QUOTE(meistsh_musical @ Sep 2 2015, 08:48 PM) there a story from me at last friday 28/9 offering outside at night, at midnight my dog barking around the offering place many time, so i take a look nobody was there and it keep barking, i no bother and sleep again. While it really could have been anything that caused your dog to bark, this is, in fact, the correct thing to do.Unless you are under any sort of direct threat from spirits, just ignore them. |

The Black and White Brothers lead devotees in a prayer to the King of Ghosts.
In the background, hanging on the walls of the ritual chamber, are scrolls depicting the Ten Courts of Hell. ![]() |

QUOTE(meistsh_musical @ Sep 4 2015, 11:37 AM) This is a Datuk, a Malay earth/nature deity.Datuks play a similar role to the Chinese earth gods, but that is where the similarities end. They are quite different from Chinese earth gods in terms of origins, personality, symbolism and methods of worship. |

QUOTE(The_Thorny_Devil @ Sep 4 2015, 09:52 PM) there's one thing I would like to ask if @nachtsider you may help to enlighten me. My, lots of people here certainly are interested in Thai stuff. What's the different between sin tua medium that is in trance to compare against those trance that invoked by Thai's monk ? Especially people that has sak yant (yantra tattoo) on them. A sintua medium allows himself and only himself to enter a trance. Unlike the Thai occultists, he does not induce a trance in anyone else, especially not in individuals who are not mediums. |

Today is the birthday of Lord Zhang the Serpent-Queller, whom I have spoken about earlier in the thread.
Here is a picture of him, being channelled through a medium, receiving birthday greetings from mediums channelling the Black and White Brothers. ![]() |

QUOTE(maraippo @ Sep 5 2015, 09:29 AM) Can tell about this Datuk? Quite interesting. What is the origin and what is the differences that u mention? Datuks are Malay nature spirits and earth deities. Most of them take the form of Malay men in traditional Malay attire, and are Muslim. Halal restrictions apply when making offerings to them and entering their houses of worship. Unlike Chinese earth deities, who are typically described as being laid-back, forgiving and mellow, Datuks can be very strict with their devotees and quick to punish those who do not abide by their rules. |

QUOTE(kkk8787 @ Sep 9 2015, 07:00 AM) TS I have a question, I do not know it is real or not.. 2 years back I just came to this new place to start work. Rented a house. that time the owner just finished renovating. They asked me when I am working..I said that day Ill be working wont be coming home. But for some reason, I felt like wanted to go home to take a shower at 7pm that night. So I went home to the house. My renting of the house just started only actually. I went into the house, saw, I cant remember exactly, saw circles of candles with offerings of dolls and sweets inside the circle. All the lights were off. I was too tired, just walked pass the living room and went up to bathe. If the doctor said you had chickenpox, then yeah, you had chickenpox. That night itsself I became too too tired . Slept through whole night Next day too sick d, and suddenly chickenpox appeared. I was diagnosed as chickenpox. Im almost 30 years old already. Didnt think much about it as I thoght was just coincidence. Talked to owner, she said she asked the SIfu said that time not so MANG, as in not so peak time for the spirits to come out , should be fine. What do you think about that. Im godson of Kuan Yin This incident happened two years ago, you say? If nothing else unusual happened during those years... well, the whole occurrence doesn't mean anything at all, then. What was the owner's reason for setting up the candles, dolls and sweets, by the way? And what 'sifu' and 'spirits' was she referring to? |

QUOTE(prince_mk @ Sep 11 2015, 11:18 PM) He is the second, not the ninth; I said as much in that post of mine. Leaked? What do you mean, 'leaked'? As long as you ask nicely before you do so, and as long as you obtain approval, any deity can be photographed and the photos made public. |

QUOTE(yeeck @ Sep 12 2015, 12:05 AM) Can someone explain what's the meaning for the red ribbon with the gold knob and also the 2 colourful things with peacock feathers usually seen in Chinese altars? These are referred to as jin hua/金花 or 'Golden Flowers'.They are used to denote that an altar or ritual item has been consecrated/imbued with divine energy and is ready for use. Mediums in trance may have their costumes decorated with jin hua both as symbols that their costumes have been consecrated, and sometimes to demarcate that they and/or their spiritual patrons have been honoured by their superiors. ![]() ![]() |

QUOTE(EnergyAnalyst @ Sep 15 2015, 10:56 AM) i was once told that praying to Jade Emperor is somewhat like praying to the biggest God and applicable for very severe case, not sure if it is true though, must get Nacht to confirm The Jade Emperor rarely, if ever, makes his presence felt. Folklore consistently portrays him as a distant, aloof being, disinterested in the affairs of mortals. |
