QUOTE(nachtsider @ Aug 23 2016, 06:56 AM) With pontianaks, who were mostly young mothers who died in childbirth, the motive is jealousy and hatred. Pregnant women who are making good progress with their pregnancies and are receiving lots of love/support during their pregnancies, along with their unborn babies, represent everything that the pontianaks were never able to have. If the babies are female, the pointianaks, after killing them, may groom their souls to become pontianaks, too, out of spite and a twisted sense of motherhood. With other supernatural beings, the reason is because pregnant women are physically and spiritually vulnerable - their spiritual and physical vitality is spread thinner, over two individuals (mother and baby). Also, you get two prey items for the price of one. A baby's life force is pure and unsullied, making it a tastier feast. Ah ok, thanks for the answer!

QUOTE(mycolumn @ Aug 25 2016, 08:09 PM) Just curious, how do they look like? I believe in God, hence I believe in spirits too. First instance was a vaguely human shaped, gently luminescent form that I saw crouching in the corner of my bedroom in my first home when I woke from sleep one night. Probably no larger than a young child; I could gauge the size because I too was a young child then. I just lay there in bed and curiously observed it until I fell asleep once more. It never moved or acknowledged my presence. When I woke up, the sun was shining and the ghost was long gone. Second instance was nothing more than an indistinct but prolonged movement seen out of the corner of my eye - the hint of someone descending the staircase, also of my first home. I was walking near the staircase at the time, but not directly facing it. When I turned to directly face the staircase, there was nobody there. There were only two people at home that evening - myself and my father. I thought it was him coming down the stairs and then quickly backtracking upstairs again, until he came in through the front door from where he had been tinkering with his car. That old house and neighbourhood were interesting. I wasn't the only person to encounter ghosts there.

Also, in your opinion, is it good to be able to see ghosts at times?

QUOTE(mycolumn @ Aug 25 2016, 09:32 PM) Interesting. What makes you think why a person sometimes can see ghost and sometimes cannot? Also, in your opinion, is it good to be able to see ghosts at times? Ordinary people see ghosts only when the ghosts decide to make themselves fully visible for whatever reason (frequently to impart a message), or when their spiritual makeup resonates with that of the ghosts for whatever reason (oftentimes this occurs when one is depressed or otherwise mentally ill, or when one is physically ill). I can't fathom how being able to see them could possibly be considered a good thing.

QUOTE(sales.convenience @ Aug 25 2016, 07:33 PM) Thank you, Sales, for bringing this momentous celebration to the forefront. The Serpent Queller is a major player in the Chinese folk religion hierarchy, much respected by his fellow Heavenly gods and by the Hell beings, too. Here is a picture of Tua Li Ya Pek bidding him a happy birthday.
