In my experience
About 80% will be sit together. Other 20% of the time, either same row but got aisle in between, or within same area and apart by 1 row or 1 seat etc. If that happens then only pay rm3 or whatever to change one seat.

Buy the tickets together in one transaction. GO EARLY TO THE COUNTER. DON'T TAK APE ATTITUDE. Be friendly to the girl/guy checking you in. Ask if it's possible that both of you be seated together. Try to mention "my wife" in that sentence as well. Usually can.
