Ooooof. Someone reported my Scarlet Witch [WTA] tered. Then I saw this.

Can anyone tell me if Scarlet Witch Civil War Figure a.k.a MMS370 is worth splurging 2k-3.2k over? Or shall I hold onto some hope and pray that Hot Toys releases an update figure of the hero?

To each his/her own....but Scarlet Witch parts are available to you to kit bash one for around rm400 or less...

Thinking too. I just got into the whole high end figure world yesterday and I found out it's not just buying a toy and displaying it. Apparently, it's an investment. You can buy different parts and fix it up as long as it matches the scale.

You don't foresee another figure for SW do you?

My 2 cents.... hot toy figures... with especially fabric/pleather degrades over-time, even if kept mint, the PVC and ABS plastics that makes up the base figure degrades too....

Even with the original retail price... these HT figures are too pricey (hence the extremely slow movement of this thread) .... and not many people will pay more than the retail price...so not much as an investment opportunity

Pray tell, but how bad is the degradation that we're talking about? Are we talking about parts randomly falling off despite being kept in mint, air proof display casings?

im no expert here but i do have ht figures. I think it has to do with HOT and humid weather? faux leather will deteriorate overtime even in the box with silica gel. the base body with "rubbery plastic (torso)" will degrade too .. so much faster than a phicen base body.

some shops suggest keeping in ac room... i was like wtf.. and rub baby oil on faux leather... really?

looking ar cw scarlet.. leathery jacket and pants.. doest look good for investment... unless buying to enjoy it yourself

i haven't had any hot toys long enough to tell what degrading it is susceptible to but from past experience with other (cheaper) stuff, these are my experiences/observations:

rubbery torso: will harden in time (plasticiser degradation?) and develop cracks
faux leather: upper layer will start to flake
plastic parts: will become brittle (plasticiser also?).

and personally, i think that models that are boxed/displayed are the worse especially when the joints/parts are not flexed over time. hence, statues and busts makes for better long term 'investments'... but gone are the days where stuff lasts for ages. that said, interestingly lots of my stuff from the 80s have withstood the test of time.
