QUOTE(dieoledi @ Aug 3 2015, 01:52 PM)
After i do a research, i think my bike cannot install that IGH, it required 135mm and my bike is 130 mm. Check with some sifu, they said i can install the 135mm to 130 mm, but there is no guarantee the wheel will be straight again, because cannot guarantee "open" 2.5mm at one side, just tell me better don't try to buy a expensive part to damage the bike.

Nice bike or not is not an issue, as sifu here said the part will follow u when u change your bike.

Thanks for your reply.
*
130mm or 135m ,no issues. Can be used. One pull and the hub will just fit in. If really worried, just get a 160 mm long nut with 4 washers and bolts. Try to get the same gauge as the hub's shaft. Fit it evenly on the frame and expand the width turn by turn evenly. 5mm is just a small space. Still worried, take it to Akmal Basikal in Bangsar,he has the special tool for it. icon_rolleyes.gif

hahahah,
if i got option to choose between tern or tyrell for both same price i will choose tyrell... laugh.gif laugh.gif
*
For Tyrell, you are actually over paying for the custom built frame, Japanese workmanship. Other than that, components, just like Birdy, the specs doesn't match up to the price. It's light, Yes! but folding is a bit complicated and not compact. If it was that price, I go for the Brompton but only if I need the fold size for commuting. Other than that.........Naaaahhh! I fo for Dahon and upgrade to the max with money still to buy everyone drinks. Unless off course, the WOW! cool2.gif factor lah.

actually love the fx with dropbar when comparing the bullhorn on verge x30
i'm comparing the verge x20 and tyrell fx in terms of price and feel.the new verge x20 package are not that valueable than 2014 version.the different are wheelset and tarsus aluminium fork.the tyrell in other hand for me is a good bike with carbon fork and it feels like riding a roadbike.besides, the price for tyrell are not drop that much comparing to other brand in 2ndhand market.

compact and size wise, the tern are more small fold factor but the tyrell are good in riding feel.for me groupset can change later.i've rode tyrell fx and the new 2015 verge x20 before. tyrell feel much more comfort and solid!

but of coz,
i wont buy both bike as i dont have money that much laugh.gif still love my tern with carbon fork.solid feel and riding feel more comfort than before and feel a bit like tyrell fx before laugh.gif
*
The thing about Tyrell is, their 20 speed units ( Tyrell CX ) cannot be folded and those foldable ones ( Tyrell FX ) is only single chain ring units. I think it is possible to add anther chainring, easy in fact with the small diameter seat tube but their folding style makes it a bit bothersome. The rear triangle folds as well making the chain slack. But it is possible, so far no one did it. I tried riding it but when I compared to my Dash and also my wife's Performer velo, it's hardly rides better. The Dash is with 105 groupset and the Performer Ultegra groupset, both full set and both are still much cheaper than the standard Tyrell. icon_rolleyes.gif

laugh.gif eclipse x20 is the pirate ninja. im talking about verge x20 laugh.gif
*
Talking about the Pirate Ninja, Gin Huat has actually imported the Dahon IOS. Also 24 inch and same frame as the Ninja, colour is different, off course. It's 9 speed for 3K plus and even comes with hydraulic disc brakes. shocking.gif
Have to careful when folding though. Add another 1.8K and you can have Shimano 105 ,22 speed. Sell off the original parts for say, 400 bucks and all in all that's only 5.3K for 22 speed folding 24 inch with hydraulic disc brakes. Higher spec-ed than the Pirate Ninja and much much lower priced! rclxms.gif

You need to get the SL-R780 flat bar shifters though if you use flat bar. The 105 brifters can be sold fr 550 bucks. The SL-R780 is about 400 bucks but so far I haven't see the 11 speed ones yet, only 10 speed Can change to 105 ten speed ones though. I saw one unit in Kimbell Jaya, that's why know it is disc brake.

2nd option maybe can change saddle.the saddle a bit more subjective depends on personal choice.im suing brooks sadle and without any cycling pants or underwear.

and always a bright outfit when cycle.nvm about to slow, as long u didnt block the traffic

Hahahahahaaha tongue.gif For a while I was shocked! shocking.gif

Then I realised it was spelling mistake. You are using Brooks but you wrote 'suing Brooks". Hahahaa. Tambah lagi , without underwear.

They cycle all the way from here and the only public transport is ferry?

Yes, and also the train ride back to KL. icon_rolleyes.gif

Before I parted with my foldie gang, I have actually planned a ride from Klang to Penang and at that point there were 21 participants. In fact most of the recce has been done. The idea was a slow relaxing ride. Doing maximum 75 to 90 kilometers a day and riding only in the mornings. After noon, we will have already checked into a hotel and explore the places. Seems KK (who was initially one of the riders who has agreed to join) followed up and went through the plan. Syabas! to him. At least our recce did not go to waste. KK was in most of the trips. The original plan was,

1st day, Klang to Sekinchan - mainly isolated kampong roads and some stretches fireroad by the seaside (can be seen on the pictures) Ths kind of road stretches from Tg.Karang till Sekinchan and straight on till Pasir Panjang.

