So far what I read, even water-cooled, most can only reach 4.1GHz but still require high voltage. I think no point spend too much just for that 200MHz extra, as it that extra voltage and heat.

I think I'll OC to 4.0GHz, screenshot it for show-off, then back to comfortable speed that wont generate extra heat. As you manually OCed, it's on all cores.
WC more like cooling with money  laugh.gif  My entry level custom water cooling easily cost me 1.7K already, but I guess it's long term investment. Now waiting for beautiful ( cough*RGB*cough ) compatible water block  biggrin.gif

I treat WC as a hobby that's why i willing to spend so much money to keep upgrading it. As for RGB waterblock so far as i know only Thermaltake Pacific W4, other big brands like EK, Bitspower or Watercool still didn't heard any news to produce RGB waterblock yet but i believe they will released very soon as now RGB is become trendy for PC world.

Push the wraith spire cooler to max speed if u just want to try you cpu limit, watercooling is best but easily cost you spend more than your entire system, just like me spend nearly 10K just for WC  biggrin.gif

Yup, tat's why hold me back from water cooling, especially custom water cooling XD As i know the entry of custom need roughly 3k @@?

i max out stock cooler fan speed with 2700rpm dy, i can boot up with 4 ghz, but scary trying with aida64 under higher voltage since 1.25v aida get me max of 83'c, later fry my cpu? XD
Not really familiar with OC, takes few hour to get me how to set oc yesterday due to only OC once back in year 2014@@

Yup, mostly 4.1 ghz, there r ppl get more than 4.1 that with water cooling, but just only one i saw in some post before.

I'm in this hobby more than 10 years ago. Why i said it is hobby? Bcos i will always change the parts, the loop design, casing so that can accommodate more things and large radiators, but i'm going to stop for while since i already change to the largest casing (Thermaltake WP100) few months ago, very satisfying at the moment biggrin.gif

For custom water cooling loop, below 1K also can entry. I think even got box set from EK those ( but not AIO, you have to assemble yourself ).
For me ( total noob ), spend 1.5K for my first build. Higher because I try water cool for the looks biggrin.gif so those UV tube, nice looking fans, transparent water block sweat.gif cost more. After swap new case, bought new tube and coolant only.
Need many bullet for beautify rigs, recently looking at those RGB fans, 3 fans + 1 controller cost RM4xx shocking.gif

Some said cant truly trust Ryzen's temperature reading. One way to know, touch the cooler with your hand to know if too hot laugh.gif

Most of my friends who having same hobby stay in other states, i will help them design, recommend parts & sometimes help them order the parts, just want to influence more peoples in their build biggrin.gif

unless it is hobby, else i think no point to wc, since ryzen can only do moderate oc. better use stock cooler and spend the extra cash on other component.

Ya, when I first into WC, I change water every month. On my last build, didnt change water for 5 months shakehead.gif
Good enough air cooler tower quite cheap only.

Why u need to change water every month? sweat.gif Just leave it for 6-12mths (depends on coolant you use)

First build, using distilled water but can see water change a bit every one/two months. Not sure if radiator didnt clean properly or distilled water not pure enough.
Second build using colored coolant, but I dont have those addition ( to prevent rust or mold those stuff ). Last weekend dissemble whole WC unit, tube and reservoir got a bit dust/grey-ed ( like fishtank never wash )

Usually caused by radiator, you need to clean your radiator thoroughly by using vinegar (use for cooking one), fully fill your radiator with vinegar & wait for few hours, after that drained with pipe water until no smell finally with distilled water 2-3 times. Previously i'm also using various type of coolants (EK coolant, Mayhems pastel, Mayhems dye etc), pastel type will leave lot of problems. Now i'm using distilled water only without any additive.

Might be following not-good-enough guide, so I only flush the brand new radiator with distilled water once.

Much to learn, I want to learn hard-tube but seems too difficult for me now. Not enough patience I think laugh.gif

Yup, that required lot of patient and some skills, there are 2 types of tube a.k.a acrylic & PETG, PETG more easier to bend (at least for me), alternative you can use angle fittings if you don't wish to do hardtube bending, hardtube look much nicer & neat.

Erm, actually even 83'c under aida, the hsf is cool? not really even warm, but can feel the heat flow out from space between cpu and vrm. its feel different with OC haswell under 3rd party air cooler before.
RM4xx for rgb fan @@ Anyway, i'm usually hard allow myself go too much cash for appearance XD

That's the weird thing about Ryzen, at first AMD said there's 20 degree C offset, which later they said removed ?
Because 83 degree are quite hot, the heatsink should be unbearable to touch, Pentium 4 memory flow in laugh.gif

For the heat flow out, was it the cooler not good, that it didnt absorb heat nicely from CPU ? sweat.gif

20degree offset is only applicable to X variant aka 1700X and 1800X, however i do admit that ryzen temperature is very weird, it is fluctuating even when with some light loading, take for example the temperature can be suddenly shoot to 40 something from 30 something just when clicking webpages, this not happend in my 5930K.

Sudden spike high might be normal, but will the temperature reading drop suddenly as well ?
