Hello all!

Alright, my 4th day with z5 now.
Had win 7 installed right away on the ssd once got the unit, and had been retrieving my old data/setup/programs for the first 2 days.
And got carried away playing tropico 5 for 2 days tongue.gif

My Spec
Display: 15.6" Full HD Anti-glare Display IPS/AHVA Wide Color Gamut & Viewing Angle (1920 x 1080) with color calibration
Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-4710HQ (6MB L3 Cache, 2.50GHz)
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 860M 4GB GDDR5 with Optimus Technology (Maxwell)
Thermal Compound: IC Diamond Thermal Compound - CPU & GPU
RAM: 8GB DDR3L RAM 1600MHz - 1 X 8GB
Primary Drive: 1TB 7200rpm Hitachi
mSATA SSD RAID Options: Non-RAID
Primary mSATA Solid State Drive: Crucial 128GB M550 MSATA SSD
Secondary mSATA Solid State Drive: None
Wireless Network Card: Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 - WLAN & Bluetooth 4.0 Combo
Operating System: None (Not Recommended for Inexperienced User)
Warranty: ILLEGEAR 2 Year Carry-In Warranty
Accessories: ILLEGEAR Backpack & Velvet Sleeve

here's the summary:

Design & Look: 8/10
it's a heavier than my old dell 1555, but it looked pretty solid and rugged. Hey, no matter how big or heavy it is, i still carry (any) laptop using a laptop bag what. So no frills on the weight here. Also altho they are both 15.6", the z5 looks much bigger because of the larger bezel and keyboard.

Screen: 9/10
Mine is the IPS screen, loved the details it provides. It's awsome!!! However, spotted one dead pixel on Day 2, and I didn't have warranty for that.

Keyboard: 8/10
Adequate for a laptop, of course don't compare to mechanical keyboard la.

Speakers: 6/10
Well it's still a laptop anyway, but much nicer to my old dell 1555. People, if you want quality sound, please la go buy a decent set of speakers.

Cooling system: 9/10
Double vents and double fans do their job pretty well as advertised.

Still yet to discover how to use the macro keys tho.

More to come

Thanks Prince J and illegear for the great product and service. notworthy.gif

Welcome to Z5 Family ! rclxms.gif

I also spotted one dead pixel in 2 days after receive, which the dead pixel in red colour and looks pretty bad when the screen background in windows is black. But Illegear asked me to bring back my laptop for screen exchange for one time. But I haven't change. No time to go illegear shop. But will go there sooner. Let illegear know your problem, im sure they will help you change screen.

Their support after sold is top notch.

Oh I got the driver, it's provided with the cd you gave along with the laptop. Just that i don't know what to do with those macro keys haha.
So what do you guys use those macro keys for?
Thanks for the driver tho.

No offense here, and correct me if i'm wrong.
As per the dead pixel issue, if it happens most frequently throughout the product range, then it's likely to be a hardware design flaw.
Anyway, anyone tried this to fix dead pixel before?
dead pixel fix

On a side note, anyone know how to disable the battery charging? Our Z5 has not removable battery and i found that it's a nuisance to keep charge and discharge over and over again.
Anyone got any smart solutions for this?

I know that people keep saying no need to protect battery la by the time it dies u want to change laptop also.

That's not the case for me as i plan to make this unit last for another 4-5 years.

So all i can do now is just:
1. fully charge the battery,
2. turn off switch,
3. let battery discharge, wait for it to drop til low levels,
4. turn on switch to charge the battery again
5. repeat

If you do like this below:-

1. fully charge the battery,
2. turn off switch,
3. let battery discharge, wait for it to drop til low levels,
4. turn on switch to charge the battery again
5. repeat

Then how do you play games when not charging. What Illegear told me is, all z5 model will stop charging when the battery is full. On my second day after bought I found that my z5 laptop battery dropped to 95% battery and shows this message "(plugged in, not charging)". I was worrying that my battery is no longer charging my battery, after couple time switching the battery power plan and continuous plug in and plug off. Finally I found why it does like that.

My z5 right now will charge the battery if the battery percentage is less than 95%. After it reach 100%. I will just plug out and plug in. Then the message "(plugged in, not charging)" shows. So which means that illegear z5 will not charge the battery if the battery percentage is above or equal to 95% and will start charge if percentage less than 95%. So im having this type of understanding with z5. Im using windows 8.1.

Hope you will figure this out too!!

Hi bro, regarding the statement above, I did experiment in all power plans on my win 7 ultimate but didn't achieve the same effect as yours, which means my battery still charges no matter what percentage it is until to "100% (Fully Charge)" status lit up.

So til now i still have to manually switch off the adapter to prevent overcharging the battery then.
I do frequently keep a tab on my battery level while playing game and start charging the battery when it shows <10% remaining.

Anyway still waiting for any other possible solutions nod.gif

Download the latest macro driver provided by Prince J
For the macro key, I set as below:
M1 = Fn + F4 (Dim Display)
M2 = Fn + F5 (Brighten Display)
M3 = Fn + F7 (Audio Volume down)
M4 = Fn + F8 (Audio Volume up)
I set it so because it saves me the hassle to press the Fn + Function Keys

For the battery, mine is as MgrSagaaboyz said, after I charged the battery to 95% or 99%, it will automatically stop charging. Some time it wont show the update once the battery is charged in the system tray, so I just did what is mentioned to manually trigger the update on the battery. Well since this model is not so well known and popular yet, so can't expect there is a lot of fancy tools to use to manipulate the laptop.

I think for your case, I think the power plan option won't affect the battery charging state. You could try this:
1. Charge battery till 100%
2. Switch off power adapter and unplug the adapter
3. Wait few seconds or minutes then plug in back the adapter and switch it on
4. Check whether the battery is still charging or not. (It should start charging to certain extend.. if not it will give u a message like what is mentioned earlier)

P/S: I'm also using Windows 8.1.. For your case which is Win7.. you may ask Arvinaaaaa if the problem still exist

I'm using Ori Win8.1 Pro biggrin.gif
IMHO, if you want to get Win10 without waiting for pirated version after it is released, better get Ori Windows.. Cause I afraid later there is no Cracked version of Win10 as the system stuff changed quite a lot.. I also believe in final release version it will need some sort of license stuff to enable Cortana. Well it's all my suspicion so it may not happen also.. lol

I think this step is the most important one, unplug the power cord from your laptop OR switch off the adapter, wait for the adapter light to turns off before switching on again

It depends on your old laptop is OEM or Retail version.. if it's retailed version you can deactivate it on your old laptop and reactivate it on your Z5.

Nop. You can get there by LRT + Taxi
Take LRT station to Taman Bahagia / Taman Paramount.. then take taxi to Empire Damansara. The taxi cost is around RM9 - RM12.
