You manage to APU + R7 250 combine?

You know the old drivers and what not, I try so hard and never able to get APU and R7 250 to CFX no matter what.

I've been reading all the news flash about AMD's recent announcement.

...and now I am starting to become irritated, slightly pissed off, moderately sad and HIGHLY FRUSTRATED.

I know in advance that HBM2 won't make it into the card within my price range for Polaris. That's why I expected at least GDDR5X. But it seems Polaris might not even include that. Seems we're still stuck on DDR5 this year, and possibly next year too because it seems like Vega is reserved for ultra-high end.

It used to be that simply pushing for the best hardware for the cheapest price available, but that is now a thing of the past.

Nowadays it seems to be more about playing within 'price brackets'. Fuck cost/profit ratio; it's now just about baiting people into feeling desperate and paying as much as they can for as little as you need to provide. And here I thought AMD is less of an asshole than NVIDIA, but I guess I should've realized that long ago when NVIDIA beat AMD to the 'price:performance ratio' corporate game AMD was playing against consumers when GTX 970 came out.

Or am I wrong? At least, that was the conclusion I came up with when AMD launched Fury X with a price tag that was only a few USD cheaper than 980Ti, and was still getting outclassed by it.

I guess I'm partly to blame for building up all these expectations for your company, but can you blame me after hyping up all these shiny new technologies in the past few months? And now that the announcement has been made, it felt like I was being played like a fiddle. And to add salt to my injury, a sandwiched-together Fury X being sold for 1.5kUSD? I was laughing in disgust. 'creation and consumption' card my ass.

I am severely disappointed by AMD this year. Another chance at getting a significant increase in performance yet ruined by 'price:performance brackets' game and only providing very small increase. Yeah, I'll probably forget about all this tomorrow morning when I calmed down and can think more rationally, but I'll probably stick with NVIDIA again out of spite. DX12? 14nm die shrink that only brings power savings to the table which NVIDIA has done 2 gens ago? Your company expects us to still care about that when NVIDIA still manage to come up with wares that still perform more stable and with less driver hassle?

Looks like I need to forget about Polaris already and remain with Pascal. At least I already know I'll get conned one way or another.

sometimes i also have issues.. but usually my process goes like this:

1. DDU
2. Bios enable only Onboard Graphics
3. Boot to windows
4. install from autodetectutility (to properly install APU driver, last driver was 15.1.1 i think).
5. shut down.
6. plug in r7 250,
7. Bios enable PCI Express
8. install latest driver (crimson 16.3 for the R7 250 dedicated).
7. Restart again
8. your dual graphics should be auto enabled (check from GPU-Z or Radeon Settings)

you using Nvidia... and post of your disappointment on a AMD product that ' irritated, slightly pissed off, moderately sad and HIGHLY FRUSTRATED.'.. as if your using their gpu/cpu/APU... okay polaris coming but not HBM2... still is on 14nm finfet.. and support DX12 by way GPU not yet out.. judge already?? wow somebody angry/frustrated at wrong company...

'I guess I'm partly to blame for building up all these expectations for your company, ' what you post support and hope for AMD ? hmm most i know end user using Nvidia tend to big @ss bias.. Very sensetive with their chosen brand as if they were Israelite! and special! lol Why nvidia dun made loud use a lot power ?? nvidia perfect ? make no driver destroy their own product ? Nvidia never make Software that gimps a Game with it feature ?

Did they confirmed there will be no GDDR5X in upcoming Polaris? There's still HBM1 imo.

970? Didn't it get overprice here with inferior hardware compare to AMD offering?

Powersaving by cutting corners you mean? Removing compute power in Maxwell and Kepler which is important in the future gaming with the new APIs to improve rendering technique and performance. Pascal is simply Maxwell v2 with compute power and HBM imo.

His video just confirms what I suspected. biggrin.gif

I saw many people say the R7 250 can be CFXed but to what I tried, no I can't.

All these while my suspicion is that I'm on a R7 250 1GB GDDR5, even AMD people (I met them and asked them before!) couldn't answer that question.

Siggy's setup is on R7 250 2GB DDR3.

DDR3 cards are horribly slow, a single R7 250 1GB GDDR5 would be faster than R7 250 DDR3 + A10-7850K CFX.

Quite sad really, unlike the previous generation APU where you can CFX with GDDR5 card.

no regrets so far, spent roughly around 1.6k.. but mostly are used parts. 1080p low for current games will get around 30-50fps.

Since i play mostly dota/rocket league/civ5 and other dx9 games. high settings 60fps no problem.

and dont play GTA5 on this build, unless you want to float around in empty space.

biggrin.gif ASUS A88X-Pro and Kingston HyperX DDR3 2400Mhz. biggrin.gif AIO i have all sorts, so that one nothing to worry.

So far APU overclocking performance gain has been disappointing.

Gonna have to try it with Crimson driver. I've not tried to CFX it since 2014 / 2015.

My rig is ever ready, currently with R9 390 8GB on it. brows.gif
