*

the EP430 you're using is good (not great) and already min price (RM100+ only) .
so far no problem for my stock voltage overclock 295 x 9 daily use as long as your casing doesn't comes with multiple drives and fancy fans and lightnings .

Added on August 15, 2007, 3:56 ambtw i want to ask some1 know this.. a amd proc with "NOT FOR SALE" print on their face
*

my 3000+ was E6 too (sold to a close friend)
ADA3000DAA4BW
NBBWE 0613BAD

try add a little 0.1V for RAM and lower your HTT multiplier to 3X (over 250FSB)
lock CPU multiplier to 9X , disable the Cool 'n Quite
use the lowest possible FSB:RAM divider (100MHz / DDR200) and push slowly

NOT FOR SALE means not for sale whistling.gif

my X2 3800+ oced to 2.45Ghz stable with HT multiplier 3 and Cpu multiplier 10 (vcore= 1.36V and Vdimm=auto). then i tried to increse Ht multiplier to 4 and its only stable at 2.4Ghz (Vcore=1.38, Vdimm=auto). seems the temp increase abit while idle form 38'c to 40'c. is this normal?? seems higher speed lower Htt multiplier give cooler temp...
*

don't think HTT speed will affect temeprature , normally speed and voltage will do so .

Hi guys, wonder why my bios setting is showing different reading in my cpuz, this happen after i reflash my bios. my bios setting is 2.6g but cpuz show 2.5g only. In bios 260X10 but cpuz show 250X10, anything wrong with my bios. In fact, i reflash again still the same, weird never happen before.
*

how about the speed when POST ?
disable full screen logo and use PAUSE|BREAK key to halt the screen .

In fact i have diable the full screen logo, but what has full screen logo have to do with the setting of the speed or fsb.
*

what i tried to mean is check the speed when POST ( after disable logo then only can see current speed , and you already did that blush.gif )
press PAUSE|BREAK to halt the POST screen so you can read properly ( POST usually run very fast )

raise timing not lower it .
CAS/TCL - TRCD - TRP - TRAS
this one you have to read more from DDR2 discussion thread .

Hey guys, can u help me increase speed of my CPU? (AMD Sempron 2800+)
my mobo is EPoX 8NPA SLI Socket 754 PCIe SLI
http://www.epox.com/USA/product.asp?ID=EP-8NPASLI
i'm quite new to OC world, but from what i've read about my Sempron 2800+,the multiplier is locked.. but what about the HTT,voltage frequency, etc, can i modify it to get better speed??
P/S: default bus clock 200Mhz, default voltage 1.5V
Additional Comment:
now i've tried increase the 200mhz to 250mhz, volate 1.5V to 1.8V..
i check the processor speed increased from 1.6ghz to 2ghz...
is it safe to go up more?
also, could i mess with the 100mhz pcie speed upwards? does it make any difference with my 7300GT speed?
any tips,guys?
*

sempron 2800+ 1600MHz with 8X multiplier
to get 2500MHz you need to lower the FSB:DRAM divider and HTT multiplier because it will go above 300MHz
since it's a s754 + nF4 why not play with the memory controller brows.gif
well , you did OC but do you know how much was it improved ?
use benchmark software like SUPERPI , 3DMARKs , etc .
know your stock speed performance , set a target , push up to your target , check stability , fine tune , stability , fine tune , stability . then have FUN !

anyway...i tried to OC with my system....my 2 rams got burned....how sad....

AM2 didn't impress me much ( s939 FTW !!!11 )
you mean got burn mark but still use-able or died ?
wonder what vdimm you use hmm.gif
should be safe as long as below 3.0V ( any higher might need active cooling )

found this info through the net..and i have sum questions.. sweat.gif
1. Memory frequency selection = Auto, 100, 133, 166, 200 MHz (you actually specify a multiplier to the HTT frequency)
is this the HT multiplier? wats the best setting?hmm.gif  hmm.gif
2. HT bus setup = frequency (Auto, 200 MHz)
which is better for overclocking? auto or 200MHz?
can anyone care to explain.. icon_question.gif  notworthy.gif
*

1. it's called FSB:DRAM divider
2. lower it to 3X a.k.a. 600MHz is enough

Well, i was planning to overclock my CPU but i dont know what voltage is suitable for the original AMD Heatsink. since i dont have enough budget to purchase a good cooler, what 's the maximum voltage that i can set to maintain the temperature with my current heatsink?
i'm using AMD Opteron 146 2.0Ghz and i've overclocked it with Overclock AI 30% to 2.6Ghz with default Voltage 1.44V
and i also wanted to overclock my memory. i'm currently using Corsair XMS PC3200 C2PT 512X2.
my board max voltage for processor is 1.450 and the max frequency is 400. i'm currently at 2.60. i've tried to set up to 300 but it crash. then i set to 290, the temp raised to 57.
is there any way that i can raised it to 300X10?
*

try with stock voltage ( maybe +0.05 ) push until unstable .
my original heatsink ( after lapped ) can keep around 55C load temperature close casing using 1.5V .
default Vcore should be around 1.35-1.4V for most s939 processors .
try to use manual BIOS setting not Overclock AI as you'll learn more especially the memory controller part .
ok , set everything to default and go download a small program called A64TWEAKER
write down these following value ( http://techreport.com/articles.x/9328/3 )
MEMCLOCK MODE limit
MEMCLOCK VALUE 166 or 133 if unstable
CL 2.5
TRAS 7 or 8 if unstable
TRP 3
TRCD 3
TRRD refer tweaker usually 2
TRC refer tweaker usually 10 or 11
TRFC refer tweaker usually higher than TRC by 2 , 3 or 4
TRWT refer tweaker

what can i do with my old man rig and how? spec :-
AMD64 2800+   socket 754
1.5GB DDR400 ram
Asus K8N4-E mobo
Gigabyte 512mb DDR2 8500GT
400Watt true power enlight power supply.
cause i upgrade my gc last few months back and still only manage to put low setting for Fifa 08. sien . waste of my money.Old man is old man cant help. hehe
*

to be honest , i don't expect high detail from a 8500GT , try lower the graphic detail .

