I have two HT Stan Lee's figures and had always hoped that I can meet him one day and get him to sign them.
Looks like I can forget about it now... cry.gif

Hi guys, I have a question I hope you can help me with. I'm not even sure if this is the right thread to ask.

I want to buy a seamless doll that's similar to the stuff from Phicen. Which means, it's an anatomically correct figure with removable clothing. This is the first time I'm buying something like this.

This is a smaller scale item that's under RM200 from HK. This figure also comes with shorts and a tank top, but I don't know if such figures are normally packed nude or with the clothing on.

Is it likely kastam will withhold this item? I think as the value and size are small, it might be ignored? But let's say they decide to open, do you think it will be held for being lucah? Would articulated dolls be exempt? Although it's a seamless type.

Thanks for any feedback.

Probably won't be held by customs if a) the price including shipping is less than RM500 and b) box isn't too big. Even if detained, they will summon you to open it, not open themselves. If that happens just explain to them what the item is, you'd be surprised that they actually do have a sense of humor if you play your cards right.

Is it me, or are people really slowing down or moving away from Hot Toys collecting in Malaysia? Nowadays there's always someone getting rid of their figures because the economy is rough, and the prices for the figures are getting out of hand.

this. no matter how well you care for your hot toys, unless you keep them in a controlled environment, they're not gonna last. at my end, i only have ht iron man (not pu?) and 3a halo series. i've turned my sights on more durable items since... swiss army knives thumbsup.gif

Just look at this thread for example, all posts about new pre-orders. No one talks about the toys themselves or their collection. It's like an advertisement thread rather than a labor of passion.

My last order from hottoys was Hulkbuster, for me the price of Hot toys are too high if compare with the quality and accessories provide. Not sincerity.

now Ironman can easily hit 1.3K puke.gif

yes, pricing is perhaps the no. 1 issue. but that said, it's not peculiar to hot toys as the price increase has affected almost, if not all, hobbies, no thanks to the weakened ringgit against the us dollar. this is exacerbated by the higher cost of living for us here in malaysia that we do not have as much "spare change" to indulge in our hobby, so to speak. but that's just stating the obvious. an alternative would be to either wait for bargains or buy off the secondary market (if the price drops, that is).

i would agree, hot toys are priced pretty steeply... but to be fair, i don't think any other high end action figure comes close to the amount of detailing and accuracy you find in hot toys. then again, it all depends on the point at which the price meets the level of acceptable details/accuracy. there are toys and there are collectibles... but at which point one becomes another is debatable.

3rd party Transformers as in WJ and BMB?
Yeah they do make mean TF figures and the prices are real value for money too.
I have also stopped buying HT because of the price.
When I started collecting HT, the price was just around RM300+.

Currently I have two HT ironman, and made PO for Mark VII and Hulkbuster Deluxe. That's about all I'm currently collecting from HT.

I have to agree the prices of HT ironman are steep, but when I factor in that the POs are usually 10-12 months in advance, I usually would just save around 200 a month until release date. That way I know I don't have to fork out a small fortune on release day.

Knowing which release to purchase also helps your wallet. Unless you're a "collect em' all" person, I reckon most of us would just collect that particular piece that one likes.