2n day , Sekinchan to T.Intan - Sekinchan >> Sg.Besar, using an old main road which is quite deserted nowadays. Sg.Besar to Bagan Datoh , might use the main road, once in a while.

3rd day, T.Intan to Sitiawan -First part s main road across the bridge over Perak River till a point, detoured into kampong roads all the way till the Sitiawan temple. Then from, travel into village road through Kg.Cina and ends in
a home stay near the main traffic light junction.

4th day, Sitiawan to Trong - Main road till detour into Teluk Senangin and from there, there's an small offroad thru oil palm plantation to Segari turtle hatchery. From there to the main road and then main road to Pantai Remis and
then straight to Trong. In Trong there's a nice homestay / motel which s right at the estuary (Kuala) of the river with ikan bakar.

5th day, Trong to Nibong Tebal - Trong > Kuala Sepetang (secondary roads) > boat ride from Sepetang to Kuala Gula > Kuala Kurau (on the man road but very little traffic) > Tg.Piandang (coastal road passing pantai Ban Pecah
and finally to Nibong Tebal (all the way coastal sandy trail through Sungai Burong and Bagan Tiang and after Bagan Tiang, the border road between Penang and Perak)

I considered Nibong Tebal Penang already and a bus will pick us up there to cross the 2nd bridge (cyclist not allowed although there's a motorcycle lane). Seems KK has cut some time off their schedule as they are riding in a pair only (easy to manage as my group then was about 20 to 24 riders rclxub.gif ) They are able to ride straight to Butterworth as they are only a pair and this is not advisible if you are in a big group as the road from there to Butterworth is narrow and filled with heavy vehicles.

Maybe someone here wants to organize such a ride thumbup.gif For those interested in part of the recce rides, can check Ah Pek Biker's blog here. It's no easy task organizing such rides though.

I only thinking of night riding now, not overnight, though that is quite tempting as well 😀😀😀
Have been doing some ride in different places such as KL car free day, putrajaya lake via picc hill, kesas and another one the infamous kiara hill / planetarium ride ( which I need to push my bike ) and I really enjoy every type of places. And it doesn't matter if I need to push my bike this time or not. Just enjoy the process and tell myself when my stamina are better, I'll able to conquer all hill 😁😁
*
Pushing the bike or 'TnT' (Turun n' Tolak) as we call it is part and parcel bicycle riding. icon_rolleyes.gif

Happy Cycling's night rides usually involves riding on the main roads with traffic. Do be careful icon_rolleyes.gif

There's a Taman Negara trip coming up. Something like this. This was also organized by me last year. If you are interested, I can hook you up when time comes. I gave up organizing but Jotaro also known as Ah Pek Biker is doing it this year. thumbup.gif

QUOTE(lls119 @ Aug 18 2015, 06:38 PM)
my sis bought from ensogo counterfeit hummer.
The left shifter very hard to push to the 3rd gear.

1..If i plan to change left shifter, any brand recommended ? (easy to shift 3 gear )

2..And what is the tube size for 20' rims ?
3..What is the max psi ?
4..What is the seat tube diameter as i found it is slightly shorter than rb seatpost ?
5..ANywhere can buy the seatpost and tube?

Thank u very much and have a nice day.
*
The left shifter is probably bad adjustments only. The limit screw for the front derailleurs needs to be loosen a turn or two only The pull has already been limited, that's why it is hard to shift up. 20 inch rims use 20 inch inner tubes lorrr! biggrin.gif The width depends on your tire's width, anyway, there's only 2 sizes. Not sure, get the smaller one, which also can be used for bigger widths also. It lighter also but usually branded ones, tongue.gif Again maximum pressure depends on your tires. It should be listed on the tire's sidewalls.

You ask funny questions rclxub.gif Better to get your original seat post and show it to the shop when getting a new seat post. Most bicycle shops sells it.As long as the minimum length is in the seat tube,it doesn't matter how long the seat post is. In fact road bikers cut off the extra length to save weight also.

Hi Etigge,

I've just read your blog on broga ride. May I know the route you taken? It seems to be a really nice ride there. Where did you start? At the temple?
Would much appreciated. Thanks

Paul Kong

Yes, it starts from the temple and goes back out to the village and then turn left heading towards Mantin. Here's the map link.

QUOTE(o.d @ Aug 21 2015, 01:09 PM)
My clasp mechanism fall again this morning! The nut that hold it in keep falling off when I clasp it for locking (refer picture). I think probably the thread damaged but when I screw it off the bike it screw in fine. Went to few hardware shop and bicycle shop, none have the suitable nut. So seller give me supplier address to let them do it. Luckily both time this happen, I'm at home, don't wanna experience frustrations when riding outside!

