Persona IMO is a very under-rated car.

Firstly it might because of its early batches when it first launched which has several problems. People starting to loose hope on proton.

I myself looked down on a persona. Proton is to be blamed. they F up the whole product branding, marketing.

Until I owned one, persona SV. I had done lots of research finally I dare enough to put my money in. Reading thru forums, tracing years back. In which it is quite a reliable car actually, despite the bad image form the brand "Proton".

Despite its odd look, plasticky and inferior interior. It perform on the road quite well. You would be amazed by the ride and handling, but might be disappointed by its sluggish Campro. And actually campro is quite a reliable engine if you have asked the owners. Old school 4AT gearbox, which doesnt give you any problems. (Mixed feelings here).

You would have noticed the significance of ride and handling if you drive on roads with lots of corners and bents. A stock persona SV gives you a pretty nice ride on those corners, with very less body roll, accurate steering feedback to deal with corners.

This is very obvious if you have driven a toyota vios before. Try driving it on corners and bents, you would have motion sickness after the ride. Compared to persona, driving a vios is like driving a sampan if the road has lots of corners.

to be continued...

That, and there's also the fact that we have people who a) had an actual bad experience with their car which was either due to a manufacturing defect or quality control or poor maintenance and b) people who don't actually own a plotong but say that it's the worst in everything except the air-cond etc cause their auntie said so, and c) people who have/had an old plotong but keep repeatedly complaining about problems which may have already been solved in the new generation of vehicles.

To be honest though, I'm not sure about the body roll cause I personally feel that mine leans a bit too much during cornering. Then again replacement parts that I got for my Persona are mostly by OE manufacturers, like the shock absorbers which are made by Kayaba, plus there's also the fact that I got my Persona second hand and didn't actually replace all of the suspension wear and tear parts. Oh, and I also have not actually driven a new Persona before, so I don't know what should I really be expecting.

I think for persona sv they included this front anti-roll bar. Im not sure about yours.

I think all Personas come with a front and rear anti-roll bar by default. I've got a front strut bar, rear strut and larger rear anti roll bar as well.
*
Maybe the suspension set up is not up to par for yours.

If you have driven a vios before, you could easily recognize the difference in the ride and handling and body roll. Persona deals with corners likeaboss.

Well, I do actually agree that the Persona can handle corners pretty well. Whilst I don't like the amount of roll my Persona has, it sticks onto the road at most of the corners I've thrown it at so far, and this is just with the shitty Kumho KH17 tyres.
*
Im not sure why u r experiencing more body roll on yours lol. You might need a lotus engineer to re-calibrate the ride and handling again.

I think you mean front strut bar. All Personas come with front anti-roll bar, but only those that came after SV was launched came with stock front strut bars.
Refer to my reply above.

I did a search online for steering wheel covers, almost all fit for the dimension of 36-38cm, which the one i bought last time it's also the same measurement, which it doesn't fit for persona's steering. Any suggestions on what type of steering wheel cover should I buy?

Tried once with my Plotong Shawie, was nice initially. After 2 years the sides started to peel and become very sticky. I recon should rewrap it, but become very lazy. In the end, change steering yawn.gif Now, changing car liao

The original steering wheel for persona is slippery, kinda irritating when your hands are dry.

Well accident because the other car dont stop at red light while i was green. sad.gif
Shit do happen though but we both drivers were not injured, that most important. Claim the other car insurance.

Next time even if green u have to see carefully first only u exit the junction.

I recently switched to Yokohama Advan DBs 195/60 and have done about 200km or less on them. At speeds below 60KM/H on smooth/good condition roads it isn't much quieter than my last tyres, but the tyre noise remains just as low even over 140KM/H. The harshness of driving over rough roads is also dampened quite significantly by the Advan DBs.

As for the shop I bought it from, unfortunately it wasn't as I was expecting it to be. I feel kinda disappointed cause I was expecting more based on the reviews that were given by many of its customers. I had the balancing (off and on car) of the front* tyres re-done at my favourite shop at Old Klang Road (Kee Hin) for lower than what that shop wanted. It was as if I was buying all four tyres from Kee Hin. *Luckily there is still a saving grace for the shop, i.e. the people running the business are very friendly and sociable. I'd probably still return to buy tyres from them if I am buying anything other than Michelins, but I'd probably skip the alignment process and bring it elsewhere since it isn't provided for free, and since I've already got a tyre shop I can trust to do the alignment to my liking.

P/S: Would be using Michelin PS3s if not for the fact that 195/55R15 tyres doesn't look nice at all on Personas that haven't been lowered.

Next tyres upgrade would probably be after I change to 16" rims, or maybe 195/55R15 tyres if I lower my car.

*Edit

How much is the AdvanDB per tyre?

My toyo Neo 3 is quiet too. And it feels soft, rough roads were easy, with the dampened feel as you mentioned. Handling was good. Previously my stock tyres were nct5, so much difference compare to toyo.

260 per piece, not including GST. Free balancing only.

My Persona's first tyres (which I assume came with the car when it was new) was the Continental CC-1. When I got the car the tyres was over 60% worn, more than 4 years old (6 years old by the time they finally got replaced). It wasn't good of course, but looking back at how I used to drive the car when I first got it, it's actually better than the Kumho Solus KH17s I recently dumped for the Advan DBs.

The Kumhos only have 17,000KM or so of wear, are only about 3 years old, but the wet grip is just terrible now. I've had quite a fair amount of "fun" with the Kumhos with all the tyre locks when braking, tyre slip from accelerating from a standstill to get out of a junction quickly and all when they were less worn in the rain. It's too much to bear now though with the last two incidents where I lost front grip for both occasions and nearly crashed into the wall of a tunnel, and the latest one which I nearly clipped the front of a Golf on the left lane after the tyres decided that it'd be funny to let go midway.
*
The kumhos has only 17k mileage and already performed so badly? It's so dangerous. Maybe the runner hardened already? Next time better buy Japanese brands, more reliable lol. Japanese mentality and working attitude thus good tyres haha.

My Cibaistone M5 also very gooding. On dry, go konar at 60kph got squeeling sound like run over a tupai lidat. On wet hor, wah! Feel so good, like gliding forward no need petrol also the car can move lidat. Best part is, its 2012 tayar still got 99% thread. Ayam thinking hor, these tayar probably will outlast mai kar rclxms.gif
*
Lol, cibaistone! I think every 2 years or 30-40k mileage better change the tyres. Even though threads not worn, the rubber has already degraded.
