True that, a phone is what it is depends on how one uses it. It can be a luxury item, or just another phone in your pocket.

After playing my phone for a week, I am waiting for Xiaomi Redmi Note... Really curious how it compares against my iP6+. (And I'm getting it cos it is so damn cheap! Probably give it away after I'm done playing.)

for the bold part, for me is just 5 minute... my comment is screen too dull, no apps in playstore... camera slow...

I would say that your definition of multitasking and my definition would be different.

For me multitasking does not have to mean simultaneously running two (or more) apps on the screen. If I listen to music while typing a document, that's multitasking. AirPlay video or audio to a TV while browsing Twitter, that's multitasking. Downloading a movie while typing an email, that's multitasking. Going by your definition, the iPhone has true multitasking too (since it can deal with more than one task at any one time).

Furthermore, if you say the Galaxy S5 or HTC One (M8) has better multitasking, why did it finish slower than the iPhone 6 in the video? If they can run multiple apps simultaneously like you say, then they shouldn't have to reload any app when switching between apps. The app should still be running, yet in the video we see some apps have to be reloaded (ie. look at Galaxy S5 in the video, on the second round it has to reload Photoshop from scratch, but the iPhone already has it loaded from the first round.)

Granted, the Galaxy Note (not sure about the S5) can run more than one app on the screen simultaneously, but the use cases of doing so on a smartphone I think is quite limited. Like one recent Samsung ad showed someone watching a movie while writing an email on his smartphone, I would think that is not an enjoyable experience.

you have a point there.

sometimes we forget it's a phone and to ask a phone to "multitask" like a pc, then might as well get a pc. everything has its role i guess..

endless argument really... no right or wrong here, a matter of own peference

It is more that a phone now, I read most of my mail on the phone. Reply them, take important photo for support, customer and friends. Then messaging apps like Whatsapp, line and SMS. Then GPS and also using the browser to google for information, GPS navigation to go to new location. So a smooth and quick multitasking is essiential and then to kill time when the home minister is shopping.

In gsmarena's latest shootout between the iPhone 6, Galaxy Alpha and Z3 Compact (I think chosen based on screen size), here's what they had to say on performance :

Winner: Apple iPhone 6. The iPhone is no underdog - casual users may be misled by CPU core count but the Apple handset won almost all of the challenges here. Apps, games and websites have processing power to spare and can deliver a flawless experience.

Runner-up: Samsung Galaxy Alpha. The Exynos 5430 chipset beat out Snapdragon 801 in certain benchmarks and you can try and get an S801 Galaxy Alpha too. Not that you'll see much difference in performance. Neither is as fast as the Apple A8 though.

Third place: Sony Xperia Z3 Compact. Snapdragon 801 is certainly fast enough for daily use - apps, gaming and browsing - but the iPhone will be noticeably faster in some scenarios.

A lesson in history :

Teasers and supposed event leaks do not necessarily confirm on the phone's release. It ended up coming on december instead.

To share my humble opinion, you guys are expecting too much from a phone with a single mini screen.
Its just a phone, is not en effing 3 screens computer where you can open up few programs and use them at once like what we can do with our home desktop.
Just tell me one thing, why do you need apps running simultaneously on one single screen? Do you have 20 fingers?
If we are talking about apps running in the background, then yes we need that. For instance, music app.

IT IS JUST A SMARTPHONE, NOT A DESKTOP COMPUTER.
jeezzz.......

if thats the case, it should be priced like a smartphone, not a pc. when we buy an expensive smartphone, we expect the best. i'm sorry if i dont subsribe to ur "apple-can-do-no-wrong" style. ill call a spade, a spade. so far the iphone6 is good with its screen. im definitely getting it because i like the camera and the support for the phone. but i also feel apple can do better with the iphone.

QUOTE(DuDe5593 @ Oct 14 2014, 06:56 PM)
then all i can say is.. one is doing it all wrong.
We pay premium for iPhone because we wanted to be premium, feel premium and let others think we are premium.
We dont pay for LV sling bag that can fit an elephant in there.
*
i hope you are trolling bro. if u buy an iphone to look premium, u must be a kiddo. we pay a premium price coz we want the OS and the "it just works" style of apple. Not because we wanna show off etc. u must be damn shallow.

QUOTE(DuDe5593 @ Oct 14 2014, 07:05 PM)
yeap that is my opinion in owning iphone 6+ makes me look premium.
If you dont acknowledge that, why bother reading this 'unpremium', 'jusco assistant' & 'McD worker''s phone thread?

What are you trying to prove here, bro.
*
we are in this thread to know more bout the phone, nothin to do with premium or showing off. so if i read a mi3 thread, im a cheap bugger? bro pls get a life la. your priorities are clearly skewed.

Both Facebook n whatsapp works perfectly well since day one. It never crashes. No idea why it happens on some of you guys set. I am using ip6+ 64gb
I have yet to face any app crashes
Only issue was Apple keyboard suddenly freeze n that was on day one ( 3X) while replying to this forum
Now I am using mainly Swiftkey as alternative
I never like Safari n only use Mercury browser

Restarted the phone and Facebook is up and running now. Definately a bug with 8.0.2.

Calm your tits bro! laugh.gif

You have got a point there. It is because of all these fanboy'ism that Apple products are priced this high and people are still buying their stuff. I agree that we are not appleminddroids with the 'Apple can do no wrong' mentality. If its not good then we should critize and look forward to improvements.
