oneself for repetitive tasks ?
*
I use Google Calendar with a Firefix plugin to automagically check mail whenever I open Firefix. I'm sure there are other smartphone warez can set monthly reminder.

I think waive also you have to pay first. Have to reconfirm with HSBC. After that you'll have to spend away the $600.

Those IT certification from Pearson Vue. If I don't have a memory leak, they are quite lenient with cards. Probably you can't run away with a stolen card because the cert will be under your name.

QUOTE(Chobits @ Oct 15 2018, 11:18 AM)
so in this scenario, when i called to cancel the card  (minutes later after i received the SMS about the transactions), HSBC just advised to wait for the transactions to pass through, then only start the claim back process.
Is this normal procedure ?
In my opinion, it's not normal. From their SOP, it's probably normal. When you file a dispute, include this in.

QUOTE(Chobits @ Oct 15 2018, 11:18 AM)
then later on when after the transaction passed through and i called them, they said its a problem from ITUNES side and ask me to personally contact ITUNES to claim my money back because HSBC assumed it was my ITUNES account that was doing the purchases when i told them i actually have an ITUNES account linked to the credit card.
Then it's a mistake on their end isn't it? Even stronger case for you.

QUOTE(Chobits @ Oct 15 2018, 11:18 AM)
then again i called HSBC, who informed me to fill in dispute form to claim back the money.
my question is, are these procedures normal ?
and can i get back my money ?
*
Pay first and file dispute form is normal. You have a strong case, and even stronger if you have a voice recording that they instructed you to allow the transaction through.

No. You're only entitled for only 1 promo.

thanks for the replies, but now it is certainly a drag, to get the refund.
i sent the email for dispute on saturday afternoon, now after 48 hours still no reply.

additional comment:
even the HSBC operator said, ITUNES hacking is common now but never say can easily get back hacked money or not.

You are welcome.

Tip of the day : If you don't want hassles with disputes, don't save your credit card details on your phone/account. If your warez save it automagically, manually remove it.

From my experience with several banks, emails are normally slow. I did a websearch for you, you can try https://www.hsbc.com.my/content/dam/hsbc/my...ispute-form.pdf. Or you can try searching HSBC's site. Did you use this form or just a normal email?

QUOTE
NB: Kindly complete and return the dispute form via our facsimile number: 03-2179 6566 or e-mail to chargebackdisputecpd@hsbc.com.my within 3 business days from the day the cardholder/customer contact the Bank to enable the Bank to proceed with dispute resolution failing which may result in delay and/or result in you being deprived of the right to recovery of the above disputed transaction(s) amount(s) from the merchant via Chargeback processes.

You should never save credit card information, client or server, unless you are PCI compliant. PCI stands for Payment Card Industry. You can view their website here. The standard of which we are all held to when handling credit cards is the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).

i already submitted the dispute form using the one u linked as advised by the HSBC helpline.
but the disclaimer saying need to lodge the report 3 days after the incident is quite concerning since i only lodge report after 5 days, since HSBC asked me to wait for the transaction to pass through.
thanks for the tip. i will not put any CC number to ITUNES anymore i guess.
*
1. I remember I read 3 business days.

2. They told you to wait. If there is any problems as a result of this, ask them to replay the "your conversation may be recorded for training and auditing (or whatever) purposes".

3. Save or snapshot your phone logs with HSBC to prove you've already reported it instantly.

BTW, I think there's also some options to deactivate the Card-Not-Present transactions (I don't recall seeing this with HSBC, but I did not really explore it). You can do this to cards you don't use for online transactions just to avoid unnecessary problems.

You are welcome.

If you plan to use their online banking and don't already have an account, make sure you register there and get the security device. Otherwise you will have to go twice.

Follow the instructions to activate your card for the $25 cash back. Then register.

Thanks for advise. What security device?

https://www.hsbc.com.my/1/2/HUB_IDV2/IDV_EP...IB-Registration

You are going to need that if you plan to do online banking with your card. If just for normal usage then you don't need to. You can't even add a payee without that security device thingy.

If the link above does not work, go back to the main link and look see under "What is the difference between Login with Security Device and Login with passwords? Click here for quick assistance." Don't trust the Add Payer option under Password. It is not available.

First time free, replacement (if you lose or damage it) $50. Like I said, if you don't plan to pay anything with your HSBC card through their online banking, then you don't need it. Hassle it is, but you won't lose money if your phone is hacked. But if you start saving your card details on your phone and computer, the risks increase.

The 8% cashback is for transaction until 31 Dec or until further notice (forever)?

In the T&C sounds like until 31 Dec 2018 only.
*
You aware you need to spend 2k each month to qualify 8%? The grocery is for a few selected merchants only. Petrol only shell, petronas, caltex.

For visa platinum is it 12 times swipe for annual fees waive or free for life? Can't find any info on their website now. Applied at mid Valley now waiting for it
*
I remember I've read it is once a month to waive annual fee. Sometimes they do allow 12x a year, but it'll be a hassle to get the waiver (pay first, rebate later).

QUOTE(Min Hyo @ Oct 24 2018, 05:30 PM)
i just got my second card , is it i can link both card in 1 user id or need different user id to do internet checking?

I only have 1 card, but my guess is that you should be able to view multiple cards with 1 account. Check if you need to register the card first.

QUOTE(chonghe @ Oct 24 2018, 07:47 PM)
I called to cancel and the retention team mentioned this to me that HSBC is (or is about to) running a promotion of something like swipe 3 times (no minimum swipe) will entitle for SST waiver
*
It'll cost them more if you cancel and reapply in the future.

normal post. by the way top up boost e-wallet can consider spending rm 2000 criteria in order to get lazada voucher rm 500?
*
For me yes, for HSBC, you have to ask them. They don't even recognize my 2000+ spending to qualify for 8% cash back on approved petrol stations. They said the 2000 must be spent on approved grocery shops and petrol stations only, then I qualify for 8% cash back. Spend on other things not recognized.

Collect at their branch. You nominate one that's most convenient for you.
