QUOTE(sayasebuk @ Sep 22 2006, 10:12 AM)
this is my malayan box turtle. do you guys notice anything suspicous that i should be concerned about?
EDIT: found it in a drain next to my home last month
*
Buddy, your Box Turtle is fine but your RES is in pretty bad condition especially the one in the bottom picture. The white colour spots on its carapace is caused by fungus attack. It may never recover as far as i i know as it has already been quite serious. I suggest you separate them immediately.

Water is very important and basking spots are almost a must when in comes to turtles imho. Hope your turtle can cure though.

Uzairi, i got it from a friend so pretty good deal, as he only have one and its wild caught. Paid RM50 for it. Am looking for another one but have never seen any before so far. I've seen Malayan Snail Eaters but not this one.

ekiddie, slick job! But i advice you dont do it again! Stealing is still something not very nice to be done but anyway, he look fine to me. You need to provide him a proper both water and land area then he'll be fine. From your pictures i am guessing it a 'He' smile.gif

whoa... 5-6years and it's 12"... not bad oso ha... hehe... coz' de problem is i stay in an apartment... and if it's too big it's hard for me to have place for them u see... unless when it grow super big d... i gave it to uzairi lor... hahaaa!!

ya... wat's de biggest turtles/tortoises u have? and years taken to take care of them?

o yah... how bout' common snapper?

wink.gif
*
ekiddie, actually the snapper grow rate depend on your feeding and where you house it as well, just like what Uzairi mentioned earlier. The more you feed the growth rate is sure faster. Like mine i only feed them fishes and maintain them in small aquarium thus they dont grow more than 5 inch even after i'd had them for almost 5 years now. They are just fine and they adapt to the environment very well.

Common does not grow as big as Ally Snapper but they are aggresive turtles. Cute when they are young wink.gif

People, i am not sure of the name of the shop in TTDI but if you come from 1U side, after the traffic lights at the cross road, go straight till you come to another traffic light, turn left. Follow the road as it curves to right (at this time, there are row of shophouses on your right) and all the way till you see shop houses on your left, turn left and its in the middle of those shops. I will go there tomorrow again and find out the name.

Sorry titan, i am not good in directing people. Hope you can find it.

Kamekame, they have a pair of juvenile Star tortoise but not for sale. Very nice Star tortoise i must say. They also have a Malayan Flatshell turtle but not for sale either.

Uzairi, i am interested in those Black Breasted Leaf turtles but i'd like to see the actual turtle, possible to arrange? PM me please. Thank you very much.
By the way, i cant open the pictures that you posted. Wanted to see the dead turtle.

Uzairi, finally can view the pictures you posted. The dead one is a Malayan Flatshell turtle, Notochelys Platynota. Am sure you know it. Hey why the rest all plastron shots only? Give us some shots of the whole turtle buddy smile.gif Cheers.

UPMPara, very sorry to hear that. But let bygones be bygones. All the best with Yangyang and wish Yinyin rest is peace. Spare the dog as it is normal for it doesnt understand humanity. God bless.

People, those snappers in Irene and 88 are Common Snappers. Dont be mistaken with Alligator Snappers. They are different, very different.

Kamekame, i saw the Black Breasted Leaf turtle at Irene going at RM90. Am trying to look for other source as one the turtle there isnt that nice, broken toes. You can have a look there first.

Titan, after browsing the page i am sure you can differentiate an Alligator Snapper from a Common Snapper. Its quite obvious actually. Good luck.

Uzairi, i'll keep you update. Cheers.

ekiddie, there is no 'Autumn Leaf Turtle'. Most probably its simply named by the shop people. But i believe it is the Black Breasted Leaf as RM88 is very close to its pricing now. Thanks for sharing. If you can get me a picture it would be great. Cheers.

ekiddie, congrats on your Stinkpot. I would suggest you provide it a filteration system as to keep it in clean condition at all times.

Malayan Snail Eater turtle is very different animal from Malayan Box turtle although the head looks a little similiar. Did you see it anywhere?

ekiddie, better watch out as Musk turtles tend to snap whenever being held up.

crazymouse, if you got the picture from Pet Family then its a Razorback Musk. LoggerHead Musk have an orange plastron whereas Razorback Musk dont.

Here is two more picts of my Black Breasted Leaf turtle...and a plastron shot for you Kamekame. Cheers.

You have a pair too ? Nice man. Both 6 inchers ? My snapper is quite big and its hard to handle him. Damn aggressive.  sweat.gif Currently im finding a mate for him, hard to find nowdays.  doh.gif
*
Ya man i got a pair, one slightly smaller by half an inch i think. They are aggressive but if you handle them more often they will get use to it and be more tame. Never try handling them after drying out water of their tank, take them when they are underneath, fully covered by water. Much safer this way.

QUOTE(titansulcata @ Oct 12 2006, 08:16 PM)
Guys, i just went to pet safari. Not many new hatchling... the same since last visit (except all hatchling sulcata and star sold out), but...

They have lots of new juvenile & adults like:
1x pig nose
1x ally (rm450) - around 18 cm
5x sulcata - around 30cm
2x unknown

really a beauty, they put all the big tortoise at the entrance of the exotic section

worth a visit
*
They have a new Alligator Snapper in Ikano? RM450 only for an 18cm specimen?? Could be a Common Snapper no? Anyway i know they have some hatchling Yellow Headed Temple turtle...could be what you noted as unknown. RM120 each i think. Pretty cool turtles that grow pretty huge as well.

ekiddie, be patient as i am sure the hatchling Alligator Snapper will come back in shops with less ridiculous price. Cheers.

Regards.
