Hi,

Could anyone share what's this drive pulley problems only happened to Sept 2010 and May 2011 and not to some models? Don't they have the same pulley? Aren't they the same rubber belt? Or different for tropical weather? Isn't this a very critical component of the engine?

Kenny any thoughts?

Manufacturing process do have revision. Same part number diff revision. The revision can be for cost saving or parts improvement. I believe the defect only start to show lately , mitsu found out and did a massive recall base on part revision.
I believe the pulley will wear prematurely n cause it to start vibrate due to uneven and slowly snap the rubber belt.

It started recall few months back by mitsu. Now only proton got the orders from mitsu i believe. As th engies are preassemble from japan.

Wah, kenny, so fast in reply. Eh, happy CNY and gong hey fat choy. So, in any case the v-belt would have a life span? How long would it be normally? Is our v-belt very long? I googled and seen some diagram of some model cars, wah man, it's very long and it used for quite a few components, like alternator, air-cond, water-pump, power steering, etc. This is a load of things for one pulley man!

Remind me of the last time I send for engine oil change...

7.30am - Masuk, register, handover key.
7.45am - Tech drive car to working area (Wah, thought can finish early, cancel my leave drool.gif )
7.50am - My car naik hai hai
8.00am - Tech open engine oil plug at bottom. After that tech hilang dunno go where
8.30am - Tech comes back, replug the engine oil plug, lap lap a bit, bring my car down, then hilang again. Replace the oil filter too sometime here.
9.15am - Tech comes back, open hood, start refilling engine oil. Hilang again with bottle still upside down at the engine oil inlet.
10.00am - Tech comes back, lap lap again, clean air filter. close hood. Hilang again.
11.00am - Tech drives car to waiting area, handover key to SC rep. Kena marah by boss.
11.30am - I get back my key blink.gif yawn.gif

LOL. This depends which SC lar.....like the one in Mutiara Damansara is like this. Worst Proton SC ever. I usually went to a small Proton SC in Taman Megah. Way better. They even call me when stocks arrived and help me to do advance claim for my service voucher...brows.gif.. Unlike the Mutiara SC, never call back about stocks availability.
