why so serious. razer, corsair, cm, heck even armageddon and tesoro also selling mechanical keyboard, just that they are using cloned switch with inferior and questionable quality. and the pick on them using non-standard layout can't really comment anything la, since they are going for "gaming-optimized" layout doh.gif , trying to cramp as many keys onto the keyboard. bling2 is just a add-on for zhuangbility, ducky orion lightsaver gon also include bling2 as their selling point to attract higher sales.

welcome all mechanical keyboard users but teach them about differentiating between the good quality ones and bad ones. why the separation into bling2/gaming vs typist keyboard? both are still mechanical keyboard?

Kailh is not the only one manufacturing replica switches. Gateron for one is making replica LINEAR switches with similar if not superior quality
*
Cherry MX is the pioneer, whatever using the same technology is duplication. tongue.gif
ALL HAIL Gateron and Kailh.

Spotted a dumbass.

As i said i prefer the chroma compared to k70. As for ducky shine 4. Just dont like it. The lights are all off on the two cause i know where all the key is. Just got it as this 5 were stated the best for gaming n ppl said i should try the different key switches.

For me this is a start on mkb. Not a priority n nvr said was a enthusiast.

If i think this is not enough n my world is incomplete without custom.. Then will try.

Also come on ...nobody here is competitive gamer. So y compare.  If competitive idol purchase is ure way of living..
So dude what car ure driving dude for example.
Btw lets not now start compare epeening. No idea who you are n where i am at i dont care.

I came into thread asking for advice. Got it. Overall response its a feel thingy. So going to test whatever i want in the next month.

LOL, calm down guys. I don't know why you guys are fighting? Have a bad history of one another or something?

It is pretty common to have start using "Gaming" MKBs to begin the journey.
I myself did try some of them too. And, peripherals are more to USER PREFERENCES. Person A can like Corsair, Person B can hate Corsair.

I think dadudeneverabides doesn't like the fact that you listed Ducky as the least of your liking. I can be wrong. smile.gif
Because generally, without a doubt, Ducky is superior than Razer. Tested and confirmed by a lot of MKB enthusiasts.

By the way, hate CM Storm?
Their latest products are super epic. CM Storm Quickfire Rapid-i(white LED) and CM Storm Novatouch(It's using Topre Switches, BEST in the world...) are the BEST CM Storm offers currently, IMO.
They're using standard layout, solid build quality!

Ducky had some delay issue on my m6e n r5g bios.
First boot it boots after the bios key window time.
Sometimes it works. Tested also the n key roll over. Common issue when u have intel raid enable n full imch check n extended ram boot on alot of kb.
Thats my first test on any kb. Ditched it after that.

Cm .. Coolermaster as a brand. Disappointed me a few times.

Anyway will try out their topre.
*
Ducky should have better typing experiences compared to Razer. But, since it's problematic with your MOBO, ditching it is pretty logic.

And, why you plug in so many KBs at once? LOL.
I am plugging in 2 now, but, I only use one at a time.

A brand start using standard layout, they'll shine! smile.gif
CM Storm Novatouch is using Topre Switches with Cherry MX Stem, means it's a Topre Switch which is compatible with Cherry MX Keycaps(means universal support).
Unlike standard Topre Switches, they're using Topre Stem, thus, only compatible with Topre Keycaps.

Topre Keyboards(Like Realforce brand) are made in Japan, the quality is superb and the price too is sky high. LOL. Though, they don't have good design. doh.gif
USD 200+ for one keyboard, having adding tax, oversea courier, and stuffs yet. smile.gif

Wat toking you.

Topre is not Realforce. Realforce is a brand. We don't call any topre switch keyboards a realforce when there's hhkb, type heaven and others.

Also, what good design you want?

Yea, I know.
But, they're using Topre Switches. I should change my English, I have a very bad English command. tongue.gif

The design of RF actually is much better than lots of keyboards.
I actually like the curve and the simplicity of the case like other who owned RF.
RF case is the best case i encountered in most Topre I come across (HHKB, Novatouch, RF).

Other RF users also give their opinion on the design in RF last time.
*
Yea, I know the quality is unparalleled... I just don't like the design of the frame/case.
Too much ROUNDED EDGES, IMO. Taste for design is subjective, some users will find it very pretty.

Didnt really read up o. That. So topre just one kind of switch??
Will do it after cny. Leaving early after collecting all the ang pow dough tommorow.

