QUOTE(unknown warrior @ Nov 10 2014, 11:33 AM) About 2 years. Started late though. I think is never too late to start what we like to do. I think for me I need to brush up my technical skill to make me excited back and same time pursuing my studies. gonna be challenging. but hopefully can pull through and enjoy the process of learning and training. Was in the corporate world since early 90's. Can say I gave up & lost hope in whatever security the world has to offer. Found hope in Christ to be much better. |

QUOTE(pehkay @ Nov 12 2014, 06:34 PM) Most of the questions asked ... is in the principle of the law or the Old Testament way. Can I wear "mixed" clothing? Can I have tattoo? Should I smoke? Should I practice Sabbath or not? Etc. The principle of the law is you want someone human or something to tell you what to do steps by steps. Man likes to have clear instructions from the Bible concerning everything he does. If the Bible tells us what to do step by step, all we have to do is to act accordingly in a simple way. This is keeping the law. By walking according to these hundreds and thousands of items of the law, a man becomes clear what is right and what is wrong, what is good and what is evil. He also becomes clear concerning the way he should take. This is the law. It is lifeless. Once a man begins to walk according to this dead law, he can put God aside and ignore Him. However, God wants direct fellowship with us. He wants us to receive His revelation and then act according to His revelation. If we do not fellowship with Him, the Spirit will have no outlet for His work. --------- In the Old Testament, people put on earrings in order to beautify themselves. So, spiritually, earring signifies self-beautification according to this age. Today’s culture promotes self-beautification. Men and women spend a great deal of money on items used to beautify themselves. Self-beautification leads to idolatry. Paul says we need to "put on Christ". To put on Christ is to clothe ourselves with Christ. Whenever we clothe ourselves in a certain way, we indicate that we intend to live in that way. In like manner, to put on Christ means that we live by Christ, in Christ, and with Christ. In particular, it means that we live out Christ. Christ becomes the expression of our living. Immediately after we have been put into Christ and have entered into an organic union with Him, we need to live Christ, to put Christ on in our living. Day by day, we need to be clothed with Christ and express Him as we live in Him, by Him, and with Him. Experientially, we are experiencing Christ in every aspect of our daily life, for example, in the clothes we wear, in the way we cut our hair, and in our attitudes. In everything, great or small, we need to experience Christ. In wearing shoes, in cutting our hair, and even in expressing our attitudes, we should have Christ. So, the question you will be asking, does the Lord within you as you fellowship with Him, wear the earring with you? Do you have peace within? Is He one with you in this matter? |

QUOTE(tinarhian @ Nov 12 2014, 11:42 PM) Ok ok enough of me. I actually face almost the exact thing when I become christian about 16 years ago. I have this best friend during form 4 and form 5. But after form 5, we are still keep some friendship although not as close but when i become christian during diploma and 'argue' with him in email related to religion, the good old friendship gone just like that. Now already 16 years later, actually I still miss my old friendship with him. I try to message him in facebook but seem like no response.Today I lost my best friend for 10 years because she don't like me being a Christian. I'm devastated. How could she do this to me? She's my tattoo and clubbing buddy. Of course now, I, er, stop frequenting clubs anymore. hehe... |

QUOTE(tinarhian @ Nov 16 2014, 02:17 PM) So, I got this text message on Saturday morning from the CG elder telling me that tattoos are bad and evil and all that stuffs. this CG elder seems harsh and legalistic ya. But why don't to meet up and discuss first since u also plan to get it remove?OK.. Then they want to suggest to meet up and discuss further with me about this issue. I said its not an issue because I'm going to get it remove. I just told them to stop judging me and leave me alone. Then I got another text message telling me that I am not welcome for next week CG. That sucks! This post has been edited by ngaisteve1: Nov 16 2014, 10:20 PM |

QUOTE(tinarhian @ Nov 16 2014, 11:51 PM) A crazy CG. I should have listened to Warrior advice's, ie, wear jeans. I see. IMO the issue could be not just about the tattoo. I might not fully understand and know in details the conversation between you and elder but I think the way you responded to that talk invitation by saying so ("stop judging me and leave me alone") is not the way it should be. I don't want to meet up because there's nothing to discuss actually since I'm going to get it remove. Maybe I think he don't believe me. He's not the CG leader, he's one of the CG elder. CG leader never even condemn and say anything about my tattoo. I still don't mind coming to the CG, but I do feel awkward since they already judged me. Maybe next Friday, I'll show them my shoulder tattoo. hahaha...That would really irritate them. JK. Perhaps the fear make you afraid to meet the elder? IMO it is good to meet up and talk about it. Easier to resolve anything compare to texting. And if the elder still insist he is right but clearly is wrong, then gotta bring up to the higher level liao. But this is easier to say than to be done sometimes. This post has been edited by ngaisteve1: Nov 16 2014, 11:13 PM |

QUOTE(tinarhian @ Nov 17 2014, 12:14 AM) Maybe he thinks that I'm being rude because I rejected his invitation for discussing this issue. Coz I really don't want to talk about it anymore. ya. for him, he should have talk about it and explain to you face to face in the first place also. Surely not via texting. No, its not fear. I don't like people judging me anymore. How can they continuously condemned me when they don't even know me at all? I honestly dont understand why my tattoos are a BIG deal. Even my parents were pissed off about it, but when I told them that I'm going to remove it, they realized that maybe it's not a big deal after all. |

QUOTE(Decky @ Nov 17 2014, 12:18 AM) If it's PBC or PJEFC, I'd recommend bringing it up to the pastors. If you've presented what happened accurately, I don't see any reason as to why they should've treated you like that. ya my church also allow drinking but reminded that to be in moderation and not get drunk which is sin. Personally, I have no problems with tattoos and I don't think scripture says anything against it; it's simply a Malaysian cultural thing that found its way into Christianity. Same like drinking (although the bible forbids being drunk), when I told my friend from UK about how we Malaysians see drinking as taboo among Christians, he was surprised because in the UK, even the great theologians of old had no issue going to bars. Smoking as well. I believe it's bad and unhealthy, but to say that God forbids it by his word requires strong scriptural proof, which I think no one offers. Of course, it gets more complicated IF you're a leader... But smoking no no lo over here. Perhaps it is much more deadly toxin in it and easier to get addicted kua |

QUOTE(yan7 @ Nov 17 2014, 12:25 AM) de1929, i may not know all, but at least quite a lot. no point i reveal here, coz it is nothing, only for self use. dont worry, the cycle will keep repeating until to the end. I cant change anything although i quite dislike these shits. we can focus on what is clear first say byebye to humanity, it is already reached in almost perfect hopeless state in city and development area/counties. and it is almost impossible for Christ to save these people anymore. ( i guess) and Buddhist (maybe still tiny hopes). the argument and discussion about churches, Christ and all related histories in bible and all form of unclear and parallel vague verses meaning in bible is never ending. continue to keep wasting time since the beginning. good luck This post has been edited by ngaisteve1: Nov 16 2014, 11:30 PM |

QUOTE(Sophiera @ Nov 25 2014, 06:54 PM) Guys, you know there are people who look genderswapped and pose as models for kicks, right? Girl dress like tomboy, normal. Guys dress like girl, abnormal http://en.rocketnews24.com/2014/01/11/this...hotos%E3%80%91/ My bro said it's clearly stated in the bible that guys can't dress as girls, girls can't dress as boys. But, isn't that a statement of 'don't become a transgender'? If dressing and posing for pictures also tak boleh? If dressing itself is a problem that means girls cannot wear jeans or pants anymore. |
