I highly suspect your case will be battery. Software is optimized to read your battery levels accurately. If there is sudden shutdown at certain percentage levels, means the battery wear is high.
*
yup. i suspect so.

btw, do u know how much does it cost to replace the battery for z1?

Yea...Finally it coming...

Do we need hard reset after updating?
*
if you face some weird problem (some function not working, lag, battery drain,...) after the update, then yes, it is recommended

Just updated mine to lollipop. After the update feels that the phone lags and always hot... Battery draining like no tomorrow. Plug in the charger and the phone was charging very slow. I had to switch off my phone to let it charge.

after charging the phone to about 50%, on the phone and straight do a factory reset. After the rest, everything is good. No more lah and everything is smooth. Phone no longer drain as much battery as before. Battery life so far seems the same to me as in kk.

So far this is what I think of the update:

Things I like:
- smooth ui. I think better than kk.
- notification at lock screen. I find this useful.
- double swipe for quick settings. I think this is easier to access with single hand

Things I don't like:
- huge icons! I think it's very ugly.

How to do a quick factory reset? Need to back up?
*
This time I just manually copy some of my photos to sdcard. I did not backup any apps or game data as most are saved in the game server. After reset I just redownload all the apps and most data will be retrieve.

to reset, go to settings--- backup & reset--- factory data reset
to backup, you may use the backup and restore app found in your app drawer.

yess
my battery improved suddenly
no more sudden shutdown when got 30% battery
no more shutdown/overheat when use camera

was full format 3 days ago (again) with complete data wipe in internal
just pain for waiting installing apps and setting
and thanks to google backup, all software auto recover nicely in overnight

tested until 5%
so far so good, still can do browsing with dimmed screen

at least i can save my budget 1st tongue.gif
*
initially after i did the factory reset, i too feel that my battery life have got better. no more sudden shut down due to battery empty. but after maybe 2 days using, the problem came back i think. will need longer time to monitor.

but anyway, i can really feel my battery bulging, so i may send for battery replacement these few days

Things to do before start

Steps

1) Reboot to recovery
2) Flash Xposed (xposed-arm-20150308.zip)
3) Flash below after flashed xposed

sony center ?? still got warranty? i work in TTDI maybe should go change also..haha
*
Sony Centre in the curve. Z1 warranty only 1 year. I have been using mine for about 18 months already. Unless it comes with 2 years warranty, which I don't think so lo.

Start button? From what I know the metallic ring is at the volume jack.

ckchan woo, a fresh look phone. Probably I should replace mine as well Cuz the battery life is quite bad in lollipop.
*
Yeah... Feels like a new phone now. My battery life now back to normal. Even running lollipop, as of now can get 3 hours sot with 40% juice left

If you bought it during a promotional period, there is 2 years warranty.

Btw, does your back panel bulge? Because every dismantling, sometimes they won't properly seal the back panel which results in waterproof failure.
*
Not promotional period. Bought it by signing up with maxis contact.

yup.. My back panel does bulge out b4 this. Now I can really feel it's flat. I did see their service report. They say they did conduct the waterproof test la.

lol, u are so lucky!!!
*
thumbup.gif

been using my phone these few days and i can say i do not feel and battery drain on the latest lollipop firmware. now i can easily get 3.5 hours SOT, on some occasion 4 hours. that is exactly the same amount of SOT when i first got my new z1 back then with JB. so, for those who experience battery drain with lollipop, i suggest u do a factory reset.
