Fuhh Soon can buy mordor at cheaper price. Should just wait out for DA:I and CoD too. save up for rig.
*
It is very unlikely for CoD to drop that low though, not until towards the second half of next year where Black Ops 3 is announced and will be out.

Still, one month old game, can get with season pass with the launch price. It is pretty good IMO.

Wont buy now, money will be thrown at Firaxis so that they make another bloody XCOM expansion.

Yeah I know. But trying to weigh whether it's worth it. Problem is that my lappy will be strained like mad to handle CoD. So buying now and not being able to play, or playing and sending my lappy to an early grave isn't something I'm keen on. Lately been quite scared of my lappy being strained too much.

Wouldn't mind straining for DA: I on lowest setting though tongue.gif . hmmm more motivation to save up for a rig instead of buying games.
*
I doubt straining your laptop will end it to early grave though. My laptop runs at 95C to 105C at times when its dusty. It is still running fine till now. Unless you had overclocked it or shut down often, it should be fine.

If you need help with the paypal part, I can help.

Still, I agree on getting the new rig part more. No fun playing on low details. laugh.gif

Hey look, another laptop gamer!

Your laptop would eventually retire anyway, most of them retire early after 3 years or more because the games are becoming demanding.

What the graphic card on your laptop?

And what Cheese just said, get a rig for serious stuff.
*
Well, I have been a laptop gamer since uni. Still using laptops for games till now as I still havent settled down yet. Laptops are a lot easier to move than desktops.

I dont play much demanding games now so i think my current one will last me probably 5 years if there isnt any parts or heat issues.

Don't be like me, I having hard times to get my rig due to need to buy more space. My GT 520 can't even keep up with LoL and HL2 doh.gif I wonder it's the dust clogged up hmm.gif
*
Looks like your heatsinks are clogged up. Either look for a guide to disasemble it to clean it but beware of voiding your warranty.

Or you need to buy an air can to dust it, preferably once every 6 months. That will keep your laptop at its tip top shape without throttling.

Most modern laptop designs are pretty shit. They run at 80 to 90C then, shut down at 100C. There isnt much temperature margin to play with these days. doh.gif

That will destroy your fans. Only use electronics safe air cans.

some part need more hardcore like psu & cpu heatsink
*
That will destroy your fans bearing and even the electronics as the air current is too strong.

That is not hardcore. If you want hardcore, disassemble it to clean.

Since we're kinda on the topic of cleaning, how often (or not at all) do you all reapply the thermal paste? I've read around that it's not needed unless you're changing heatsink and/or the cpu temp goes way up.
Recently changed from stock to 212x, so was just wondering.
*
Never. Using IC Diamond where it is designed to last for 5 years.

Generally it is not needed unless it is not performing well or you are upgrading.

I just go to Lowyat Plaza bro. RM50 only for each service..
Unless needed to re-apply thermal paste and etc, that is a different cost.
Which you can decide if you want to do it or not.
*
Hmm, can I have the shop contact?

QUOTE(s7ran9er @ Nov 14 2014, 12:41 PM)
Where do you find those air cans? Are those cans expensive?
*
I use this:

user posted image

I bought it for RM50. It has to be inert to electronics as if not, there is a chance that it might fry your components.

QUOTE(ChocChristy @ Nov 14 2014, 12:42 PM)
I don't overclock it but I leave my lappy on (or in hibernation mode occasionally) for 12 hours everyday. Been thinking of shutting it down when I'm not using, but you mentioned shutting it down too often isn't good?

And yes, the dust is the part I'm afraid of. Haven't cleaned it properly for almost 10 months. Planning to get a compressed air can tomorrow and try to clean a bit. Though honestly find it hard to dismantle my laptop properly for cleaning.
Yeah, been using laptop for 2 years now (I think), after my 8 year old desktop died.

AMD Radeon HD 6730M.

Been playing Evil Within on medium settings with no issue, but I recalled BF4 multiplayer on lowest was quite bad.
Yeah, where do you go service your laptop?
*
I meant if your PC shutdown due to overheat a lot, then, it is not good for the long term as GPUs and CPU will start to disintegrate after 110C. That might shorten their life span.

I tend to shut it down when Im not using it cause its quite a waste of electricity.

Maybe try with compressed air can. It might help. Dismantling isnt easy. My old laptop needs 2 hours to dismantle cause have to remove all the casing to reach the heat sinks.

For air can cleaning, I follow the methods shown in the video.

ZgamesChocChristys7ran9er

Been doing this for the past 4 years and my old laptop is still strong. No throttling. Try to open the back panel as it does have better results in cleaning as there are more space for the dust bunnies to fly out. Always spray once on your hand to ensure the air can is dry as sometimes, there might be some condensation on the tip. And always spray in short burst like the video, as if you spray too long, some of the liquid inside might flow out.