Guys, i have a problem here.
my system:
Processor - AMD Opteron 146
M/Board - ASUS A8R-MVP ATI Express 200 Crossfire
RAM - Corsair XMS PC3200 C2PT 512X2
at 1st, i overclocked it straight to 3.0Ghz with 1.400V but it crashed. then i try step by step from 2.0>2,6>2,7>2,8 and lastly to 2.9 Ghz with the highest Voltage which available with my board that is 1.450 but the temperature raised to 57 degree. well, is it enough for 1.450 V to boost up to 4.0Ghz???
*

according to google , your mobo support up to 1.55 for Vcore and 3.2 for Vdimm thumbup.gif .
haha , K8 will never do 4.0GHz easily . some even struggle to reach over 3.0GHz .

250 x 9 only for Venice ? push moar ! 300 x 9 with minor voltage increment rclxms.gif
yes reduce FSB:RAM ratio to lower value like DDR333 or DDR266 (similar to DDR2)
if want more fun play with memory , that's the BEST part of DFI drool.gif drool.gif

Hey, I face a problem when I OC through Bios is that I can only change my Vcore max to 1.25V, is there any idea to change it higher? I'm using Asus M2N-E SLI, AMD 64 x2 4000+, Thanks.
*

not using M2N-E but this issue was discussed before in the AM2 thread.
as i remember, use manual overclock will unlock higher Vcore.

your RAM already running DDR480 and 2-2-2-5, not fast enough ? whistling.gif
try lower down the RAM first and push CPU more (add little voltage, watch temperature)
if CPU can reach 2.6GHz, 288 x 9
use divider 166 5/6 and you still get back DDR480 with 2-2-2-5.

Cool! I'm building a multimedia PC and acquired a cheap Athlon 64 3000+ 1.8Ghz Winchester.....
So, in order to reduce power usage, I decided to undervolt it..... incredibly, it is running at full speed at 1.8Ghz at 1.10v instead of the stock 1.35v!!!  rclxms.gif (or is it 1.45v.... can't remember)
CPUz is showing 1.088v...... now stressing it to see whether it is stable.....
At idle, I've set it to run at 1.0Ghz at 1.0v...... hmmm.... should I set it to 0.800v....  hmm.gif

*

stock Vcore is 1.35~1.4V
but bro, 1000MHz machine enough use for you?
i rather stick to 200x9 at 1.1V or 200x8 sleep.gif

with unlocked CPU, i'll keep 200 and push up the multiplier first until the limit (either stock voltage or bump a bit, depend on your own preference)
then only i'll play around the HTT value
ADD: remember to disable Cool & Quiet in BIOS

your not stable is BSOD or the screen just freeze up ?
perhaps the CPU need more time to handle that speed.
not to say "Oh i just bought this Black Edition and got ZOMFG 3.XXGHz straight out of box " is happening everyday.

with prefered Vcore and limit RAM on DDR400(leave it CL5 don't play yet)
find the highest STABLE multiplier (avoid **.5x)
then slowly up by 205, 210, 215MHz(for example) with same multi.
check stability & monitor temperature everytime.
open task manager make sure both core are on 100% usage, if lazy pls at least run 2 instances of SUPERPI 8M only takes about 5 minutes.
you're suppose to reach the limit of CPU speed at the moment.

to test your mobo limit: run on low CPU multiplier (8x/7x/6x) with lowest divider and keep pushing the HTT value. check stability.
if you can get 300, congrats you got a good mobo.
over 350 are great one !
knowing mobo limit is also important when matching DRAM speed since your CPU can do up & down magic.

bus speed (original is 200, can plus/minus by 1MHz) adjust in BIOS

simplified memory divider formula (need calculator)
when bus speed is running stock 200MHz
DDR400 = bus speed x 1/1 (x2 again to make it into DDR speed)
DDR533 = bus speed x 4/3 (x2 again to make it into DDR speed)
DDR667 = bus speed x 5/3 (x2 again to make it into DDR speed)
DDR800 = bus speed x 2/1 (x2 again to make it into DDR speed)
how use above formula?
CPU speed divide multiplier (10x foryour case) then multiply the BOLD value according to which divider you set.
example: CPU overclock to 2.4GHz (240x10) RAM use DDR400 divider
2400/10 x 1/1 = 240 / DDR480
if use DDR533 divider
2400/10 x 4/3 = 320 / DDR640

why do you need to limit the RAM speed is because when you increase bus speed, RAM speed also increase. so when RAM speed over limit, OC will not stable.
for Giga mobo, everytime after enter the "blue colour screen" there press CTRL + F1 to unlock full menu brows.gif
