yes, you are right. it might have something to do with hlb about the posting date delay. i still remember last time the posting date took very long time which average took 3-5 days. when compared to other cc which i used at the same merchant, only take an average of 2-3 days only.

but after they upgraded the hlb connect website, the posting date has significantly improved. not sure whether others realised this, or it has nothing to do with it just coincidentally they all happened at the same period of time?

If once a blue moon 1 time, I don't mind, but when always happen around the same period, nope, I don't want to take the risk.

There is a slight difference between transaction/swipe vs merchant claim from bank vs posting to CC account.

In each swipe, the transaction is captured by bank. This transaction is left unclaimed (floating) for 7 days. The merchant need to claim this transaction. Once claimed, only bank can post it to your CC account as successful swipe. If left unclaimed past 7 days, the transaction is failed and removed from your account.

Add on another 1-day delay for HLB Connect to refresh the account details.

Posting delay with HLB sometimes a double-edged "feature". Good to shift the swipe to next calendar month/bill date (u swipe today but wanted it to get posted later). Bad if you're betting the transaction to be posted in current calendar month (to hit 10x RM50 swipes).

I'm with the former method, usually swipe on bill date or last day of the month so that it get posted for next bill or next calendar (cashback reset) if cb already full. I'm buying time to repay the bill biggrin.gif

That's why merchants are being advised to do settlement daily.

Want to ask regarding yearly fee and GSt for this WISE card. How much need to pay? can waive or not?
*
Can try, but not all can get.
That's why you need to get gold instead of platinum. AF is rm160 only and with GST of rm50, you need to pay rm210.
By spending sharp rm990-1000 every month, the effective cash back is 8.25%. Any amount lesser than what I said, the lesser the effective cash back.

Those are just copy and paste info, not much help. Not even touching how to optimizing the cash back and what to avoid, how HLB deny a cash back and so on.

Called up just now to try to get AF waived but the CRO insisted that for Wise card cannot be done. Even when I said that I've never paid AF for any cards and I will cancel Wise card if I have to pay for AF, they wouldn't give in... sigh!

Dilemma now. Should I cancel cos of principle not to pay AF for nothing, or be practical and pay up since ultimately it still saves cash?
*
That's why don't get cheated on the 10% cash back. The effective cash back is only 8.25%. But you must spend in between rm950 to rm1000. Nothing more, nothing less.

I got annual fee waiver for both cards, charged on the date, waived on the date. I am using GSC combo and wise. GSC card AF waive RM150, HLB AF waive RM160. BTW, didn't call to waive. It is automatically waived. Perhaps first year only coz I just sign up in oct.
*
1st year is waived.
2nd year will be case by case. If they waive, they won't state anything in the statement.

Please share your experience on how much you brought and which outlet.
Also, how to activalte later? Go to aeon big again?

If you end up keep on buying gift cards, that's means you can't hit the max cash back all the time. It is not a good way as you end up stocking the cards sweat.gif
Unless you have plans on buying big and expensive items, then is worth to do so. But then I see AonBig's electric appliance's price are not that attractive.
For me, I never stock pile my cards, instead buying detergent and Milo then sell it out at the original price I bought. Makes more sense as I'm making money thumbup.gif

Most people will opt for gold.
And don't see that 10% and get cheated. In actual, you are getting 8.25% only.

May i know how is the cash back function. Cause the cashback always calculate on 28th date. Eg. My statement is from 1st to 28th then it must 10 transaction in tat period? Then the next statement 29th (with 31 ) to 25th. No cashback as no 28th date.then the next statement 26th will include 2month cash back with cap of 200?
*
"In the event the Cash-Back due to the Cardholder falls on or after the date of the Cardholder’s Statement, the Cash-Back will only be reflected in the Cardholder’s Statement in the next following month."
https://www.hlb.com.my/main/assets/files/ccwise_tc_en.pdf
Read all the T&C carefully, the above I just simply extract out.
So in other sense, I strongly suggest that don't swipe this card on 4-7 days before end of the month.
Like now AeonBig are giving store wide 5% discount on 28th every month, months with 30(or 28,29) days you are trying your luck. As HLB may take 3 days to post your transaction.
So best is buy the gift card and use it on 28th.

Guys, so just to confirm. I've just received my Wise card on early Nov, and my statement date is on 27th each month, so I have managed to complete 10 x RM50 transactions on Nov, I am supposed to only see my cash back on the 28th Dec right?

