i juz receive my pocket money....
want to buy those 2 2-2.5INCH Star Tortoise......

i know that most of u guys said that their survival rate is only 10%.
mayb better for me to try to take care of them rather then let them die in the hand of ignorant petshop,
that only want to make money rather then took care of them....... mad.gif

i want to try... but i'm no expert.

so guys..... what i need to buy 1st after a fish tank ? i want to set their home 1st bfore i get them.
what type of medicine or vitamins i need.
uzairi already teach me a thing or 2.....
juz wandering mayb some of u guys have other things to teach me laugh.gif
Thanks~~~~

Try to dry dock it, then put some bethadine to clean the wound. I suspect the container that you put them have rough surface. Some of my res do have that also but it comes and go. smile.gif

the enclosure looks like it is too small. it might look big enough in relation to the size of the tortoise, but bigger enclosures should be used. the little ones face the risk of being dehydrated if basking lamp is utilised, as there are not much ground for the little ones to hide/run from the heat.

diet.. i think uzairi told you already smile.gif

60 minutes sun bath time does not equate to basking spot.. the turtles should be allowed to dry themselves off on basking spots whenever they want.

and speaking of 60 minutes of sunbaths, too long exposure to too hot temperature could fry them.

we sunbath our turtles so as the turtles can benefit from the UVB rays from the sun. this is for vit D.

basking is another thing altogether. basking is for the turtles to dry themselves and gather heat that can help their digestion and regulate their body temperature (turtles are reptiles and need external source of heat)

a typical indoor setup would require two types of lighting setups. a full spectrum light for UVB, and a basking lamp for basking.
and if you dont want to change the water daily, use a filter.
