If the 4.8% for the 12 mths FD materialises, then MBSB's 4.7% 60 mths is a goner!

QUOTE(Nostalgia @ Feb 1 2015, 12:49 AM) Is the RM60k yearly based on calendar year? i.e if I were to max out RM60k in KWSP on August 2014, can I max out RM60k in, let's say January 2015? Or do I have to wait until August 2015? I think it's based on calendar year but can always call them at 03-89226000 (Monday to Friday: 8.00 am to 6.00 pm). |

QUOTE(bbgoat @ Feb 7 2015, 10:34 AM) Yes, last year checked for 2013, did have but it is pro-rata based on the month you bank in. In one of the postings it was established that EPF will calculate the dividend from the last day of the month; so the best we can get is 6.20% if voluntary contribution is placed in Jan :-If I remember correctly, @magika (High & Mighty Magician who get free RENTAS from BR So max 60k enjoying high interest (to those that said why put in banks while EPF gave the highest rate as compared to banks 365 days less 30 days in Jan = 335 days; 335/365 X 6.75 = 6.1952 So 6.20% is much higher than existing FD rates... |

QUOTE(bbgoat @ Feb 7 2015, 11:12 AM) I understand your calculation. But I beg to differ in the sense that if one banks in for the month of Feb, from that time on you still enjoy the declared interest (pro rata). Cannot say divide the way shown. It is as if we put in the bank, the interest rate count from when you put it in. sorry. my mistake. you're right. 6.75% x1/31 for Jan only while the rest of the months at 6.75%. my bad! QUOTE(Human Nature @ Feb 8 2015, 12:39 PM) Hi, can we choose to deposit the money to account 2 only? I don't think you can do it as in m2u, it's either 1M'sia or Voluntary contribution to choose from, & from my EPF statement it's split 70-30 into A/cs 1 & 2, respectively but you can always call them at 03-89226000, Monday to Friday: 8.00 am to 6.00 pm. Do update us of the outcome. |

QUOTE(BoomChaCha @ Feb 23 2015, 12:51 PM) Ah Sir Ah Goat & Double Magic, I just called to KWSP, the operator (quite friendly) said: Yes, you're right on both counts.if submit check to self contribution account, it will take within 7 days to clear the check, and if submit cash, it will take within 3 days to "clear" the cash. Double Magic is right, we will get 1 day interest for the month that we submit payment, then next month will get full month interest. When I self-contribute by cheque, it took 7 working days (Cheque which was deposited at EPF, Jln Gasing branch counter on Sep 10 (Wed) was credited on Sep 19). However, when deposited through maybank2u, it took only 1 working day:- Oct 17 (Fri) deposit was credited on Oct 20 (Mon). Oct 30 (Thu) deposit was credited on Oct 31 (Fri). Jan 29 (Thu) deposit was credited on Jan 30 (Fri). But m2u has a RM5K daily limit! |

EPF, EPF...
RM60k self contribution looks good if you use a cheque but it takes 7 working days to "clear"... If cash payment is made over the counter, there's a RM5K daily limit but the "clearance" is the next working day; similarly for maybank2u. I wonder if the RM5K cash daily limit can be sidestepped by paying RM5K cash OTC, RM5K through cimbclicks, another RM5K through maybank2u, another RM5K through citibank... on the same day... QUOTE(nexona88 @ Feb 24 2015, 04:33 PM) why don't u try & see how. I did but only through cash & m2u, & waiting to see the statement next week or so... if works, let's everyone here know about it QUOTE(diablo2 @ Feb 24 2015, 04:52 PM) Just use Maybank2u. The transaction limit is RM5K each but there is no daily limit. Just repeat the transaction 12 times and you will have yr RM60K self contribution done on the same day, no need to go personally to EPF, no need to issue cheque and no GIRO fees either will try this. QUOTE(bbgoat @ Feb 24 2015, 07:28 PM) Instead of doing this 12 times in MBB, do it once in PBB. MBB claimed that each transaction max is 5k (when I used cheque). PBB wise no such limit. So if PBB is convenient for u, use PBB one time will do. Thanks for the tip but I've sworn that I won't open any PBB a/cs since 1988 when they bounced one of my Co's cheque which was short by RM10, and my office was just 5 doors away from that blasted branch!!! Last year I issued an MBB chq of more than RM50K for my EPF a/c and it was cleared, no question asked. Maybe the RM5K chq limit was years ago? I'll stick with m2u & have just done 7 rounds of the RM5K EPF transfers already... |

QUOTE(BoomChaCha @ Feb 25 2015, 11:02 AM) Thanks for the info... I don't think your chq will clear by 27 Feb (28 Feb being a non-banking day) as it takes, per EPF "ruling", 7 working days to credit your a/c. You'll be credited on 5 Mar, I think.I just submitted my check via counter in Jalan Gasing branch yesterday. Hopefully the check can be cleared before the end of this month. You were there at the Jln Gasing branch yesterday? I was there too but at 10.30 am to deposit cash... Did I bumped into you? Brown Camry with a lady passenger? |

QUOTE(bbgoat @ Feb 26 2015, 08:22 AM) I was referring to some forumers saying that cash to EPF in MBB has to be max 5k per transaction. So if MBB can accept 50k or 60k at one go is even better. Just to clarify the EPF self contribution thingy:-2 years ago MBB branch in Penang showed me some regulation that can only bank in max 5k per transaction. Ended I have to do 12 transaction using cheque on the single day ! So if MBB has fixed this issue, that is good. But I would not use MBB again as last year PBB transaction was pretty smooth using cheque. 1. Maybank2u sets a RM5K limit per transaction, not daily limit as I initially thought, and as rightly pointed out by diablo2, we can transact 12 times for each RM5K, on the very same day, to achieve the RM60K limit:- QUOTE(diablo2 @ Feb 24 2015, 04:52 PM) Just use Maybank2u. The transaction limit is RM5K each but there is no daily limit. Just repeat the transaction 12 times and you will have yr RM60K self contribution done on the same day, no need to go personally to EPF, no need to issue cheque and no GIRO fees either 2. MBB cheques of more then RM5K can now be made to EPF - I've done this last year.3. EPF has set a RM5K daily limit for cash deposited OTC. However the m2u RM5K x 12 times can easily override this! 4. For both cash & m2u deposits, the EPF "clearance" date is the next working/banking day. However a cheque payment to EPF will take 7 working days to "clear". 5. It has been established that the dividend for any deposit made during the month starts on the very last day of that month, provided the next/7 working days "clearance" is within that month. So after the maximum RM60K EPF self-contribution, it's now onto SSPN (or PTPTN) max dep of RM6K, mainly for the tax relief but the 4+% interest does help too... QUOTE(harmonics3 @ Feb 26 2015, 10:03 AM) Thanks for the info, could you elaborate on the procedures for the SSPN 6K deposit to get 4+% interest? Here's the link = http://www.ptptn.gov.my/web/english/savings/gen-infoBasically, as a parent, you can open a sspn a/c in your child's name and get a tax relief of RM6K till 2017. For 2013, the interest was 4.25%. Have to wait for the 2014 interest announcement, probably in Apr 2015, & hopefully it's still in the 4%+ range. more at https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1819492 cheers... |