But dreading during cny cannot get any internet cause maxis tower will be congested.
Cannot use my shield tablet...eh just realize  what i can use tenkeyless kb for now.
*
Yes, Topre is one kind of switch only. Deal with it. tongue.gif
And, it's mechanism is quite different compared to Cherry MX counter parts.
If not wrong, it's LINEAR like RED or BLACK but has better or smoother bounce back, and you'll need to press each key deep enough for it to register(but, it won't matter much if you're a MX Black user originally). You can say it's a REFINED version of Cherry MX Red or Black.

Cherry MX switches usually categorized into Tactile and Linear.
Cherry MX Blue, Brown, Grey, White/Clear, Green, etc for TACTILE.
Cherry MX Black, Red, Yellow, etc for LINEAR.

O-Rings is to reduce the noise. Go for it! thumbup.gif
Mix it with MX Brown, you'll most likely achieve Tactile Effect but Noiseless*. smile.gif

Garage Sales and many MKB members here are selling them too. And, if you think Brown is noisy, you'll think BLUE is someone scream at your ears. LOL.

K70 RGB has very nice software and very good build quality.
Sadly, it's not using STANDARD Layout, that means lesser "Keycap Sets" supports because usually MOST KEYCAP SETS are only compatible with Standard Layout. And, it probably won't look nice with Non-LED enabled Keycaps due to the Switches can be seen at the bottom of the keyboard.
So, I'll suggest you to get those LED enabled Keycaps.

Where do you read about Topre is like refined version of MX Red and Black?
*
http://deskthority.net/wiki/Topre_switch
In essence, the Topre switch feels first like a refined rubber dome and second in some ways reminiscent of some mechanical-contact switches such as the Cherry MX Red and Alps SKCM Cream Damped.
The switch action is very smooth, with a tactile bump that you can feel near the top of the stroke. After the bump, the resistance is almost flat, making it difficult to avoid bottoming out. You can not feel the mid-stroke actuation point. It bottoms out distinctly with a "thock" sound.
Some Topre keys are very light, which can lead to unintended key activations; this happens especially on keyboards that have differently weighted switches for different fingers.

In short, it's like Linear(like MX Red which is linear too) with slight Tactile near end of each finishing press.

i've tried topre and cherry's linear before. i wouldn't say that topre and cherry red are similar sweat.gif
i really don't know why they compare it with cherry red, perhaps their way of comparing is different.

the closest cherry mx switch i can compare to a topre is cherry mx clear, which is similar to mx brown but with a more pronounce tactile bump.
but for mx clear, you'll feel the bump like midway of pressing it, and the key actuates at that point.
for topre, the bump is right at the start, and after the bump, u will bottom out and then it actuates.
*
One thing you guys should take notice over here is what you guys always said FEELING.
Feeling is vary among everyone.
But as long as it's logical, it's considered OK.
It's OK to tell Cherry MX Brown is Cherry MX Blue minus the clicky. In technical term, it might not be really accurate to put up this statement. But, in real-life testing, it's more or less that way... Tactile.
Unless, you tell like Cherry MX Blue is the same feel as Cherry MX Red, then, it's WRONG. Because one is full linear and another is obvious tactile. It's like driving a LORRY vs Luxury Car.

I think I should come out and say something about this as a user that tried all the Topre variants (30g, 45g, 55g) and most reputable Topre keyboards.
Topre is TACTILE! and heavy tactile

It's bullshit if someone tells you it's near to Brown or Red or refined Red, refined Brown, and refined what so ever MX Cherry.
It's actually similar to MX Clear of which has clear actuation bump.
*

Actually, when you said it's heavy tactile, I quite like it and pretty glad when you said it's a HEAVY TACTILE switch. Because I like tactile. LOL.

so choose wisely  whistling.gif

If LED did die, can RMA or just void the warranty and fix it yourself. tongue.gif
Anyway, I don't know if CM Storm Rapid-i has LED issue or not, my friend is using one and it's perfectly fine.

I would recommend Filco too for this case. Much more modding advantages.

Ya, CM Storm QFR-i also has LED fail prematurely issue. Several forummers (rapid-i users) reported this issue not long ago.
Guess it's pretty normal for LED keyboard including Ducky, Corsair etc.

