Yes and no. I think AA algorithm "side by side" is follow L-R, Front-Back order for any available seat. So if someone else checked in and chose aisle seat AA can separate you and waifu one even if same itinerary.

you can check in online 2 weeks before flight and you will get the seat number straight away, and save RM10 per person

Haha. Like I said in my previous post. Walk up to the counter together. Just be very friendly to her/him. Smile. Ask them how's your day? Busy today? Flight going to be full or not? Then very politely ask "If it's possible, can I please be seated next to my wife?".

Most of the time can. Unless you're flying a super full flight. And always remember. BE EARLY! Trust me, a lot of people would stinge on a few bucks. So be there early, secure a seat together with ya missus.

My fren also kena. She paid for the window seat somemore. Ask stewardess for help, nothing happened.

Just tell them you paid for the seat, and if they don't pay you back the amount you paid for the seat, they can go fly kite.
