Is for our safety.

Guys I need to renew my car insurance soon. Do motortakaful or etiqa accept Amex if I want to pay using online payment instead of phone call during weekend?
*
You need to renew it on their office, they are accepting AMEX. I just did mine yesterday.
But beware, their service are very poor, for 4 person queue only, it took me 1 hour to reach my turn.

Thanks for the response guys, hehe i still got a few doubts to ask, sorry if asking many questions, but i really found this thread very helpful to me. Especially on the first page biggrin.gif

1. As for the GST right, i found that it can be waived by 12500 treatpoints. Since both cards need to pay rm50 each separately, then does the two card have treatpoints separately? Means that we need to collect 12500 on each card to waived it? Example like visa/masterdcard, 1TP for every RM, need to spend about rm12500 to cancel the gst, correct? Lol im not using visa/mstercard as much as amex, any tips? biggrin.gif

2. Actually i just realized that both of the card need to pay separately and have two bills, because during application, i was told by the staff that eventhough i got two card, i still share one account and statement, so there's confusion now lol, so whats both of this card sharing other than credit limit?

For finance charges, since both have two different bill, each card will have separate finance charge? Example if 1.5% charge each month, got two card then 1.5% each means in total 3% for both card, am i correct?

3. This may be very stupid question, but whats the different between statement balance and outstanding balance? Lol

4. Most of petron/shell/caltex accept amex at the pump right?
*
MBB's dual card is best to use AMEX only as far as possible. This is to ensure you are getting 5X TPs.
Outstanding balance is your current spending + statement balance. When calculating your balance of credit limit, look at outstanding balance.
When paying, always look at statement balance.

For sure next year won't be using Etiqa insurance anymore. I only getting rm21 from the TPs if it is 5X but I have to waste time and rm20 to get my road tax being renewed from Maybank's branch which is 10km away. Not to mention have to wait for 1 hour to pay insurance.

That's why I renew via phone and as for the road tax, I do it myself at nearest JPJ or post office.
*
Is still the same, other companies are doing all in one with no extra cost.
But then I have to renew using Etiqa as my loan still not settled. So I'll settle it by Feb next year. Interest saved would be ~rm3800.
I have very bad experience on getting my Inspira where I almost got rm1000 cheated and then the loan stuck in KL when I'm taking the Inspira in Seremban.
And now is the road tax issue. Best of all, the letter that sent to me are using fake address. When I go to the said address, the shop were empty.

The only headache is my current car hire purchase. They don't allow me to take the car geran since my loan is less than 1 year.

I have to renew it at the branch. They also charge me RM 20 for the courier from home branch to the current branch I made payment for.

Next February, I'll request it to transfer the geran to current branch at my working state.
*
Still you are not holding it, still need to take all the trouble sweat.gif
I prefer my way, settle the loan, get the geran and give it to my friend to renew.
Rather than they make rm3800 from me, I'll use this rm3800 to upgrade my car thumbup.gif

*

I heard that we can pay for the service tax first then when we have enough treat point to setoff the service tax, we can request for reverse the payment.
Possible? by calling customer service will do?
*
Yes, you may do so. But in order to get max out from the TPs, I'll use TPs to get AeonBig's cash card.

You mean by using TP to redeem AeonBig Cash Card is worth more than setoff the service tax?
Thank.

Yes sir, 25000 only can give you rm100 but for AeonBig, you are getting rm105. The rm105 will become rm110.25 when you shopping on 28th each month.

but aeon big items getting more expensive lately. there's one aeon big outlet at usj 19 city mall going to close by 31/12 (last day). they are doing a stock clearance sales for various sections with 20%-30%-50% discounts til the last day. but even so, most of the final price (after discount) is not that cheap if compared to you buy elsewhere.
*
Is it? So you are trying to tell me that Tesco, Giant are selling cheaper?
Tell you what, every month I'm spending 10 days in the above 3 supermarkets, not to mention Rapid, 99.
You need to survey more to get the cheapest price.

Should I redeem a new card rather than top up an existing card? Or I can't topup the card?

Top up a new card rm1000 at weekend and get 5% cb,, spent during 28th and get discount another 5%
Which equivalent to :
Rm1000 top up = rm50 cb
Rm1000 spent = rm50 discount (spent only rm950)
Rm1000 topup = 5000 treats point = rm19 (260 points = rm1)

(50+ 50 + 19) = 12%

Correct me if I'm wrong  rclxub.gif

Add in some info,,
Using my wife aeon big member card will gains

Rm1000 = 1000 points
1000 = rm5

Total should be around ( 50 + 50 + 19 + 5 ) = 124 = 12.4%  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Nope, for AeonBig, I'll only use TP to redeem the rm105 value. Won't do top up as I have another card.
I'm sure you got other spending, so topping up rm1000 won't really happen. Consider this only when your rm1000 quota not reach.'Have to know that, without promotion, the price of groceries are not that attractive.

sorry for OT.

yup... i went to aeon big, check the usual item and the pricing at least 10-15% higher than tesco...
even aeon supermarket also 5-10% higher than tesco...
so i will buy certain items from tesco on weekend using my amex...
*
Case by case, when each of them throwing the price, it is really lower. That's why you need to read newspaper everyday.
Like Quaker Oats, I got it at Tesco for rm10.90(others rm13), 1.35kg with 600g FOC and I got F&N softdrinks for rm2.65(others rm3.20) at AeonBig.
But non of them selling 2kg Milo for rm29.99-30.99 doh.gif

Yes, I got 10% off via phone renewal as well somewhere Jun/July 2014.
The CS even offer to swipe my Amex on Saturday even before I request.
But I noticed their estimated current car value is higher (and hence payable premium) than other insurance companies.
*
About 10-20% higher than other companies. So getting TPs or rm50 cash back won't really help sweat.gif
2 years with Etiqa and 3rd year year will be on other companies.

But their 10% discount actually bring the premium around the same as other companies.
There are also other factors one must consider, like excess, loading, car age, adding named new car driver (P license), etc.
Different companies have different treatments and charges...
Just not to be OT too much...at the end I just go with eTiQa using Amex.  tongue.gif
*
With extra hassle on getting the road tax, nope, no more swiping AMEX for car insurance.
And not to mention I also getting extra discount if I go personally to other insurance company so it is cheaper.

You can't really says it is off topic. As only Etiqa accepting AMEX and not other insurance companies. But they charge higher premium to offset it.
We discuss more is to understand all the pros and cons.
After all, what we want is to get the most out of our limited money.