Its the lazy way.

Dunno will it work on my new rig. sweat.gif

Thanks!

Whoa, RM50 is kinda steep.
Side note, just played around with Dragon Age Keep and decided to reinstall DA: O and to try to finish it.
*
Yeah, but no choice. Can be used for 2 years in my past experience with another can in dusty room.

Ambersil is expensive, and thats the only electronics inert one I found that time.

QUOTE(faidz85 @ Nov 14 2014, 02:51 PM)
How long a can of compressed air can be used? Cause I think it's also quite good to clear out those dusts stuck inside the fins of desktop CPU/GPU coolers.
*
It lasts 2 years for me, for my last can so its an ok investment even though its RM50.

Peace of mind when gaming.

Why did you get them? I've been to numerous hardware shop and yet I can't find them. Resorted to just use alcohol/water and swab to clear. sweat.gif

I found it at Ace Hardware.

Ask the staff there, they should know. I think low yat also has some.

Titanfall so cheap. But I'm guessing the servers are quite dead.  sweat.gif

I did ask around. It seemed like Titanfall is still playable in US server. Around 200ping from Malaysia.

SEA is very much dead though.

Wah, so quiet today. All busy playing games?

Playing VC, Banner Saga(iOS) and CoD AW.

The first 2 are amazing where for me both are way above my expectations. VC is great, very much squad tactical strategy with a decent story and interesting characters where i can't send them to death like XCOM. Each mission are also interesting too while there is Alicia waifu that took out a whole squad of enemies. . tongue.gif

Banner Saga, I thought it was an average game as the combat was quite shallow but can be difficult. However, the story and art style kept me hooked all the way. Can't wait for the second game.

AW is a bit disappointing. The net code is kinda crap and it really needs dedicated servers as i experienced a lot of inconsistent ping. You probably dodged a bullet here. Gameplay wise, its familiar but it is much better than Black Ops. A lot more verticality which is good but inconsistent ping made it a pain to play.

Anyone play farcry 3?
should direct get Far Cry 3 - Deluxe Edition RM16.50 right?
no point to get normal farcry 3?
Far Cry 3 - Blood Dragon is what? multiplayer right?
fun? or dead already?
I thinking to get farcry 3 deluxe instead of whole farcry Franchise Pack cos no time to play.
*
I played both games. I won't recommend far cry 3 because to me, it feels like it has a lot of boring fillers in between the fun comtent. Then, some of the fun stuff like the gliding suit are unnecesarily locked until the last half of the game. I dislike the hunting and crafting part of the game where I find it to be tedious and unfun. The game takes me 25 hours, i might spend 10 hours hunting tigers and collecting herbs which is boring. The combat is pretty good as you can choose how you want to approach. Do you want to burn the whole jungle to beat them? Or snipe them one by one? Or go in guns blazing? Or by stealth? The story is so so as only the first half is good. The second half is pretty shit.

If you want to buy a Far Cry game. I'll recommend Blood Dragon. It has a lot less shitty crafting and hunting while you go straight into the action. It took me about 7 hours if I'm not wrong.

I dodged a bullet and went into a hail of mg fire it seems.  sweat.gif  sweat.gif  RL friends poisoning me to get DA: I to play co-op, even though the co-op's prolly crap and shouldn't be the main focus of the game. But the temptation of playing with friends is high.

Trying to work out my budget to see if I can. Really hope it drops to RM100 for Christmas, but unlikely :/
Side note, started playing DA: O again. Modded it and now it takes 2 mins to load a save game  sweat.gif  tongue.gif  But gosh Dragon Age Redesigned and Improved Atmosphere mods really made the game's atmosphere a lot better.
*
Lol. Get DA:I then. ME3 coop was quite fun but I didn't play much after getting countless sniper rifles and nothing i want due to their random unlock system. DA:I coop will probably be the same as ME3. Free content with microtrasactions. Except now, DA:I coop gets a randomized dungeon that keeps things fresh.

DA:I seemed to has good feedback so far. I guess the price will remain high for a while as it looked like it will sell well to me. A bit tempted to get DA:I too but I have enough games in my hands so far so I'll skip for now.

Yeah, DA:O does need some mods these days. It didnt aged well IMO but there are plenty of mods to make things better.

Noooooooo!!! So madddddd. I turned on Origin just now and it auto updated DA: O. Now DA: O doesn't launches on Steam anymore.... whenever I launch  DA Modder, it auto launches Origin. T.T Steam says "No executables found"
*
Now EA also do that. Sigh. doh.gif

Blizzard has been doing that for years. Still hate them for doing that.
