But the question is, do you really need a 60" tv??? Maybe a 32" is enough to see the difference.... thats why they have 1080p in the current 32" models...

Bigger numbers play a big role in marketing. 1080 sounds a lot bigger than 720. Some people are sold on the numbers alone even if they can't really notice a difference. Well they will "see" the difference, but it's mostly a placebo effect. Much like those new bose speakers "sound awesome". LOL.

Unfortunately, the whole console wars has gone the hardcore HDTV way.....everyone's touting their HDTV numbers, 1080i lah, 1080p lah.......

In the end, everyone forgets that at the end of the day, GAMES are what make consoles good, not technical specs. Case in point, NDS vs PSP..... smile.gif

Frankly I don't give a damn about 1080p at all. I know that I can ill afford a HDTV to begin with, so all this tech talk is really boring me. I need to see some games ASAP, instead of just talk on numbers.

a review of 1080p vs 1080i vs 720p was done quite some times before. in conclusion tv smaller than 50" (IIRC) have no difference between 720p and 1080p/i.

often, ignorant consumers fall for that. Limited Double Blu-ray Disk Collector's Collection for 90min Disney cartoons !!

CEs will always be CEs (console makers included) ... when XBox 360 is without 1080p .. Sony claim they do HD at 1080p. When XBox 360 announced 1080p, Sony immediately say "yeah they do 1080p but not natively". Then MS said that XBox 360 will do 1080p natively.. What else will they come out with. Their spin doctors are already playing Toshiba HD DVD player's 1080p60 vs Blu-ray's 1080p24. It wont stop ... consumers just need to realise that it wont stop when it comes to technological advancement. They should just get what they need. Unless they have Bill Gate and Li Ka Shin as their sugar daddies!! .. (Uncle Bill according to the latest world richest people list is at No. 1. Uncle Li is at No. 10)
