Hi people. Been away a while, hope all is well. Anyway Uzairi, what you have there is like what Kamekame said, its Malayan Black Marsh / Mud Turtle, and not Asian Leaf Turtle and of course not Malayan Flat Shell, way too different. Flatshell does not have black colour at all and Leaf is olive green or darker but never as black, and never had white spots on its head.
Anyway this Malayan Black Marsh Turtle is a very shy species and must not be handle too often at beginning. Otherwise serious stress will lead to their death. I am thinking to add them to my collection as well, they are cute turtles In the picture below, the one on the right is Malayan Black Marsh, middle is Malayan Box, left is Stinkpot. BillyJoe,
I think every Alligator Snapping turtle has their own individual character. Some may be tame while some very aggressive. Always be cautious while handling them and the best is to leave them alone. Dont disturb them unnecessarily. Afterall they are wild animals, dont take the chance. My 2c. Anyway, i havent spotted any hatchling Alligator Snappers since a while. You might have to wait a little longer BillyJoe. They are interesting turtle and with a price tag of RM200 it is a lot of turtle for the money. Good luck in your hunt. 2 pictures of mine... Uzairi, sorry bout your loss but dont be too upset since its over and no point crying over spilled milk. Anyway i am pretty curious as well whether how yours and ekiddie's turtle manage to escape. Would you guys illustrate more on your setup? It will help others to prevent this from happening next time.
Anyway the bigger sotfshell in Aquaria is a Chitra chitra,as per in the picture posted by our forummer. Cheers. |