And since my statement is only until 27th Dec, so I will only see my Nov cash back on the following month's (27th Jan) statement right? Because for my 27th Dec statement, I still have not seen any of my Nov's cash back.
*
You need to really understand that T&C.
For me, if statement date is 27th, 21st will be my last transaction day.

Your are correct.

Statement date has no bearing on Cash back entitlement. As long as all your qualified transactions posted in a CALENDER month, your November cash bank will be CREDITED on 28th Dec regardless of your statement date. You just don't get the see the cash back dated 28th Dec in your statement dated 27th Dec, but don't worry, you can always login to your account to view it few days later.

By the way, you can take a pinch of salt on supersound's suggestion to stop using WISE card after 21st. It's absolutely unnecessary. Retail transactions normally gets posted the next day. 3 days before month end should get your last minute WISE card chargers posted in a current month.

The trick of the game is to hit 10 x >RM50 requirement as early as possible, say...before 20th of a calender month, then the remaining balance 7 days of the calender month is for you to max out the RM100 cash back monthly cap. With this strategy, you don't have to worry so much about current month transactions get posted to the following month as the lost is merely not being able to achieve current month maximum cash back quota but you will still be able to get the cash back in the following month quota.

Another trick is that you can start using WISE card on non HLB merchant on the very last day of a calender month for next month cash back quota as the transactions will be posted in the following month. To find out which are the non HLB merchants, check your past statements for the transactions that requires 1 day (next day) posting day.

You may do so and lost your 8.25% of cash back.
They will be more happy if you were to cancel it, if you are a prompt payer and only spend rm990-1000 a month sweat.gif

Signed up for this card at the Big Bad Wolf 24 hours sale recently and only after receiving the card, I gave the customer service a call and felt that the sales agent was not entirely truthful about the whole thing.

1. The sales agent mentioned that Annual Fees can be waived yearly. Not true. The fact is they only waive for the first year and next year they charge with no possible chance of waiver. They told me since they give up to RM100 per month cash back there was no way to waive annual fees already. For platinum holders, RM300 is steep.

2. You only get 10% cash back when you swipe 10x in a month of RM50 and above per transaction in your selected category. Again, the sales person failed to tell me that there is a minimum of 10x swipes. This is not a deal breaker though coz everytime I pump a full tank it already exceeds RM100 so it just means breaking down petrol bills to RM50 per visit. More visits to the petrol station is OK, I guess.

3. This is the deal breaker for me. Although I signed up for the Wise card, the sales agent also took the liberty to send me HLB's GSC card without my consent, which I didn't apply for and didn't request. I don't see a need for this card so I called the CS to cancel it and he says I can't do it because it was a combo card deal. Meaning I will have to cancel both cards if I didn't want the GSC card. First time I come across such nonsense.

Maybe it's my fault for not getting more details from the sales agent, but I signed up in a very packed book sale in the middle of the night so I wanted to get things moving fast. This was my first experience applying a credit card with HLB and will be my last.

I will cancel both cards after New Year's Day.
*
The agent only want to make rm100 from, nothing more, nothing less.
ANd there's more precaution you need to take on this card also, is not that simple as ABC.

*
Indeed so, and to make it clear, you can only spend rm990-1000, more or less than that, it will bring down the effective cash back.

QUOTE(3M_Bangsar @ Dec 30 2014, 01:30 PM)
Another case count.

What i do always is cross my ic with stated 'For application of XXX Gold/Platinum Card only' instead of 'For XXBank Credit card'

Cross and write down for usage for the only card you want.
*
HLB are quite bad on this, like they are passing my info(only have credit card account with HLB) to HLA. So crossing or not, it does not really help, at least for HL group.

QUOTE(enkil @ Dec 30 2014, 01:38 PM)
Just enjoy the 1 year free waiver and rebates. After that can cancel. Who knows maybe HLB will grant free waiver soon as the retention of this card is low  rolleyes.gif

It is a good card for us and for them too coz with card user really need to spend. Maybe with the carry forward amount of many users they can make enough profit also the merchant charges.
*
They are hoping card holders to spend more but I only spend rm990-1000, so they are losing money. Have to know that, admin fees for Visa are 1-3% and HLB are giving us 8.25%.