Still highest LED failure rate champion still is Corsair K70 series. Shame on them.  vmad.gif
*
Yea, my friend Ducky Shine 3 has LED failure after days of purchase. But, mine works fine(no LED failure) even for months, then, I sold it off.
After that, I got myself a Razer B. U. Chroma, and it's epic Haihzzz switches... DOUBLE TAPPING issue everywhere. So, RMA it and sold it off again.
Then, get Ducky Shine 4, it's still working until now, no LED died yet. LOL. Hope it won't die now after I say this.
Weeks ago, got myself a Filco Majestouch 2 TKL Camo, quite happy with it. smile.gif

why u no trust me in the first place? even the deskthority article you quoted also stated that it has a tactile bump (highlighted in red). and you further add on that MX red is full linear whereas the article you quoted stated that topre is tactile, so comparing the tactile topre vs the full linear mx red IS like comparing driving a lorry vs luxury car.

when normal people like me laying it down for you simple and clear you no feel glad.  doh.gif  doh.gif why you feel glad that topre is heavy tactile only after quovadis123 stated it?
which shop did you get it from? that's quick for any retail shop to give a hassle free one-to-one replacements. few months ago when the k70 was plague with dead LED issues, most buyers need at least 2weeks of "inspection" to get a replacement.  cry.gif  cry.gif

Source, http://deskthority.net/wiki/Topre_switch

And, I concluded it as "In short, it's like Linear(like MX Red which is linear too) with slight Tactile near end of each finishing press.". At least, on my understanding... quovadis123 thinks it's wrong, so, he corrected me with his experiences.

And, quovadis123 said it's heavy tactile. So, I am glad if it really is heavy tactile because I would like to try it out if possible and I don't like linear.
If Topre is pure linear, I'll stay away from it.

Here,
It's OK to tell Cherry MX Brown is Cherry MX Blue minus the clicky. In technical term, it might not be really accurate to put up this statement. But, in real-life testing, it's more or less that way... Tactile. Both Brown and Blue is TACTILE, am I wrong? YES I AM!!

You asked me where I READ these INFOs... and I showed you. http://deskthority.net/wiki/Topre_switch
I do a lot of postings in this thread and NOT ONLY ONE, so, I suggest you to fully read what I said and replied. I gained experiences from what I read.
So, each posts I do I'll fix whatever I told wrongly in the past.

And, what's wrong with U-Turn? It's not actually a U-Turn here. It's like a teacher corrects you, so, you don't do the mistake again. Eg, you corrected me, so, I know and won't repeat the mistake.
So, for 1st time, it's wrong. 2nd time, it'll be correct.
If I did wrong, and I continue to tell everything wrongly... is that good?

Just because I am new in MKB doesn't mean I don't know what you guys are talking about... where do you think or how do you think I got my Elite tag?

glad that you spent the effort to read up and learn. we are trying to share what we have feel with our fingers and educate with our experience: in this situation, telling you that topre is tactile and comparing it to a fully linear switch is doh.gif, no idea how DT came up with that comparison (with cherry mx red) but the second switch that they mentioned is actually a dampened tactile switch which is somewhat a close description of the topre switch. being an enthusiast is open to suggestion and sharing with others, it's not just about being an Elite or how many stars you have, there are many submariners which have dabbled in MKB far longer with probably only 4 or 5 stars.

Bro, you can't earn Elite with tons of posts and stars, FYI.

Anyway, I just post what I've read, if you don't like it or think it's wrong, then I can't stop you from thinking it.
And, I did provide the link/source...
Like I said before they mentioned it as Linear with Tactile Bump at the end of each stroke.
So, I just follow back what they said, because I am not a super professional in MKB.

I always respect people with experiences. But, I don't appreciate mocking and being full of being an enthusiast. No offense.

learning new things everyday don't we?

you concluded that that topre are "Linear(like MX Red which is linear too) with slight Tactile near end of each finishing press" from "reminiscent of Cherry MX Red and Alps SKCM Cream Damped". so we are telling you that your conclusion is not correct because topre is never linear. i have no idea why the topre was compared to the cherry mx red in the DT article but any users that have used topre before can definitely tell that topre is tactile and far from linear.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29tl4HXiDO4 Linus confirmed topre is tactile (3:59) .

Yes, and that's why I said so(just repeating the article), and that's why I said I am wrong right after and agreed with quovadis123.

@ainuddin,
It goes both ways. That's why I said don't underestimate anyone...
People with experiences are not always correct, and people who're new is not always wrong too.
Ranked people are not always correct too, they can be wrong too. But, that doesn't mean their ranks are useless or fake. They do live up to their titles sometime.
Respect each other.

Meanwhile, I don't not really own a Topre MKB, but tested the Novatouch a little in HeavyArm previously. Realforce KBs, I like the quality, but don't like the "look".
Might not be buying it if I want to buy Filco/ONI Aluminium case. tongue.gif
