Any idea which brokers don't charge commissions towards non-US citizens? Thinkorswim still charges for Malaysians and Singaporeans I believe.

Interactive broker. No platform fee. No dividend fees. Wide market. Basically all US, UK, CANADA, EU, JAPAN, HK, SG, AU market.

If you have no money for interactive broker (min USD100k or generate trading commission of USD10/month) use whitelabels of interactive broker like tradestation global, Captrader, zacktrade.

QUOTE(Icehart @ Mar 28 2020, 06:36 PM)
Guys need a confirmation from the veterans here.

I'm planning to open an IB account for dividend stocks from US. I've opened an account with IBKR but found out they have this $10 inactive fee unless your net value stocks are more than $100k.

Thanks to Ramjade, I was introduced to Tradestation. It seems promising, a front for the similar backend of IBKR with low fees and no inactivity fee (This one very important!).

Any hidden cost that I should know?

Lastly, what an exciting time to pick up some good dividend-paying stocks at this time.

I stumbled across Webull. Have you ever heard of it?
*
The question are
1. Will they accept Malaysians as customer?
May overseas broker don't accept Malaysians.
2. Do you trust a startup?

I will take trading212 as it have proven itself. Then you need to think how are you going to fund it? How are you going to withdraw money.
If you intend to direct TT from Malaysia, good luck. Bank thanks you for giving them free money

Thanks man.
Not planning to use margin as it's a double-edged sword for me.
Wow, didn't know about trading 212 too.
Now the question is why is everyone going IBKR instead of Trading212? Everything looks good.
*
Because IBKR exist long time before Trading212.
Because IBKR offers easy deposit and withdrawal for those with SG bank account. Trading 212 I don't think think they support SG bank account. They only accept USD, EUR and GBP if I am not wrong.

Autopilot here means they already select what ETF they will buy for you. You have no say on what to buy, and when to buy and how much to buy.

Hi, this question probably have been asked to death, but here goes. I always bought four US-domiciled ETFs through Dollar Cost Averaging. They are VOO, VTI, IWF and VNQ. Lately I just realized that my dividends are withheld 30%. I have questions below

1) Is there any offshore/overseas equivalent ETFs that I should buy over their US equivalent
2) It's the dividend that they withhold but not the capital gain right?

I buy them through Singapore's brokerage iOCBC, if that's any help, since I work and live there nowadays even though not PR and not Sg citizen.
*
Yes. Find for alternative for Irish domiciled etf listed on LSE. You are taxxed 15% only.
How to find? First find the index which the etf tracks. 2nd google the index name with Irish domiciled (eg S&P 500 etf irish domiciled)

Third don;t use iOCBC. You are being charged extra dividend charges, very high commision.

Is stashaway consider etf ?? And mirror the same platform like ib ?? I mean in earning.

Yes and no.
Yes because it only invest in etf.
No because it's basically you pay someone to buy etf for you and that someone will try to predict market based available data.

Depends. Sometimes only one of them (Instarem/Bigpay/Transferwise/Moneymatch) is cheaper at that particular moment.

Hi. Can anyone recommend a good performing Global Technology ETF? Are there any ETFs that tracks the MSCI World Information Technology Index? Apparently the MSCI World Information Technology Index can outperform S&P 500.

I discovered that Franklin Technology Fund (unit trust) uses the MSCI World Information Technology Index as it's benchmark. But I prefer investing in ETF, since the Franklin Technology fund doesn't really outperform it's benchmark.

Thanks for the head up. Will check.

Very interesting Ramjade. I need to do more research on QQQ (NASDAQ) and iShares S&P 500 Information Technology Sector.

I was hoping SGX offers technology sector ETFs. Unfortunately, there are none in SGX. I rather buy ETF/stocks in Singapore, as I have a local broker there.
*
Forget about sg market. They have nothing good except reits and banks.

How to make money on ETF? Will you get dividends or you only make when you sell?
*
Depends. Some etf give dividends. Some etf reinvest the dividends automatically.
Majority of people buy etf is for capital gain tax.