So, for new people shopping for foldie, I think if you have budget, better go for a well established folding maker as you don't want to deal with this kind of thing I'm also saving now to buy proper bike in future.

No biking till monday... :-(

My bike is Raleigh Wrangler
*
Most probably the treads has loosen off or worn off at the moving shaft. If it is the bolt, then replacing t is easy but my guess is the shaft tread. If you know how to take out the shaft, replacing the shaft with a same length and diameter nut with the same tread ( different size tread for that matter, just get same size nut with the tread) it can be easily replaced. But don't waste time taking it to bike shops, anything that takes time repairing, they won't touch it, they start giving all sort of excuses.

Another alternative is retreading the existing one to smaller gauge and change the bolt to the new size. icon_rolleyes.gif

Dear sifu
Current shortlisting this 2 model within my budget
Dahon vigor d9
Tern link n8

Which one is better in term or future upgradeability and value?
*
Quite obvious the preferred choice is Dahon Vigor in this case. First the Vigor frsme is lighter, second the fold mechanism is better thsn Tern, third it is a 9 speed with double walled rims, Tern's uses the single wall ones the last time but I am not sure now, Vigor also have better handle post and it folds better too,Fourthly, the Vigor is the the latest designed frame from their Vector (top end model) series compared to the brosd tube Tern Link models. It's one of their first models other thsn the Verge. Need I say more ? tongue.gif

If it is good, no need to use 'leng lui' to advertised for their promotional campaign. It's a bicycle not a sports car.

One last important point, the Dahon Vigor is cheaper to upgrade later. icon_rolleyes.gif

Thanks so much etigge. The shaft thread still fine, the nut thread is the problem. Yeah you are right, bicycle shop at my house dont do it and just say there is no nut that size. Also diy shop also dont have the nut. But already brought to the supplier bicycle shop (bicycle world, tmn melawati) this morning as the online seller I bought from take from them, and replace with better nut. Friendly n helpful shop, she said if anything just come back to her, luckily near my area.

However, seems like the way the mechanism is, spring and screw, I foresee, after a while it'll get loose again. So I better have some tools and spares with me in case.
Your Raleigh Ugo is a better bike than mine and is established beginner folding bike. Many people use it as their first folding :-). Mine is a lower version of it.

Btw azam, guess what, I go see the bag seller that day. The bie don't fit in the bag!! :-(
*
If you have mentioned that the shaft tread was still OK, it would have been solved a long time ago. Nuts are available in all sizes, types and materials in Central Nuts and Bolts in Jalan San Peng near 'Hor Chin Yeen'. I usually buy screws, nut and bolts from these kind of shops also known as 'fasteners centers'. In fact there are 2 near my area near The Mines. Like those small little allen bolts that I use on my wife's pedals, works wonders thumbup.gif They grip better than the normal ones provided by pedal companies. The cost, only RM4.50 for 30 pcs compared to RM30 for 8 pcs Shimano ones rclxub.gif

user posted image

Like those allen bolts for the bottle cage , I got them at 20 cents each (stainless steel ones lagi thumbup.gif ) from these shops. Usually bike screws, nuts and bolts are metric sizes M4, M5 and in the case of brakes M6. Next time, go to these shops for bolts and nuts part. icon_rolleyes.gif

New stock will be much higher price if our currency remains weak right? Just bought Dash from Kimbell jaya last week and my wife loves it. I puntured the tube when test riding it. Cost RM30 to fix at a bicycle shop in Puchong. Maybe I need to learn to do it myself.
*
Serious ! shocking.gif RM30 to repair a puncture! The most is change a tube and that they charge RM15 to RM20 (very high already) for the tube and usually they will change for free. You must be very rich looking fella, hahahaa.

PS/ Just to let you know, 406 tubes also can be use on 451 wheels. Just need to stretch a bit.

Hi, do you think this will work on Tern link b7? Is the derailleur compatible?

B7 specs:

Frame: Link, aluminum, patented FBL 2 Joint and DoubleTruss technology, Igus bearings
Fork: Hi-tensile steel
Rear Derailleur: Shimano RD-FT35
Number of Gears: 7
Shifters: Shimano 7 spd
Chainset: Cold-forged 6061 aluminum crank arms, hand-polished
Bottom Bracket: Two-piece
Cassette: Shimano 7 spd, 14-28T
Chain: 7 spd
Pedals: VP, folding
Brakeset: V, aluminum, linear spring
Brake Levers: V, aluminum bracket/lever
Handlebars: Flat bar, 6061-AL
Stem: Telescope, 6061-AL
Headset: Cartridge
Grips: BioLogic Ergo, Kraton
Rims: Aluminum
Front Hub: Mini, aluminum, QR
Rear Hub: 7 spd, aluminum
*
The rear derailleur can just, just manage, almost to the limit already. You might need to extend the chain though or change another if you can't find extra similar links. But it might just be enough, the old one. icon_rolleyes.gif
