vdvaart - UQ, doing Mech Engg 1st yr 1st Sem 

Anyone know how good UniMelb's Architecture course is? Or anyone who took or is taking that course currently? Planning to do 3 years in taylors and 2 years in unimelb if feedback is good

melbourne archecture is okay, although some says less "practical and current" than others, say rmit..............

better check carefully, i think it is 3+1, after spm, ie 3 years at taylors and 1 years in melbourne, for the 1st part. there is no quarantee you will articulate into the 3rd year of the 1st degree in melbourne, it depends if you achieve the minimum grades required by melU..................(note: melU 1st degree 3 years, 2nd degree 2 years)

your status after that is just like a draftsman, you will need a year's working experience after that, then another 2 years in melU  for the part 2 (2nd degree), after which you are considered a graduate architect.............then you need to do your professionals, or part 3, to qualify as a professional architect...........

architecture is a very long course, as long as medicine..............

checked the taylors website..........3 years for diploma of architectural technology at taylors, then final year of bachelor of environments, then 1 year out working before another 2 years for master of architecture.................

Haha, it seems like there are some people here who would like to study engineering and were all discussing about the ranking of U in Australia, well to me i think which U rank higher doesnt really mean anything unless you are wanted. No point studying in the best U in aussie and come out with no jobs rite? Engineers in Perth are really different, as there is a high demand for it. I have many friends in Perth working as engineers, and all of them agree that this is the place where u can get highly paid as an engineer.... i am not sure about how much engineers get paid else where but the amount here is quite good....

Well.... It depends what kinda person are you. If you like the great outdoors, mother nature, peace and tranquility, Tassie is definitely the place to be (in Australia). Its NOT THAT BAD here... Definitely a good place to study. GOOD UNIVERSITY I MUST PRAISE  serious! No distractions as some people tell me. What do we do? Fishing... Badminton... Indoor soccer... Main PS... 

NO SHOPPING MALL here in Launnie...    cannot lepak...  *sigh* But i agree with you. I'm from KL thus SOMETIMES I oso cannot tahan here! haha... If Hobart, boleh tahan lagi ler... but im in Launnie!  KL IS STILL THE BEST!!

I have a room for rent in melbourne city center. Walking distance to university of melbourne and RMIT.

It is cheap.

Probably because it all started with the big base of 'friends' already in Melbourne.

If you have no friends already existing in Australia, that eliminates that factor when choosing universities giving you the option of judging without bias.

All the better, eh?

Why is that? I thought the Melbourne Model is revolutionary. In fact, many universities will soon implement something like that. UNSW and USyd already have what we call the Flexible First Year program for Engineering since last year, where students do a common set of subjects and engage in Engineering design and innovation courses. My thought was that the Melbourne Model is similar to this, only on a larger scale.

la trobe is one of the 2nd tier unis.........

i tend to look at oz unis this way.............1st tier is the go8 unis..........then there is the tech unis, historically originates as technical institutes, but now unis, so consider them 1st tier tech unis, like the go8 have grouped themselves into Australian Technology Network of Universities (uts, unisa, qut, curtin, rmit).............

then come the 2nd and 3rd tier unis.............

standards and admission criteria is obviously gonna lower than the 1st tiers.........

rule of thumb..........always try to get in the 1st tier unis and techs..........the fees are about the same anyway...............

if your pre-u study is not english based (ie sam/ausmat, a levels, etc) it is compulsory to have ielts...........and even if they are, it is always good to get yourself internationally benchmarked.........

i've got a friend in adelaide... but if she's not there, then no point laa, i go to ade.... mahal pulak tu the air tix... freaking RM900++ return...

Aiya... of all the big aussie cities... MEL is the best ler... hehe...

from my view, when u get out of to work..ur boss dun care u r from uni melb or not ..
it is the matter of fact you get people to hire you

Anyway, good luck to Melbourne Uni students who are Semester 1 exams next week.

ya i caculated..
after geting a job in Aud approx aud$30k /yr.. work for 1.5yr back there then can cover your entire 2 yr diploma education debt

But if you come back to malaysia you be working like HELL!   
for 10 yrs or so.

so do not come back to KL after yor visa expires ..haha
